405 (2000)
One of the Best Privately Made Short Films of Recent Times.
I was completely impressed with the effects and story line of this film. Filmed with a 1CC camera in their spare time, Bruce Branit and Jeremy Hunt took amateur film making to a new level. A lot of detail went in to the CGI of this project. Both gentlemen researched the fine details of the DC-10 aircraft and created an exact CG model that major film makers would find incredible. Adding a finer quality to the film is the excellent scoring by Wayne Boon, who created an original score that complimented the action and intensity of each scene. A well deserving winner of "Best Web Film". I hope to see further projects from these two young men. "405" is definitely a short film you've gotta see.
Haunted House (2004)
Worst Horror Movie......EVER!
This film was soooo painful to watch that I almost had to smash the T.V. and flush the pieces down the toilet. I have been a horror fan all my life and consider myself very open-minded to student film projects, B-Films, etc. However, this piece of crap still sits steaming away in the *beep* pile (like crap does). What were they thinking? Still photos used as cut-away shots....horrible. An abandoned house with a porch light lit(very realistic). Take my advice...DO Not rent this film. After the first few minutes you will want to slash your own throat. I've seen wedding videos scarier than this. Please DO NOT contribute to the fattening of these people's wallets...please do not rent "Haunted House".
Night at the Museum (2006)
A Modern Day Masterpiece the Whole Family Can Enjoy!
Every once in a while, a motion picture arrives to the theater that just out classes and out shines all the others. "Night at the Museum" is just that motion picture. It's not often that an entire family, young and old can sit down together at the local theater an enjoy some good ole fashion entertainment. "Night at the Museum" offers drama, romance, and laughter all in one. Being a museum buff, I also found this film educational (How often do you get that in a movie now-a-days?). This movie was definitely my favorite for 2006. The characters were believable, the story line and writing was top drawer, and the acting was fabulous. It was nice to see some veteran talent on the screen too with Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, and Bill Cobbs. This film has my vote for best picture. Good job.
The Three Stooges 75th Anniversary Collector's Edition (2002)
Another Re-Hashing of the Same Three Comedy Shorts!
Basically, this video is a well packaged two disc set of the same three comedy shorts distributed by everyone and their brother. The first disc contains "Brideless Groom", "Disorder in the Court", and "Sing a Song of Six Pants". If you recall, the copyrights on these three shorts were mistakenly not renewed by the studio in the early 1960s, so they became public domain. I was hoping to see something original with this collection, but was mistaken. There are, however, some interesting interviews on disc two of surviving family members sharing special memories they have of their famous slap-stick relatives. Also included with this disc, are a number of Stooge cartoons from the 1960s. These programs are a matter of personal taste, I personally do not care for them. There's nothing like the real life action of the stooges on film. If you do not have any stooge videos in your collection, this may be one to consider, however, there are other videos out there for purchase that contain the same three shorts for a lot less money. Long live the stooge legacy!
