Good but unnecessary remake
22 March 2024
After watching the original film by director Delmer Daves, one can only be disappointed. The original 1957 film is outstanding for its camera work and photographic composition. Here all that magic is gone. The chemistry between main characters Ben Wade and Dan Evans is also one of the highlights of the original film. Although Christian Bale and Russell Crowe are good in their roles, there is something missing when you compare their performance with that of Glenn Ford and Van Heffling.

The film is entertaining and enjoyable but it pales in comparison with the original film, which is one of the great Westerns of the 1950's. I don't really see the point of remaking such a classic as it will obviously never be as good as the original.

Eggceptional!
5 September 2023
This black and white experimental short film introduces the viewer to one egg, then two eggs, then multiple eggs. They appear to be chicken eggs and they are very active, moving, dancing and (one must assume) having conversations in egg language. The egg voices buzz and fuzz all around. The eggs sometimes like to hear their voices reverberate through the cosmos but they are also happy with more mundane activities, like moving on a table, where they can admire their own reflection. This eggcellent short film is recommended for those who appreciate late 1960's experimental films, farmers, egg lovers, astronauts, existentialists, dadaists, chicken and other birds.

Pretentious and uninspired
6 October 2022
The 1960's were a great period for experimental films. Generally I do enjoy this king of cinema, that's the reason I saw this one. I have no problem with the fact that there is no plot as such. I didn't even expect one. But to compensate the lack of a plot, you need something else, anything. Here there is nothing to make it up. The camera seems to be handled by a 5 year-old. The "actors" seem uninterested in what they're doing. On the sound department, things are no better. As there is no dialogue, you would expect the music to compensate for this absence. But the music is unbearable so you need to turn the sound down.

I can't say anything good about this film, except that it is short. But even though it's only 15 minutes long, it seems to last for an hour.

Good movie to fall asleep to
8 February 2022
I have tried to watch this film three times now but I give up. I really wanted to like it but it's much too long. Nothing happens, the characters aren't interesting and you are just hoping for the submarine to sink so the film will finally end.

A lot of nonsense for the irrational mind
27 February 2021
I couldn't watch more than10 minutes of this nonsense. This is for the true believer in fairy tales and mythical creatures, not for scientific or rational minds.

Tesla (I) (2020)
An insult to the memory of Nikola Tesla
24 January 2021
This is a big disappointment in many ways. Hawk is so disengaged with the character he is portraying, he doesn't even bother imitating a Transylvanian accent. The film is confusing, boring, pretentious, inaccurate and filled with anachronisms. It never achieves its purpose of telling Tesla's life story. Instead you get a parody of him singing Tears for Fears' "Everybody wants to rule the world". I recommend following the narrator advise and google "Tesla" instead of wasting your time with this.

Long, boring, unnecessary sequel
1 October 2020
This is probably the worst sequel I have ever seen. Definitely the most boring film I have seen in a long time. I fell asleep the first two times I tried to watch it. The third time, after a while I just sped it up at because I got so terribly bored. Nothing really happens here, you just wait for nearly 3 hours (which seem like 10) for this to end and you are left with the feeling of having been ripped off.
