Parineeta (2019)
Parinoi
A very, very different Bengali commercial cinema. All actors and actresses had done their job prominently. Specially Ritwick Chakraborty, Subhashree Ganguly and Laboni Sarkar. A one sided love by a teenage girl Mehul(Bose) to her neighbour usually called 'Babai da', a honest, geeky, kind hearted boy, who used to help her in studies.
But the story takes a topsy turvy turn when Babaida commits suicide. This one incident changes Mehul's life. Here comes the twist in d tale.Mehul finally got the job in a corporate where her babai da wrked but she has to take revenge. The journey starts now. Subhashree made justice to character. Moreover the story is brilliant.
Shajarur Kanta (2015)
Suspense thriller
Based on Saradindu Bandopadhyay's Byomkesh Bakshi novel Sajarur Kanta is about a series of mysterious murders where the quill of a porcupine pierces the heart of the victim, killing him or her instantly.
It begins with the murder of a beggar, but the peculiarity lies within the murder weapon. Which is a porcupine thorn. Byomkesh Bakshi sets out to find answers and wants to know the murderer's motif and his choice of weapon. Deepa (Konkona Sen Sharma) is a lead actress of a theatre group, her marriage gets arranged to a wealthy Debashis.Their chemistry is crackling but the script doesn't allow the romance to bloom. Moreover, Dhritiman's Byomkesh is quite far removed from the character we know, speaking English with a British accent and effecting theatrical expressions and dramatic entrances. Kaushik Sen's Prabal is intense but falls victim to a poor script. The film is touted as a thriller, but thanks to the poor editing there is little of that thrill left by the time the end credits roll.
