M3GAN (2022)
Mediocre and derivative
It's a mediocre, derivative and full of over used tropes of Sci fi movies and "killer doll" movies.
It was over hyped via tik tok for a scene where the doll dances, and the rest is just pointless garbage.
The reason I give it 3/10 instead of 1/10 is because it has some good commentary on parenting and technology usage.
The movie could have been better as a drama a la Black Mirror (and it actually has quite the same writing quality of a TV show rather than a full movie), than as an horror movie, since the parts where the characters were explored and commented on the usage of technology were well instrumented.
Overall, there is no need to watch this movie, and I just did it for a laugh, because I knew it was going to be this bad for the trailer only.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Alternate (1994)
Good start, bad ending
It stars quite good, with a good premise: we are gonna learn something about Odo's past and where he comes from.
Then some strange things happen: first Dax decides to rip off the floor some ancient relic. What was the purpose of this relic and why it was necessary to the plot, is a mystery.
Another mistery is what the alien lifeform was, and what happened to it. We learn that Odo is having a personality disorder and attacking the station, but is quite vaguely explained and the premise is not actually developed in a manner that matters.
The episode ends in a strange family reunion where we finally don't learn the motives or the causes behind Odo's strange conduct. Just that "it was the gas"
Overall, good premise, but suffers from the lack of developing the argument in a way that matters and keeping the clues cohesive.
Star Trek: The Next Generation: Future Imperfect (1990)
Good premise, but lacking at the end
I enjoyed this episode and the psychological terror component of it. Waking up 16 years in the future with no memory of what has happened is terrifying.
Then, it slowly starts to show that it is not real life but more and more looks like a Romulan simulation. Obviously! They wanted to spy into the Federation secrets again.
Then the plot thickens with a simulation inside a simulation, and the secret of what they wanted being even more obscure.
Finally I got disappointed at the end with the alien being just wanting some company. Why did him involved the Romulans and a so much convoluted story for? It wouldn't have been easier to just create a perfect fantasy world? Another case of "good premise, bad resolution"
Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Child (1988)
Abhorrent
This episode is truly a bad way to start a season.
An episode that can only be the result of pregnant fetishism, we can watch Counselor Troi giving birth before all the ships officers and we as the audience.
Then a plot which circles itself.
The only redeeming points are the showing of new technologies, special effects and characters
Star Trek: The Next Generation: Conspiracy (1988)
Bad Star Trek
This episode starts very high, with a suspense inducing plot about a conspiracy so secretly stablished, only some very loyal and skilled captains, including a Picard's personal old friend know about it. This is something huge, very menacing and unusual.
Then slowly transforms into a mindless B-class horror movie with everything and mind controlling parasites protruding of the neck, worm-eating, people being melted and an intelligent newly discovered life form being phased to oblivion.
All of this, not only breaking all the things that make Star Trek, but also wasting what could have been a wonderful plot.
I don't know why it's rated as the best in the season
