Night Teeth (2021)
3/10
It wanted to be a good modern movie about vampires with gorgeous visuals but it failed
30 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Movie 'Night Teeth' is a new 2021 Netflix movie with a modern vampire story. The story follows Benny who takes the place of his half-brother on his shift as a driver. Benny on the shift meets vampires Blair and Zoe and he will help them to take off bosses of the town for vampires to rule the city. But he didn't know until one moment that the women are vampires and they want with one other vampire Victor to rule the city, at least Zoe and Victor wanted to rule the city.

Director of this movie was Adam Randall who is most known as the director for 'Night Teeth' and 'I See You'. He didn't already has directed many things, so is obvious that he don't have much experience with directing, and this is more surprising when you will make this research because the skills which he brought with him to this project were very surprising because it is directed quite well and there are not many problems with the directing at all. The first problem with the director was that when Benny was rummaging through the banknotes the blood splattered on his face for some reason when it was clearly visible that the blood was dry. When he wanted to take off the blood from his face he had to watch himself in the mirror because without the mirror he couldn't take it off. In the second scene after this, when he was in the hotel, he had blood taken from his face with some magic because they didn't show to us that he was taking it off. When Zoe took from Benny his phone, she destroyed it and when she destroyed it the phone shattered into pieces unrealistically. The phone when you destroy it with shoes it will not shatter into pieces, in real life she will be only able with shoes to destroy the display. Never you will not be able to shatter the phone into pieces as like in this movie. These were only two problems which were visible in this whole movie. The movie failed because of the average screenplay not by the director. The director was quite good here. The feeling of the whole movie was better because of the director.

Writer of this movie was Brent Dillon who has made only one project and the project is 'Night Teeth'. For his first project it is quite a good start of his career but it could be better because the movie failed on the screenplay. He could have thought more while he was writing this movie because there are some logical problems which are made only for the effect, and when you think more about it you will come to the conclusion that the situation is very illogical and it could be done better. At the beginning the storyteller told us the story of how and why people made a deal with vampires which is very childish and cliché. When the woman knew that she was being followed by one vampire and suddenly heard knocking on the window and when she looked back and she saw nothing she must have been clear to her that it was a vampire. In real life a normal person with normal thinking would be afraid and the person would immediately drive quickly to somewhere else too, but in this movie she was paralyzed and suddenly kidnapped by the vampire. Last problem with this screenplay was a little detail that many of the viewers would not have to deal with and it is one logical problem. The last logical problem which would be good to mention is when the vampire women were hunted by the "Night Legion" with crossbows, the vampire women were standing in one place without moving for at least a few seconds and the "Night Legions" were not able to shoot the vampire women. This is a very cliché thing that the "good" people are not able to shoot or kill the "bad" people because the "good" people are not good enough etc. This is a very cliché thing that must disappear from the movies. I think that this is very important thing that must disappear because this affects the mind of people and there are disappearing the logical thinking from their minds. This is the reason why it must disappear. One thing which was very good in this movie was the idea with the vampire member stones, but if you think more about it you will come to the conclusion that it maybe wouldn't in the normal world be released these stones because it would be easy to infiltrate some events where you must prove yourself with this stone. It was quite good for the first screenplay of the writer's character development. Is very surprising that for the first screenplay the movie has very good dialogues and logical sequence of events. This wasn't any vampire movie with no brain, this was from some point of view a love story between a vampire woman and normal mortal man. If there would not be the problems with illogical situations this could be a good movie and if the screenplay was in the development phase more time and polished to the perfection it could be a much better movie than what came from it.

Casting directors Jessica Kelly and Mary Vernieu did a very good job here because all actors fit their roles, fit together in the scenes and main actors were very sympathetic. The visage of every actor fits perfectly the lines of their characteristics in the screenplay and it completes the movie well. Every actor did very good here. Main actors did here a very good job with such a energy but not good job as DiCaprio or actor like him, for this kind of movie which is between A and B did a good job but if they will want to came with performance like this to A movie, they will must to improve the skills but the perfect feeling from it wasn't here in this movie.

Director of cinematography Eben Bolter who is most known as cinematographer for 'The Last of Us' (2022), 'Night Teeth' (2021), 'Avenue 5' (2020-2021) and 'The Woman in White' (2018). In this movie it is very visible that he has very good experience as cinematographer but for this movie he could have chosen a better style of camera in some scenes because it didn't fit the situation which was happening in the scene and it wasn't too good for some scenes. Director of cinematography probably wanted to make this movie a little bit more action and interesting but this wasn't necessary for this movie because this movie was interesting and action before these scenes in which there were problems with the style of the camera. The style of the camera was very action and the camera was moving from side to side, from angle to angle and this wasn't ideal, but because this was in a very small amount of scenes this style of camera doesn't affect your experience from the movie. But if we will omit these little problems, the camera is very good and the style of it was very memorable.

The VFX in this movie looks and feels very unnatural and from this side it worsens the feeling from the movie.

Visuals in this movie are stunning and the whole color palette for this movie is good looking and gorgeous. Editor of this movie did a very good job here because this is a very wisely chosen color grading color palette. Thanks to the color grading looks at this movie nicely and without a good color palette like this, the movie would be killed and worse than it is now.

Conclusion for this movie is that this movie is below average because of illogical situations which are written in the screenplay. The director did a very good job here and it is visible that he has potential to create better movies with better screenplay than this movie. Color grading is very good and from some point of view it is unique and for a movie like this it is perfect. From the style of director and writer it is visible that this movie wanted to be a good modern movie about vampires but it failed. As I said it failed from the side of the screenplay because the screenplay contains such an amount of illogical situations that it makes this movie worse. But if we will omit the illogical situations this movie is quite good but with the illogical situations it is such an average canapé.

Movie which had potential to be a good movie but it was ruined by poor writing
29 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After a few months after release 'Army of the Dead' was released movie called 'Army of Thieves' which is prequel to the 'Army of the Dead' movie. Army of Thieves follows a story of how Gwendoline recruited Dieter to open and rob four most prestigious safes in the world because no one had gotten into them before.

Director of this movie is the actor who has the role of Dieter Matthias Schweighöfer who is most known as the actor for 'The Red Baron', 'What a Man', 'Der Nanny' and 'Army of the Dead'. In his directing cinematography he has made five movies including 'Army of Thieves' and one series called 'You are Wanted'. It seems that he has some experience with directing and he obviously used his experience when he was making this movie but in some scenes it doesn't look like that. In some scenes there are problems with the director because he wasn't paying attention to the small details which ruined the feeling of the movie in some parts. In one scene where Dieter he poured coffee on himself and in the second scene after this scene he has a clean and dry shirt without any stains from the coffee. When Dieter was home he was doing something on his Dell notebook and when was shot on the screen of the notebook it was clearly visible that he has inside the Dell notebook MacOS or something like that from Apple. How he could have an OS from Apple inside a notebook which is for Windows. Maybe I'm wrong so this detail doesn't affect the final result of the rating. When Dieter was going on the tournament of safe cracking they had chosen the location for the metro station, which should be in the middle of Berlin, metro station which is in the middle of Prague. These problems which have been visible in the movie are a little percent of all problems which have appeared in this movie. Directing style is not any good or bad. It is on a very good average without any special style of directing which could be memorable. The director needs a lot of time to improve himself if he wants to be an director. If someone wants to make a realistic movie with a feeling of a fantasy or sci-fi movie he must be a very good actor which masks the shortcomings in the scenario well or he wouldn't accept the scenario and you must have feeling for it and talent obviously.

Screenplay was written by Shay Hatten who is most known as the writer for 'Army of the Dead', 'John Wick 3', 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and 'Army of Thieves'. From his writer cinematography it is clearly visible that he has not much experience with writing but at least he has some good experience through the last one year of writing. He started his writing for 'John Wick 3' movie which is very positively rated by critics and users on IMDb, so it is clearly visible that he started his career very well but from the moment he started writing 'Army of the Dead' it is very visible that his skills are going up and down. For Army of Thieves he has written a very illogical screenplay with sometimes bad dialogues and the whole movie feels very poorly written. Most of the problems which are very visible in this movie are caused by Shay Hatten not by the director or actors. When Dieter came on the safe cracking tournament he was confused because he didn't know what he must do when it was clearly visible what a person must do when he has a safe before him. When Gwen met Dieter in the café he poured illogical coffee on himself, when the vessel in which the coffee was was perfectly closed by the cap but even so the cap somehow came loose and he poured on himself a coffee, because he was afraid of her. For Dieter Gwen to believe she has stolen some things from customers of the coffee shop within ten minutes without anyone noticing and this is a very illogical scene which could be in this movie because how can someone stole from a single one customer one thing without noticing when they weren't in any action. When they were in the action the possibility of noticing will be minimal because they probably wouldn't feel it as if someone is stealing something from them. The writer didn't realize one thing when he wrote this script. The one thing is the banks obviously have in a room, where it is safe, CCTV and this is not obviously written in the screenplay because when they were safe cracking the safe in the Paris bank, no one noticed that there was someone in the vault. There are many problems with the screenplay but there are many of them that this review will be only about the problems. The last problem which I will write here is that this movie works with so many cliché. Is okay to work with cliché in these ages because it is hard to come up with something new which is interesting and new in this field but the clichés could be written in a more clever way because when the writer writes the clichés cleverly the viewer and critic may not notice. This screenplay could be in the development phase for more time and it could be polished to perfection because this theme of a movie is very unordinary and very interesting.

Most of the actors are quite well chosen because they fit the roles which they have chosen but there are some problems too. One of the main problems is that they have chosen the extra actors very badly because they have chosen for the guards in the Czech Republic very unknown people in Czech Republic which are not maybe actors at all and it is quite visible because they brought with them to this movie very bad and strongly below average performances. The rest of the actors are quite well chosen and the main actors Nathalie Emmanuel who has the role of Gwendoline and Matthias Schweighöfer who has the role of Dieter are chosen very well too because they fit together and this is a very good move from the casting directors. The main actors have come to this movie with good energy but Matthias Schweighöfer sometimes was overacting especially when he woke up from a bad dream or spilled coffee on himself. The rest of the actors have good performances too but not as good as the main actors.

Director of photography Bernhard Jasper who is most known as director of photography for 'Frei parken', 'You Are Wanted', 'Open Water 2: Adrift' and 'Meine verrückte türkische Hochzeit'. Is visible that he has brought with him to this project very good experience with cinematography and style of shooting scenes because the camera was very good and there are no doubts that the camera was bad or average. The camera has a very special style for this movie and this one element saved this movie from being a forgettable classic Netflix movie.

Music which is made by a couple of composers Steve Mazzaro and Hans Zimmer is good but there is one problem with the music. The problem depends on a single one viewer because everyone has a different point of view on this problem. The problem is when Dieter has any dream about zombies there was a music that was in some passages childish and this doesn't fit the movie very well but the rest of the music was very good.

The conclusion is that this movie is very bad, mostly from the side of screenwriter Shay Hatten who ruined this whole movie because of his illogical decisions and poor writing. This is a very good example of a movie which had potential to be a good movie but it was ruined by poor writing of Shay Hatten.

Hypnotic (2021)
1/10
Nonsensical below average movie about hypnotherapy from bad directors
27 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After the movie 'The Open House' from 2018 directors decided to film a new movie called 'Hypnotic' which is a movie about a psychiatrist named Collin Made who is using hypnotherapy to control people for his evil plans by just saying a few words.

Directors of this movie are Suzanne Coote and Matt Angel who have been cooperating on their latest projects; they are most known for 'The Open House' which is not rated very well by users on IMDb and these qualities are very visible in this movie too. In the whole movie we are watching bad and unprofessional work from directors which have no logic. This movie has many problems from the side of logic because they are only creating movies to make money and this element is ruining their logical thinking or they have no talent to make a good movie because they have no feeling about it. When the main character Jenn Tompson (Kate Siegel) wakes up from the hypnosis she hears that someone is choking in her bathroom. Instead of running to the place and finding out what is going on, she is walking slowly with fear in her face as if there is a killer like Michael Myers and she is in his house. This is one of the most illogical scenes of this movie but there are so many scenes like this, but most of the most illogical scenes are caused by the writer not by the directors although it is in some point of view a problem of the directors too because they agreed with the screenplay. When Jenn called with Gina suddenly the call was starting to fall out because of a problem with the signal in the middle of the town, that is very logical, we were hearing the SFX of the falling signal. The SFX was so bad and vague that it is only good for B movies. Which is actually a B movie, so the SFX is good. When was Gina going by car with Scott and then they had a car accident and both of them died. The car accident was made in a way that Scott would survive, the car accident could be done more sophisticated and well executed. The last problem with the directors in this paragraph is that they were not able to get better performances from the actors than average, sometimes below average performances. The directors definitely do not have a talent to make good movies because they do not have the feeling for that and this is very important. To expect something good after 'The Open House' and 'Hypnotic' is very impossible.

The second big of the biggest problems is writer Richard D'Ovidio who is most known for 'The Call', 'The Forger', 'Thir13en Ghosts' and 'The Blacklist: Redemption'. After the experience which he gained through the years while he was writing his movies, it is not astonishing that he has written illogical and nonsensical movie 'Hypnotic'. Richard D'Ovidio has made more problems than the couple of directors. Some dialogues are not good because the writing is poor but in some cases where there were better dialogues there were below average performances of actors that ruined the better lines of dialogues. When Gina and Scott were going by car before their car accident Dr. Meade called Gina and then he said something about this looking like the end of the world and then Gina had illusions that on her chest was a spider. Gina wanted Scott to take the spider off but she didn't see anything on her chest. In real life a normal person would stop the car immediately and then go out to take off the spider by hand from the chest but in this movie she started to go faster and this caused the car accident. When Jenn had an outage because of the hypnosis she made something bad and then when she was talking to someone she suddenly remembered what she was doing during the outage, this is so illogical, how can someone while he had outage remember the situation what was doing during the outage. There are a very big amount of logical holes in the screenplay of this movie and there are not 5 or 6 problems with logic but there are eight up to twelve problems with logic and this number is very astonishing how can someone write the screenplay in a way like this with this big amount of logical problems.

This movie is based on likeable actors and this is not a problem. Movies can be based on likeable persons but it is important that they need to have energetic and good performances and this doesn't have the movie. This movie is based only on likeable actors who don't have good performances. The actor who has the role of the main character Jenn is Kate Siegel who can have good performance but she needs a good director, when she has good director she is able to bring good energetic performance but without the good director she is not able to do it. Other actors fit the role as Kate Siegel but they don't have good performances. Maybe because of average directors, I haven't seen any movie with these actors. Performance of actors is on a very strong average and sometimes below average and this is very sad because the actors could help this movie with the rating but they didn't.

Director of photography John S. Bartley did here a very average job and it is very debatable if he failed or half succeeded in this project because as I said the job which he did here is on very strong average because of the focus of camera and positioning of the camera. Scene where Meade was standing at the bar in his office and Jenn was here for the first time the camera has very strange focus and it was very strange how the scene was filmed.

Brian Ufberg who was the editor of this movie and his work feels in some scenes unprofessional and amateur because the style of editing feels for a rookie in this field. These people are maybe good for independent filmmakers but this movie is not definitely made by independent filmmakers and it is a shame for the directors that they did it like this.

This movie is just a money grabber and a nonsensical below average movie about hypnotherapy from bad directors without any horror atmosphere or deeper meaning.

Criminal: UK (2019–2020)
9/10
Unique and extremely entertaining short series about interrogation of suspects
27 October 2021
Season 1: The Netflix Original Series from 2019 called 'Criminal: UK' is about the interrogation of suspects that are accused of some crime.

Director of all episodes in season one is Jim Field Smith who is most known for 'Criminal: UK', 'Stag', 'The Wrong Mans' and 'She's Out of My League' which are quite well rated projects by users on IMDb. In the first season Jim Field Smith did a very good job because the season one is almost perfect. There is only one problem with the director and it is only detail. When Vanessa Warren (Rochenda Sandall) was interrogating someone she was speaking quietly and this is the problem because this will be recorded by microphone but it must be loud and clear and that was not the case here. Is visible that Jim Field Smith gained very much experience from previous years because what he did here is astonishing. Series or movies like 'Criminal: UK' needs very good director because is very important the point of view of the director, his imagination and is important that the director must get from actors very good and natural performances. In all these things Jim Field Smith succeeded and he created a very unconventional series with a very distinctive style of camera. In series or movies like this you can clearly see if the director is good or not because it can be recognized because director needs to get from actors good performances, good style of camera, style of editing and natural behaviour of actors. Everything like this is perfectly executed from director Jim Field Smith.

Creators of this series are Jim Field Smith and George Kay. George Kay has most experience with writing and he is most known for 'Lupin', 'Criminal: UK', 'Stag' and 'Killing Eve'. They have created for season one very unique stories of three suspects with tension, dramatic feeling and with magnificent storytelling. In series or movies like this you can see if the writer of the project is good or not and it is visible that the director and writer have very great fantasy, imagination and that the writer has the talent for making teleplays or screenplays like this series. The writer wrote this series in a very entertaining way that when they were talking for a very long time you would not be bored, rather on the contrary you will enjoy it. The writer said of every character from the police every important quality in a very good way, he said it to us by suggesting. The writer built a very good and strong atmosphere that wasn't ruined by anything. He has written this season so well that he was obviously thinking about what he will write next so as not to ruin the thrilling atmosphere of the episode.

Every actor is wisely chosen because of their visage. From the side of the casting directors there is very good contrast between the actors in sympathy because someone is less likeable than another actor. This contrast works here very well and it pushed the season to a higher level than it would be without this good casting directors. Every actor brought with them energy to their performances and this energy made these performances very natural.

Director of photography Jamie Cairney did a very amazing job here which no one will dump for a long time because he filmed amazing shots. He has done a very amazing shot here. It is a very big mystery how they filmed a scene where the camera should be visible in the reflection of the mirror but it wasn't and this could not be done with the illusion of the mirror. Every shot that was filmed is beautifully looking and the complete visuals of this series is amazing.

The music which was composed by Robin Foster is composed very well and it completes the last piece of the dramatic and thrilling atmosphere. The music is perfect in every way.

This is a unique and extremely entertaining short series about interrogation of suspects. This season one is very well executed with professionals who are on a very high level in quality. Criminal: UK is a series with outstanding visuals and performance of actors.

Into the Night (II) (2020–2021)
7/10
In first season writer used the full potential of the novel but in the second season writer throw the potential to trash bin and created worse the season two
26 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Season 1: Into the Night is a Sci-Fi Netflix Original Series about a new problem with the sun and its dangers. While sunrise the glow of the sun falls on the skin it will through bigger gamma radiation kill the entire human body. This story in Season 1 follows 12 people who are flying in an airplane to the west to avoid the sunrise because they want to survive. While they are flying and arriving at the airports while they need to refill the fuel some bad things start to happen to them and they must deal with it.

Directors of first six episodes are a couple of directors Inti Calfat and Dirk Verheye who have directed 'L'Opéra', 'Into the Night' and 'Over Water'. These directors have directed many projects and there is a visible professional feeling from it. Some things could be better in the directing style and logic from the side of the directors but this series is fine and it is not bad from the side of the directors. Directors developed the Sci-Fi and thrilling atmosphere very well and this is one of the most important things of this series. As it follows from the text, directors made a minimum of problems in this series. One of the problems with directors is that in one scene they have made SFX very unrealistic because it was louder than it is in real life, because the SFX could be heard through many rooms when is evident that the thing can't make a sound like this that the sound will be heard through many walls and rooms. The second problem is that when they want something to translate from the radio, the Horst is walking as nothing is happening, it could be done better with some dramatic feeling. Next problem is that when panic broke out at the airplane Ayaz stole from the Terenzio weapon which he has and there is the problem. Terenzio, who has experience with command and so on, would better guard his weapon in situations like this.

Teleplay for the first season was written by creator of this whole series Jason George who is most known for 'Vice', 'Into the Dark', 'Alice in the Borderland' and 'Nashville' (everything as producer). After his many experiences with reading screenplays and writing the screenplays it could be better because the whole idea which is based on the novel by Jacek Dukaj is very good but the writing is in some situations poor and the whole logic of some situations is on a low level. There are many problems with small or little details but there are problems with big logic holes or very visible problems too. At the beginning in the first episode is first problem in this series, the problem is that when Mathieu Daniel Douek (pilot of an airplane, Laurent Capelluto) heard something is happening on the board at the airplane he came out from the cabin, if passengers are on the board, to look what is happening there, but there is problem with that pilot can't came out from the cabin even if there is happening anything. When internet at the airplane was repaired and they were with airplane on the ground some notifications, for which was needed internet to work, came to the telephones of the pilots and there is question, how could the notifications, which they need internet to work, arrive on the phones of the pilots if they were not on the telephones before. If they turned on wifi in the fly mode they could show to us that they have done it. At the end of one episode there was a cliché ending because when soldiers were asking where they were going Sylvie Bridgette Dubois told them "Into the Night" which is the name of the series and when she was saying this, everything with the context felt very cringe. In the first season of this episode there were many problems with the logic and there were a few of every problem which were found in this serie one. The rest of the teleplay is quite good with very well written tense, natural behaviour of the people in different and hard situations.

Casting director did a very good job here because everyone of the actors fit the role and they brought with them very good, natural and convincing performances. Their performances complete the whole atmosphere and quality of the whole series.

Thomas Hardmeier did a very good job here because the whole look and style of this series is very good and this is a good type of art in dramatic and sci-fi series. The visual of the whole first season is very good and there wasn't any problem from the side of the director of cinematography. He has done his work for this first series very well.

Music in the first season is good but nothing special but is noticeable that it is music from programs like FL Studio. Is noticeable that the music is not performed in real life and it was an only digital orchestra. But as I said the music is quite good.

In one scene there was a problem with VFX because it felt very cheap and poorly executed, but it wasn't something that was a very big problem. In other scenes the VFX was very well done and very well executed.

Season one was very good but from the side of teleplay it could be better because this was the one big problem why this season is nothing special and if this wasn't any new idea of a story this would be a plain and poor series. But what is good in the teleplay is emotions and dialogues.

70%

Season 2: The second series of Into the Night continues the story from the first series but it is worse than the first series.

Director of the episodes of the second series is Camille Delamarre who is most known for 'Last Call', 'Brick Mansions', 'Lock Out' and 'The Transporter Refueled' (mostly known for directing). After not much experience with making good movies she decided she will be director for season 2 'Into the Night' and she handled it very well and she turned it with the directing style to a very good series in only a side of directing. There was only one problem with the directing. The problem is that when Zara Oblonskaya was with her son in a room with only one light, the audience could see that on the hand of Zara was a visible reflection of another light that was not there. But it is very visible that Camillie Delamarre handled the directing on a high level and it is as good as the directors of the first season.

Teleplay was written by the same writer as in the first season, it was written by Jason George. He has written this season too, but over episodes it is worse and worse. There are many problems with logic and some things are scripted and it is very visible and very unnatural. In this season is not a very big problem the director or music or camera, the biggest problem is the writer. When there appeared a tense situation it wasn't intense and from what was working in season one wasn't working there, in season two, because it was poorly written.

Actors here were good as in the first season and the actors who were new here fit the roles too and they have very good performances too.

Camera was very good here and the director of photography did it very well and with the same qualities as in the first season.

Music wasn't as good this season as in the first season. Music in the first season was quite good and nothing special. In season two the music turned from quite good to very average music which is very similar to music which sounds like royalty free dramatic and thrilling music on YouTube.

In season one there was one problem with the VFX and there weren't any problems with that. They moved from a good VFX with one problem to a very good and almost excellent VFX which has no problems.

Season two is an above average Sci-Fi series which has very big problems with logic. This series has good performances by actors but teleplay ruined the potential of this second season.

Anima (I) (2019)
7/10
Highly entertaining and interesting short musical movie with gorgeous music
25 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Anima is a short musical movie with Thom Yorke in the main role and gorgeous music from Nigel Godrich and Thom Yorke too.

This short movie was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson who is most known for 'Punch-Drunk Love' (2002), 'There Will Be Blood' (2007, 'Boogie Nights' (1997) and 'Inherent Vice' (2014). There are only two problems with the director. The first problem is that there was not in one scene logic because Thom Yorke came to the terminal and he couldn't go through it and he was trying and trying to come through instead of jumping through it. Second problem is that in one shot of the scene the lighting and shadows are in a different direction than in the second shot of the same scene but from another angle. If we will omit these two little details this is a very good short musical movie with very strong directing style and the whole movie is like a little art. The whole execution of this short movie is breathtaking and very different from other short musical movies. This short movie is the true definition of an abstract short movie. There are very good looking dance moves which are in the style of a short movie like this in the right place.

Every actor perfectly fits their roles and Thom Yorke is very good and thanks to his very good performance he completes the whole very strong atmosphere of this whole movie. Dajana Roncione who has the role of Featured Performer was wisely chosen by the director of casting because she fits Thom Yorke and the "romantic" scenes where there are both of them are very strong and emotional.

Director of photography Darius Khondji filmed every scene in a very good way of art that every shot is spectacular and fantastic with highly interesting visuals. On the whole the quality of the camera is visible that behind this short musical movie is professional production with a big budget, because evidently the director of photography did not shoot scenes as amateur.

Costumes for this short movie were created by Johanna Garrad. The costumes may seem very simple to the eye and the truth is that the costumes are simple, but the simplicity is working for this type of movie.

Location management Etienne Cannavo, Pepa Hanulik, Roman Potucek and Olivier Sifre have wisely chosen the locations for this movie. The locations are working for this short movie and there is not any problem with the locations because as I've already said that the locations are very good and wisely chosen.

Nigel Godrich and Thom Yorke have created gorgeous and very good music. It is a pity that the short movie is not longer because you will fall in love with that music.

Anima is a highly entertaining and interesting short musical movie with gorgeous music from already mentioned Nigel Godrich and Thom Yorke. This short musical movie is a movie with an interesting, abstract and strange idea of creating a movie. Paul Thomas Anderson handled it very well and the final product could be done as a full featurette movie because this is like a play which could be processed into a screenplay for a full length movie.

Movie without any logic, atmosphere, and good performance of actors
25 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After the successful movie 'Halloween' from 2018 which was directed by David Gordon Green returned this year to the next movie from the Halloween series 'Halloween Kills' which is directed by David Gordon Green too. When someone sees that the Halloween Kills is directed by the same director of the first one 'Halloween' from 2018, which was very successful as from worldwide gross, user reviews and critic reviews, he says to himself that it can be a good sequel, but the result is that this sequel is not good at all and it is only waste of time with this illogical, badly written, badly directed and badly filmed piece of trash.

As I mentioned before this movie is the sequel of the 'Halloween' movie from 2018 and it is directed by the same person David Gordon Green who is most known for 'Halloween' (2018), 'George Washington' (2000), 'Halloween Kills' (2021) and 'Joe' (2013). The major problem of this movie is the director and screenplay, because there were the most mistakes and these two things ruined the whole experience of the Halloween series. The major problems are from the whole start until to the end of the movie. One of the major problems which are very visible is the performance of actors which are on a strong average. Rest of the major problems can be for someone just little details. Next major problem is that there is no horror atmosphere here. This is the reason why every tense situation feels plain without any soul and intensity of fear of a character who is in a difficult situation. From the side of the director there wasn't any emphasis on creating any horror atmosphere, this is just a headless movie about an immortal killer. When firemen arrived at the house of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), one fireman was walking on the floor and he soon fell down through the floor to the basement where Michael Myers was imprisoned by Laurie Strode. House was on fire and inside there was a very big amount of smoke from the fire. Michael Myers killed the one fireman in the basement, at this moment there was not very big amount of smoke, after short while there arrived second fireman who wanted to help to the first fireman so he held out his hand and when he held his hand there was by some magic summoned bigger amount of smoke which there wasn't 30 seconds before. The next problem is when some characters were shooting from any old gun, mostly older weapons or pistols, there sometimes wasn't any recoil or little blink when the character was shooting. One scene where Michael Myers was in the car and he slammed into the car's window and the window cracked, was created illogically only for the good feeling and because it looks good. When you think about it you will come to a conclusion that this situation makes no sense, because how can a car's window crack after a big slam from a person who has not almost any muscles on his hands. Some scenes where Michael Myers was killing someone were executed so badly that if you saw it in the 90's you would say to yourself "Wow! This looks awesome!" but these days you would say to yourself that it is ridiculous that someone can do these scenes so badly that it looks like it's from the 90's when we are clearly in 2021. A good example of a badly executed killing scene is the scene almost at the end where Michael Myers kills Big John. The shot where Michael Myers pushed into his eyes and the style of how the eyes were going out of the skull was very badly executed, this would be only a great execution of the scene for the 90's. When I think now about why there is no horror atmosphere I came to the conclusion that the reason is maybe because there are so many problems with the director that he ruined almost everything that could be good in this movie.

Screenplay was written by three writers Scott Teems, Danny McBride and David Gordon Green. Scott Teems was writing a screenplay for the Halloween series for the first time and Danny McBride and David Gordon Green have written Halloween from 2018, so they knew what they were doing and with this knowledge they failed and created from Michael Myers a person who is an immortal killing machine without a brain. They have written a screenplay which contains only lines without any logic, bad emotions and behaviour of some characters in difficult and thrilling situations, bad dialogues, some characters without brains, etc. As I have said about the bad behaviour of some characters there was a very good situation to stick it out because it was so bad that it must be stuck out. The scene was that one boy was going on a grass and suddenly he sees that police man is lying on the floor and when he was yelling on him, he don't answered, he started to running to him and instead of calling immediately on 911 he started yelling 'Help!'. Normal people in these situations when someone is bleeding from the neck, they would call 911 immediately and then yell for help. Writers created from Michael Myers something that is not a human because when he was in a house which was on the fire and in which when there were firemen must have oxygen bombs so they don't suffocate and Myers do not must have the oxygen bomb and he don't suffocate too. This is very illogical and very sad that this very visible part does not occur to writers to do it in some other way. When Michael Myers went out of the house which was on fire the fireman was starting to spray water on him with the fire hose and it did not do anything to him. In normal situations it will pull the person on the ground but not Myers. When the firemen are going to kill Michael Myers they go after him illogically one by one and he with simple logic kills the firemen one by one. When one fireman with chainsaw was going after Myers. Chainsaw is visibly not any problem for Myers because he by some way overcomes in strength trained and very strong fireman and kills him with fireman's chainsaw. There is a very visible next problem: when Myers kills someone, he manages to arrange dead bodies to look interesting and thrilling without anyone noticing, when he is hunted by many people from town. Next the people who have guns are not able to shoot Michael Myers when he is standing on one spot. Almost at the end of the movie characters are starting to say foolish sentences which are overfilled with clichés.

Actors fit their roles perfectly but not their performances which are on a very strong average and sometimes below average. In this movie there are no actors who have very good or only good performances.

Director of cinematography was Michael Simmonds who is most known for 'Halloween' (2018), Nerve (2016), 'The Lunchbox' (2013) and ''White Girl (2016). There were some problems too with the camera but there are not so many problems than pros. The camera could be in some situations better but in the rest of the movie the camera was good, not very good just good. Problems with the camera were when in one scene could be captured emotions of characters there are just only captured glasses of some alcohol in hands of characters. Next problem was the angle of the camera. In some situations it could be better but this is not any very big problem which could ruin the movie experience.

Halloween Kills is a movie without any logic, atmosphere, and good performance of the actors. This movie is a very bad sequel to 'Halloween' from 2018 without any logic, brain, atmosphere or any good performance by the actors. This movie is only a cash grab and trash with poor writing and directing.

Midnight Mass (2021)
5/10
Very bad horror story from a mind of a falling logic and good writing of Mike Flanagan
24 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After a year after The Haunting of Bly Manor there is the next new TV Mini Series from a horror mind of Mike Flanagan and it is as bad as The Haunting of Hill House. Midnight Mass is a very bad horror story from a mind of a falling logic and good writing of Mike Flanagan.

Midnight Mass is a new Netflix TV Mini Series which has seven episodes and each episode is one book, so there are seven books. After the car accident which caused it, one of main characters Riley Flynn (Zach Gilfrod) is going back after many years to an island to see and live again with his family. After Flynn's arrival will arrive on an island Father Paul (Hamish Linklater) who came back from a long journey with an angel in his wooden chest. From this moment strange things will start happening on this island through the angel and faith.

Director of this whole TV Mini Series is Mike Flanagan who has a quite interesting background, because he directed many series and movies and many of them have good directing style but no good teleplay or screenplay. He brought many experiences from his work to this and some things which worked in his previous work, don't work here in this series. There are many reasons why after many years Mike Flanagan failed in this series as a director. One of the reasons is that in some scenes, especially at the beginning of this series, when there was a good horror atmosphere then they ruined it by bad transition or camera angle. His negligence and inattention ruined the atmosphere too, because there was happening that on thing was in one shot and in next shot of the same scene but from other camera angle the props just appears with no reason and this is proof of that he was during filming this series in inattention. There are many reasons why Mike Flanagan from directors point of view failed during filming this series, there were many problems with that from ruining the good horror atmosphere to bad transitions up to bad performance of actors and illogical physics problems with shooting from a weapon.

Creator and teleplay writer of this series is Mike Flanagan who is most known for writing 'The Haunting of Hill House', 'The Haunting of Bly Manor', 'Doctor Sleep' and 'Gerald's Game'. After these projects there is the Midnight Mass which is full of illogical situations and bad writing. In the first episodes of this series there are many problems with teleplay. The first problem is that the scenes are written in which Mike Flanagan builds the tense and atmosphere in the teleplay and then he ruined it with a bad transition in a bad situation to the next scene which is unrelated to the previous scene. The transitions at the wrong time are only in the first and second episode, in next episodes there are not any problems with that but it is very sad that writer with so much experience write foolish transitions between scenes at the wrong time. Some parts of some episodes, the problem is in most episodes after the half of this series, so this problem usually mostly concerns from 5th up to 7th episode, are written to fill the hole and stretch the watch time to one hour by boring and long conversation between two people. Length of the conversation is not any problem but it is badly written in a boring way that it is not interesting and this causes that the conversations are in some parts boring.

Actors in most cases fit the role but as it follows there are some actors that don't fit the role and it could be better if there were other actors. Zach Gilford as Riley Flynn doesn't really fit the role and with his performances on average it looks for the whole series badly and it could be something fresh if there will be another actor who would better portray the role. There is a problem with Zach Gilford's performance because he didn't go to this project with any energy and he does not sympathize with the character. And the second problem is that the characteristics which are said through the series don't fit the visage of the actor. The second actor where is some problem with casting is Alex Essoe who had role of old mother of Dr. Sarah Gunning, the name of her character is Mildred Gunning. In this series characters rejuvenate and there is the problem with Alex Essoe. The problem is that she plays the role for young and older Mildred Gunning and for the middle process of rejuvenation she doesn't fit the role and everything about her is unnatural and it doesn't feel realistic. This is the director's, director's of casting and writer's problem. The rest of the actors perfectly fits the role and their performance is sometimes insufficient. For example this is problem of Kate Siegel who has character of Erin Geene, she in one scene have very good performance and in this moment there is nothing to say but in second scene she have performance on very strong average and in this moment there is something to say.

In most cases Michael Fimognari, who is director of photography for this series, has done pretty well but there are some very visible problems with his directing of photography and shooting scenes. In the first episode there is one big problem with his camera. When Father Paul returns to the house there is a problem with one shot which is shot from above and in the shot we can see nothing to see what Father Paul is doing, it could be better if the shot was cleverly done from another angle. I must say that this problem was in this episode, the rest of the series there wasn't any problem with the camera.

Editing was done by Mike Flanagan and there are some little problems with this too. The editing is in some cases very good and without any problems but there as I said are problems with the editing. There is a problem with the transition making for this series. Mike Flanagan was trying by some transitions to scare us and this created a bad mood from the whole series and it was done sometimes in some strange way that didn't look good. Mike Flanagan could forgive for next time the one big horror cliché when someone appears fast or the situation is scary and you will put the music on loud and you will be afraid of the music not from the scary action. But the rest of the editing was pretty good and well executed.

This TV Mini Series Midnight Mass is a horror series with not any new elements and only alternates the old classic elements of horror and in some ways they are trying to with these old and cliché elements work but it will result in bad horror which is scary but there is no logic and good writing, this is great problem with this series.

The White Lotus (2021–2025)
8/10
Funny dark comedy with stunning visuals and a great story about vacationing in Hawaii
19 October 2021
New HBO series The White Lotus is about that we are following events of eight rich people Tanya, Nicol, Rachel, Quinn, Shane, Paula, Olivia and Mark who came to the White Lotus resort for vacation.

Director of this whole TV series is Mike White who is most known as director for Brad's Status, Year of the Dog, Enlightened and Mamma Dallas. In this series there are almost any problems. The problems are not about the director but it is about the screenplay, audio etc. Director brought with him a very relaxing style of directing which fits the atmosphere of the whole series. The atmosphere and illusion that you are on vacation too is completed by the music which is a little bit louder but this fits and completes the atmosphere of the whole series. There were very good, imaginative and stunning transitions between scenes too. There is a very good detail. The detail is that every important thing or act has a detailed shot on it and this shows the importance of the act or thing and that is very good detail.

Screenplay for all episodes of this series is written by Mike White who is most known for his writing for Chuck & Buck, The School of Rock, The Good Girl and Orange County. The most movies of what he is most known for are mostly good comedies, so it is very visible that Mike White has any background on how to make a good comedy and he succeeded while he was creating this whole new series for HBO. This whole series is very funny and accompanies dark comedy which is on almost every corner of the resort and it is a very good decision to create a very fresh and funny summer series. This is very important thing and it is stunning that writer Mike White is able to switch from dark comedy to an drama from second to second, because there was some situations when it switched from a dark comedy to an serious drama and it was a very good and the transition of the words were very astonishing and this is the good example of good writing. This is a very good side of this series which has the HBO Original series Succession too. The good side is that something doesn't have to happen and the story and dialogues are so interesting that you will not be bored while watching this series. After this praise there is one problem with the screenplay problem which is in all episodes. The problem is that Mike White decided to put the intro at the beginning and the execution of the intro is terrible and boring. The intro was put into the series in the first seconds so when you start playing the series, the intro will show up without any knowledge or something like that why the intro is in this style like this and so long.

For this series they picked three young actors for main characters and five older actors for other main characters and it is working together very well. Actors are chosen pretty well and there is no time for hesitation if the actors are really good enough with they're visage for the role. There was no time for hesitation because the actors are very good for the roles that the time was not needed at all.

Ben Kutchins was picked to shoot scenes for this whole series and he created very beautiful shots of scenes that are in the correct mood of the whole series and it is not interrupting the whole atmosphere of this series. Some shots are very original. Ben Kutchins did a very good job here and there is no doubt that he failed during shooting the scenes.

Color grading here was very colorful and very good looking for eyes, scenes were not cheesy and definitely not overcolored at all. The whole saturation is very nice and everything from the colors perfectly fit the atmosphere of the family vacation in Hawaii in summer.

The conclusion for season one is that this is a very good and funny dark comedy with stunning visuals and a great story about vacationing in Hawaii in the resort The White Lotus. I can only recommend this season one of The White Lotus for everyone who likes and understands dark comedy.

Sad story about greed and how Google used small companies to earn more and more money
18 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
New Netflix TV Mini Series called The Billion Dollar Code is based on a true story about how the true inventors of Google Earth got hooked on one big lie and lost several million dollars. But there was one problem: the inventors of TerraVision (it was released a few years earlier than Google Earth) patented their idea and execution of the code, so they were able to suit Google.

Director of all episodes is Robert Thalheim who is director of seven germany movies. That the director is not very or quite known, he has done this TV Mini Series very well but there are some mistakes with the visual of the final product. In some scenes the visual felt very unnatural and cheap. In the most this was a problem of shots from above and the effects they used to make the atmosphere look very cheap. In the final episode there is a problem with that scene. They are going on the street and behind them was mist, it looked very cheap too and it could have done better. Except for this there were not any problems with the director, not at all.

Showrunner of all episodes is Oliver Ziegenbalg who is a Germany screenwriter and he has not done anything known worldwide but there he succeeded. He has done a very good, entertaining and he showed to us a perspective what Google did in his past when he was at the time very successful. This series was very entertaining and first with it's idea, to create something about Google. There was not any problem at all with the screenplay, I think that the screenplay is without any mistakes and created in a way that is entertaining for everyone who wants to see this lawsuit between Art+Com (inventors of TerraVision) and Google (Google copied their code without any permission).

The main actors, young and older, fit their roles and they went to this with such energy and determination to create characters with natural behaviour and feelings in situations. The performance of actors is at a very high level if we will see that from the side that they are not any known. But if they were known, they are still very good actors because they can act like normal people and their performance is natural. As I mentioned the main characters fit their role and the casting director Simone Bär, who is most known for a casting department for Inglorious Basterds, Babylon Berlin, Good Bye Lenin! And Dark, did a very good job because she has chosen not just likeable actors for their roles but they have chosen not very known actors worldwide with a talent for acting.

Director of cinematography Henner Besuch did a good job here. The camera feels generic, but still very good and for this is the style good but it could be better because series like this needs something different from the camera than others. The perfect example is Andrij Parekh who is very good, I think that he is one of the high level cinematographers, in what he is doing. From his camera you can feel emotions without the feelings of actors, this is a true art that needs Henner Besuch to improve. From the screen you must feel the emotions of the characters not only see the emotions, you must feel it.

The music created by Uwe Bossenz and Anton Feist is not dominant here but still good and fits the style of the series. They have made mady songs with a retro 90's feeling but it is a pity that it is not as significant as it could be.

This TV Mini Series is a very good but sad story about greed and how Google used small companies to earn more and more money. As I said this is a very sad story and in the last episode it is very significant and they put a lot of emphasis on it because it is important to know how Google started and how Google operated when the company was at the time very known. I can recommend it for everyone, even for the people who don't know a lot about IT or computers, this series is made for this company of people.

Tough masterpiece about love in marriage and with a brilliant performance of actors
18 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Scenes From a Marriage is a remake of 1973 series Scener ur ett äktenskap and is about a happy couple. One night Mira comes home and tells Jonathan that she is in love with someone and after that she will want to divorce, about this is Scenes From a Marriage. About how they lived a happy life, about they divorced and then they are finding a way to get back together.

Creator and director of all of the episodes is Hagai Levi who directed In Treatment, BeTipul, 101 and The Accursed. Except for In Treatment are all other series quite not known and this is a very big surprise that he was able to bring to our screens such a masterpiece like this. The director was so important here because in some episodes they are fighting and for the energy of emotions a good director is needed because he needs to push the actors to the best possible performance for the episode. The directing was so good that there were not any mistakes and everything feels so smooth and realistic in this that the director doesn't mess it up or something like that, this is a very good job of director.

Teleplay was written by the creator of this series, Hagai Levi. Because I claimed before that this TV Mini Series is such a masterpiece, so it is obvious that there is no mistake here too. The writing is on a high level and it is hard to overcome it, but I think that this topic of a series is for someone very hard to watch because this is a story about how they were been together and after some time divorced and because this could be experienced many people so they will not watch this and they did rather watch something else. I think there is a very big problem with this series, very big realism and this is the reason why this will not be accepted by many people.

Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac are perfect for this TV Mini Series not just because they are sympathetic but because they went to this with such energy and very top notch performance that it is very hard to overcome it and I think that excellent performance like this will not see in other actors for a long time. Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac fit their role and this was a perfect choice because they not just fit the role but fit together.

Cinematography director was Andrij Parekh who was filming episodes for a next excellent series Succession. The cinematography was as in his habit perfect and different from other series. His style of shooting a scene is different from others because you can feel from all his episodes something more than just feelings of actors or atmosphere. You can feel the story and everything thanks to his style feels different. Perfection.

Locations for this series were chosen wisely and with perfection because the locations for the people like this, this is a perfect choice. Location of their house is perfect because this completes the atmosphere of an American family like this, not much rich but on a higher level than others.

Classical music perfectly fits the atmosphere and topic of this series. Evgueni Galperine and Sacha Galperine did a perfect job here because you can feel the emotions and feelings of the characters just from the music. If you hear the music without the screen it is not the same but you can feel their emotions.

Scenes From a Marriage is a tough masterpiece about love in marriage and with a brilliant performance of actors. This whole series is just perfection. This is a very good example of a true art of series. I can only recommend it for people who don't mind this topic.

After all these years we have got a highly entertaining, witty and emotional Bond movie
17 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Movie No Time to Die is the latest 007 movie in 2021 with Daniel Craig in the main role as James Bond. This movie has a classic plot - good is fighting against evil but it is fresh and done better than other 007 movies, because in the movies before they did not have any new element it was the same over and over and this Cary Joji Fukunaga changed for this movie. He used some clichés and put it to the plot intelligently and he created a very good and fresh plot for the 007 movie.

Director of this movie is Cary Joji Fukunaga who directed Beasts of No Nation, True Detective S1, Jane Eyre, etc. The directing of this movie is brilliant and the best directing that I have ever seen in James Bond movies. Finally one director has learned from the mistakes of directors of the older Bond movies and created movie with realism and logic. For this movie I can't say some mistakes, except the little one that is not that important, from the side of the director because he didn't have any mistake in directing, in the script is one mistake that was very visible. The little one mistake that I have spoken is that when was Safin calling to Madeleine there appeared on the screen logo / icon of his "organization" - this is not able to do in this world at this moment, yeah there are many technical conveniences that are not able to create in this world, but some of the technical conveniences belongs to the James Bond movies but this technical convenience is not, so I think that this wasn't necessary but as I said, this is not any big problem, this is just a detail. Intro was very well done because the intro is very interesting and creative.

Screenplay for this movie was written by Cary Joji Fukunaga, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. Everyone has good experience with good writing and they put the good writing to this movie, improved the concept of 007 cliché plot and they created this very good and funny movie. This "episode" of 007 was a little bit more romantic but that doesn't matter for this movie, because they did it in a good way that it belongs to this episode of 007. But after this praise there is one problem with the screenplay and the problem is that when James Bond was standing on the bridge and people from bike and car were shooting at him and they didn't hit him, not even once when he was standing in one position on the bridge. This was a very visible and unnecessary mistake from writers. For all the old fans of 007 they explained why the woman got the number 007 and how it is possible, this was a very good move from the side of writers. Every move of the characters was logical. Character development here is very good and for the 007 series brilliant, because they developed emotions between characters and viewers. But if we will omit these mistakes, this is a very good movie.

Actors and their performances are very good and unforgettable. Every actor fits the role that they accepted and their performances on a high level.

Camera was very good and every old fan of the 007 movies will like this movie at least from the camera side, because the director of photography and director picked the old style of shooting and editing James Bond movies and they succeeded, because this is pure nostalgia. They picked the old style of shooting of James Bond but they put to this old style some elements of modern shooting and they succeeded too.

No Time to Die is an unforgettable James Bond movie with elements of old scenes shooting. After all these years we have got a highly entertaining, witty and emotional Bond movie. Some scenes were better because of some jokes that were done by some characters and this guaranteed that you would definitely not be bored in the cinema or at your screens at home.

The Guilty (2021)
4/10
Dull and silly rewriting of the original screenplay to English but in a worse way
16 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The Guilty is a 2021 Netflix movie about a man named Joe Baylor (Jake Gyllenhaal) who is a police line operator on 911. One day before trial because of his incident with a 19 years old child will call 911 crying woman Emily Lighton and tell him that she was abducted.

The director of this movie was Antoine Fuqua who was director of The Equalizer, The Magnificent Seven, Southpaw and Brooklyn's Finest. The style of directing was quite well done but there were some problems with the directing and visual style of this movie. Antoine Fuqua failed for a few actors because he wasn't able to bring better performances of some actors. This is a type of movie where a very good director and style is important, but Antoine Fuqua brought to this movie many styles of camera so it wasn't as good as it was expected. After these little details there are two big and important details. The first detail is that in one scene where police arrived at the white van because they thought it was the van which they were looking for. One policeman said that there was dust and smoke and this was the reason why they couldn't see the color of the van. The director did this scene so bad, that the viewer sees that there is a little amount of the dust and smoke and he can see the color of the van, but the policeman was saying that there is such a big amount of the dust and smoke that they can't see the color. This is the worst executed scene I have ever seen in this movie. The second detail is not a detail anymore. This is a very important element which is missing in this movie, the element is the atmosphere of the movie.

Screenplay was written by Nic Pizzolato who has done a very successful HBO Original series 'True Detective'. After some complexity of True Detective I was expecting a better version of the original movie Den skyldige, but I was wrong. This movie is a dull and silly rewriting of the original screenplay to English but in a worse way. Some dialogs in this movie were weird, the whole sequence of the events was poorly done and in the original movie it was done better. The sense of this movie is that the viewer sees and hears what sees and hears the main character, in this case it is Joe Baylor and this was violated and this is a one of the reason why this movie hasn't any atmosphere because it was violated by a few scenes that viewer sees and the main character don't. Whole situations were weirdly done because he was at the police 911 line and when he had a phone call for example with his wife Jess Baylor anyone wasn't calling him to 911 and after the phone call someone called to him. There was one logic problem in the script and it is that the mother of the two children Emily Lighton did something wrong to her son. She ripped open his stomach and "she took out snakes from his stomach". At the end of the movie we learned that the baby who was lying on the bed with an open body for many hours and with no crying or something else, is alive in the hospital. This violated the atmosphere of the movie too, because this isn't here the good feeling that he has a woman who is a monster because she killed her own child. This movie is one of the worst remakes of the past ten years because of the bad execution of the screenplay.

Jake Gyllenhaal in his main role of Joe Baylor did a very good and energetic performance. There is no problem with that. On the contrary this was the best element of the movie. Riley Keough who had the role of the maniac did a very good job too. But the almost not known actors did here a very bad job because they didn't feel their roles and the director was not able to get out from them better performance, this is a very important thing for movie like this where you are hearing only words and emotions, in these actors was problem with the emotions, they weren't able to bring natural and convincing emotions and feelings.

Soundtrack for this movie was good but not good for some scenes of this movie. The tension and beats of the music was good but as I said the music doesn't fit the feelings and emotions of the movie. In some cases the music was so loud that it violated the atmosphere which was not there at all.

They bring to this movie two styles of the camera which they intertwined. The one style is perfect for this style of the movie, but the second style was something that does not belong there. In comparison the second style was so different from the first style that I don't believe that they have done this.

This movie is good if you watch it without the audio, but with the audio it is not that good at all. The screenplay ruined the whole movie because of recklessness.

Candyman (2021)
1/10
This is a good nonsensical story for little kids, but bad story for teens and adults
11 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After more than 20 years Jordan Peele and Nia DaCosta decided to bring a new version of Candyman from 1992, but it is not good. Story of this movie follows man Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) who is quite a successful artist and one day he is finding what he can to paint. One night he hears a story from a place that is near to his apartment and he tries to find any inspiration for his new paintings and from this moment things are going worse.

Director Nia DaCosta has behind one movie 'Little Woods' - a critically acclaimed movie. Nia DaCosta failed in her role as director in this movie. Director and executive producers are responsible for the movie and these people failed, because they made a movie very strong below the average. The intro for this movie is not well crafted because there are two minutes of only music; text of producers, writers, etc and many shots of buildings from below. There is not any problem that this intro has two minutes, not at all, but there is a problem with the shots - the shots look for the first ten or fifteen seconds cool and pretty well done but after forty five seconds or minute, this is unwatchable and painful to watch. Next, this movie failed as a horror because there is not built any atmosphere of the movie. It is very hard to build a very good and strong horror atmosphere but this makes the horror movie.

Screenplay is written by Jordan Peele (most known for Get Out), Win Rosenfeld (most known as a producer) and Nia DaCosta (most known for the Candyman 2021 movie). The most interesting part of this movie for many viewers is that this movie is written by Jordan Peele, but in this movie he failed. Writers created a horror cliché story from 90's, which is very bad because in 90's was easier to create a horror movie with talking to mirror and summon someone because this was new and original story for these years, but for today this is very good nonsensical story for little kids, but not that good for teens and adults. The Dialogue in this movie is very bad and the characters don't talk like regular people, all of the dialogues don't feel natural. There is character development but not that good, because they wanted to take it very fast and they forgot about the character development. As I said the character development is here but not that good for a good movie. There were in some scenes very illogical decisions and some things in this movie are very illogical. Writers did a very average job here because they completely forgot about the atmosphere - this is one of the reasons why this movie does not have any atmosphere.

The casting director did a good job here but not that good. Some characteristics of some characters don't fit the actors and it looks weird. Performance of the actors in this movie is on a very strong average and sometimes the performance is below average. Maybe this is the type of actors that they need the director to push them to bring better performance, but there the director Nia DaCosta failed. The average performance of actors here is very obvious and this is the reason why this movie has no atmosphere and why almost everything feels unnatural.

Camera was in some scenes pretty good and as I said the shots of the buildings from below are cool and pretty good but this is only a few scenes from the entire movie. The director of cinematography used in some scenes an old style of shooting a movie, but he failed. The old style doesn't fit the style and theme of the movie.

Music in this movie is very good and the composer did a very good and solid job.

Editor of this movie after all the killers, she has done the last stab, because she didn't realise that she is not editing any video on YouTube. The editing is so amateur that it is very hard to watch and from a professional company is this very unprofessional that a movie like this is editing an unprofessional human like this. Editor in some cases did an inappropriate cut that killed everything that the writers and director wanted to create. The editing of the SFX here is very bad too. Director and editor forgot that the sound of light does not have to be for every light. They made the SFX so loud that after some sounds of light it was annoying. In some cases they made SFX so bad that it was in some scenes very unnatural.

Remake of Candyman from 1992 is a big disaster and they failed in creating this movie. The story is not remade for the year 2021, so the story feels very old. This is a very good but nonsensical story for little kids, but not that good for teens and adults. After seeing the trailer of Candyman 2021 version this is a big disappointment and everything that looks good is put into the trailer.

The Chestnut Man (2021– )
7/10
Classic crime series without any memorable and original style
9 October 2021
New Scandinavian series from Netflix called 'The Chestnut Man' is a good and suspenseful spectacle of the 2021 crime series.

This new Netflix series is about a killer who leaves on a crime scene a small figurine from chestnut and matches.

Directors of this series are Mikkel Serup and Kasper Barfoed. Both directors have any experience before The Chestnut Man and this is very visible in this series, because the style of camera and atmosphere is very good and in some scenes breathtaking. Except for small details, there weren't almost any problems with directing, but in the last episode the directing and script were very bad because there were some illogical problems and in some cases characters were blind. As I said, except for the last episode, the directors did a very good job.

Creators behind this series are Dorte Warnøe Høgh, David Sandreuter and Mikkel Serup. Writing is on a very high level but this is not enough yet for a very good and perfect series. From a very good and perfect series this is too far, because of some small details which were very important and necessary for some viewers. The story and dialogues are very good and I think that for casual viewers this is a very good and perfect series, but for more difficult viewers this is a good but not that good as True Detective, because this has some style but not memorable style and almost nothing original. These days there are many crime series and many of them are the same and follow the template - this is the reason, because there are many of them and it is difficult to bring something new to this genre but it is not impossible, as I said the True Detective series was very original not because of the complex plot but only for the original and memorable style. This new and original is missing in this series.

Actors in this series are very good and almost perfect, because the visage of the actors fits to their roles perfectly except for one. One actor doesn't fit his role because of his visage and the actor is Anders Hove who had the role Aksel. The role for the Aksel is not good for him because the style of his communication and behaviour don't fit to the visage of the person but except this role, the rest of the actors are very good and wisely chosen.

The camera is very good but in some cases the camera is bad because of its focus on some objects. They wanted to show some things which were important for the scene and situation, but the things they wanted to show were not focused and were blurred. Camera is good but not very good and not perfect. The situations I described were very important and it disturbed the atmosphere.

This new Netflix series is good and suspenseful but a classic crime series without any memorable and original style.

Very impressive and interesting movie about love, hate, past and the sexual life
3 October 2021
Movie 'The Power of the Dog' is about a rancher Phil Burbank (Benedict Cumberbatch), Rose Gordon (Kirsten Dunst), Peter Gordon (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and George Burbank (Jesse Plemons). One day George Burbank brings to the ranch his new wife Rose Gordon with her son Peter Gordon. After some time Peter Gordon explores his true sexual life.

The Power of the Dog is not a classical movie when you are one hundred percent sure, how you can write about this movie is because it is about almost everything. The Power of the Dog is a very impressive and interesting movie about love, hate, past and the sexual life, so it is very difficult to say what the movie is and how to describe more specifically what happened at the beginning.

Director of this movie is Jane Campion who is an oscar winner for best writing for the movie The Piano and one oscar nominee for best director for The Piano too. This movie is so impressive that I haven't found any problems with the director. On the contrary, I am so excited about the style of directing this movie, because it is so impressive that I have no words. She built a very good atmosphere which you will find later not at the beginning, because the atmosphere is built slowly here. Jane Campion did a very good job here, I think the best job in movies that are released in 2021 yet.

Screenplay was written by Jane Campion and here she did a very impressive job too. Sequences of the movie are written very well and I didn't find any problems here either. Screenplay slowly introduces to us the past of every main character, slowly it builds tension and the whole plot for this movie is done in a very clever and unpredictable way. Except that the screenplay will uncover the past, it shows directly or indirectly the dark side of every main character. This whole movie is unpredictable and you cannot say what will happen in the next five or ten minutes, because you can't guess it.

Casting director did a very good job here, because every actor fits the role. Kodi Smit-McPhee fits his role perfectly, because he looks like an urban man and a freak. The combination with his visage, the characteristics of a character and behaviour it is a perfect choice. Benedict Cumberbatch was chosen very well too as well as Kirsten Dunst or Jesse Plemons. Every actor did a very good job here with their performances, it looked and felt natural.

Camera was perfect and I have nothing to say against the director of photography. I like the style which was chosen for this movie. It looks good for the movie and the shots render well the reality of the 1925 ages.

Music here was very dominant and it fits well to this style of movie. I think the music was done very well because the melody and the songs were very good and memorable, for the style of the movie the style of songs fits very well.

Well, The Power of the Dog was after many months, the first very good movie published by Netflix. I have nothing to say against the movie because as I said many times, the movie is so impressive and done in a very professional way that there were not any mistakes from the director and writer.

Horrible cinema experience with bad VFX, screenplay and almost everything
2 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Six winners of previous escape rooms are catched again by Minos and they will play an escape game again.

This movie is directed by Adam Robitel - the director of the first movie, and written by four people Will Honley, Maria Melnik, Daniel Tuch and Oren Uziel.

At the beginning of the movie they recapitulated to us what happened in the previous movie in a strange way that doesn't look good. After that they will catch the six winners of the previous escape rooms to one subway car and then they will start playing an Escape Room: The Tournament of Champions. First escape room is executed quite cleverly because players need to find all false advertisements and then pull all necessary levers. The concept of all escape rooms is that all the rooms must be done cleverly, because otherwise any idiot would solve it and this Minos don't want to, but there are rooms that can solve any idiot. This hasn't been anywhere told, but by a simple logic this is true, because what organizer would like to create rooms that can solve anyone without a brain or without logical thinking.

Director of this movie is Adam Robitel who was director of the first movie Escape Room. As I said at the beginning they will show us what happened in the first movie. The idea to recapitulate what happened in the previous movie is a quite good idea, but they showed it to us in a strange way that doesn't look good. After that you can notice that some performances of actors are not done well, you can see from their mimics and by the loudness of voice in rage situations that they are acting and this doesn't look natural. For this movie I think that Adam Robitel didn't do a good job enough, because he wasn't able to force the actors to act naturally and to empathize with their roles.

Screenplay was written by already mentioned four writers Will Honley, Maria Melnik, Daniel Tuch and Oren Uziel. As I said before the first puzzle is quietly made good, but after the subway car it is worse and worse. I think that they have written characters with some logical thinking but during writing the script the writers have lost their logical thinking. In some puzzles the characters noticed something that is hard to notice and everything feels scripted. Almost nothing here doesn't feel natural and many of the things that were shown in this movie are not possible to create in the real world. Dialogues are written poorly and in some situations the dialogues were stupid. The screenplay for this movie is very, very bad.

In the main role was character Zoey Davis (Taylor Russell) who was in the first movie too and she wanted to go after Minos because of justice. Except the two characters Zoey Davis (Taylor Russell) and Ben Miller (Logan Miller) there are new four characters Nathan (Thomas Cocquerel), Rachel Ellis (Holland Roden), Brianna Collier (Indya Moore) and Theo (Carlito Olivero). All performances of actors are on a strong average and in some cases below average. If we omit the performances of actors, the actors are chosen wisely, except for Thomas Cocquerel because he doesn't look at the character as they described it.

The camera wasn't bad in this movie, but there are some problems too. In some cases the camera could be better - I mean better camera location, better angle or the camera could less move in some situations because it looks very strange and unprofessional.

The VFX in this movie is horrible, because it looks very cheap. It looks that most of the budget was spent on something else than VFX. It is very important for this type of movie and I don't understand why they made low budget VFX.

Movie wasn't good at all and I can't recommend it to you. Screenplay is very bad and the director as well. The whole movie feels that it is made by whole unprofessional people who are doing their first movie. This movie is a horrible cinema experience with bad VFX, screenplay and almost everything. It only deserves 4% for the first puzzle, if the first puzzle was horrible, the movie would get from me 0%.

The Courier (2020)
8/10
Very entertaining, educational and unique movie with a cold war theme
29 September 2021
Movie 'The Courier' is about a british businessman named Greville Wynne (Benedict Cumberbatch) who was recruited by two spies to be a middleman for their new source of information from Russia, Moscow. The story is set in the cold war.

At the beginning the movie nicely introduces us to the main characters and how spies get to the point that they need to recruit some businessman to be a courier for their new source of information. Movies about the cold war or about war are many on the market but this movie is different, this movie you will remember and you will have it in your brain forever. You will remember this movie and you will have it in your head forever because of his very good way of cinematography, which is chosen very well by a director of cinematography Sean Bobbitt and by director Dominic Cooke. Is sad that in this very good and very memorable movie, some discrepancies were found and they are related to the director not to the screenplay.

This movie took under himself already mentioned director Dominic Cooke who directed two movies 'The Courier' and 'On Chesil Beach' and three episodes of one TV mini series 'The Hollow Crown'. For the years when he started his career in 2012, he gained a lot of experience and now he had an opportunity to take the experience and put it into this movie and he succeeded, because of his great visuals. But there are two things that must be pointed out. First thing is that when they wanted to take a shot on a person's feelings or something like that, they chose a very aggressive focus which is not good for any use.

Screenplay was for this movie written by a writer named Tom O'Connor who has written a two movie series called The Hitman's Bodyguard. His career was started recently in 2012 and his second movie 'The Hitman's Bodyguard' was released in 2017 and for this short period he probably could not properly learn from his mistakes but in the script for this movie he showed the exact opposite. For the short period he perfectly learned from his mistakes and he delivered a very good and stunning movie. In this script I've didn't found any mistakes, only pros. Script for this movie is very well written and this makes the movie very entertaining and educational. Characters' thoughts are written very well too.

In the main role for this movie was fantastic actor Benedict Cumberbatch who was in the role of businessman Greville Wynne. Benedict Cumberbatch was perfect for this role and breathed life to this character - I'm not saying that the lines for the characters were badly written but you need to choose a good actor to play the character very well. Cumberbatch has done a perfect performance. Other actors have done the performances very well.

Camera was almost perfect but the feeling of misplacement was bad, but it was in a few scenes so this wasn't any big problem. By misplacement I mean that the camera could be placed ten or twenty centimeters away.

Movie is very well crafted - the director, actors, screenplay and camera were very good. Movie has very good visuals, performance of the actors. Screenplay hasn't any problems and this makes the movie a very entertaining, educational and unique movie with a cold war theme.

Nomadland (2020)
6/10
Pretty good movie
30 August 2021
Movie 'Nomadland' is written and directed by Chloé Zhao with an Hollywood actress Frances McDormand. This movie is based on the book by Jessica Bruder. Movie is about a woman named Fern (Frances McDormand) who becomes a nomad and she will start to travel and work in several companies. The movie guides us through the story of Fren and her past.

This movie got three Oscar awards.

Movie is unique for its theme of script. Script will slowly introduces us to the protagonist Fren, what she is doing, her past etc. Movie is in some scenes londer and lifeless. Script has a problem with introducing us to many characters and then you have a problem remembering the names of main characters, except for Fren. In some scenes the words are just said by some characters but the words do not have any life, any meaning. Ending of this movie could have been written better. Story and the rest of the screenplay is pretty good. Some shots are unnecessarily filmed and useless. This movie is about travel and about the life of the main character Fren, so you can't expect any elaborate scenario. Scenes are beautifully shot, so the director of photography Joshua James Richards did a very good job. Edit is very good except for one scene. Locations are very nice and interesting. There are good performances of actors too. Frances McDormand is very good in her role.

I recommend this movie, but don't expect something special.

Ferry (2021)
3/10
Forgettable movie with cliché and predictable story
28 August 2021
Movie 'Ferry' was written by Nico Moolenaar & Bart Uytdenhouwen and directed by Cecilia Verheyden. Writers of this movie are standing behind the Netflix Original Series Undercover. This movie starring Frank Lammers is about a man Ferry (Frank Lammers) who is working for the mafia from Amsterdam. One day two robbers attack a building in which people are packing drugs. That day one of the robbers killed the son of the mafia boss and Ferry (Frank Lammers) had to kill the robbers.

Movie is not interesting at all. The script is based on a cliché story about mafia and revenge, there is nothing special. The story is just a cliché story, there is nothing improved. In the movie you can only see the rather good performance of actors, that is all. The script is missing character development, and this is very important to create a good movie. The movie just tells us that in the mafia there is a boss with a son, Ferry and one other guy Rico and that is all we will never not find out why Ferry is in the mafia, how he got to the mafia etc. After seeing this movie you will forget the names of the characters and maybe 60% of the movie because it is not memorable. Except the actor in the main role there is not any significant actor for the role, it seems that they picked some actors without further thinking if this role is made for the actor. Camera was good, locations were good but these are only good things in this movie because this movie is not interesting at all.

Movie with bad screenplay
27 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Movie 'News of The World' is written by Paul Greengrass & Luke Davies and directed by Paul Greengrass with a Hollywood star in the main role Tom Hanks. This screenplay is based upon the novel by Paulette Jiles. This movie tells us a story about man Captain Kidd (Tom Hanks) who is traveling from city to city to read newspapers to busy people for ten cents. One day he sees an overturned and mugged waggon at which Captain Kidd finds a little girl who doesn't understand English and he will try to bring her home.

This movie was published by Netflix.

Movie will acquaint us with Captain Kid and a little girl slowly. Later the movie tells us what she likes, etc. Movie will show us it's screenplay deficiencies. Many of the logic errors are important for the story because if they do not make the logic error, the next parts of the story will be different. One of the many logic errors is that John Calley (Fred Hechinger) gave Captain Kidd a handgun Colt when they were in Texas. Give Colt in a country like this where around the corner it can save your life is stupidity to give any handgun. If the logic errors were not in the screenplay, the story would be better but the whole story collapses on these errors. The end was predictable and unnecessarily long. Movie on things like editing and VFX collapses too, it collapses more than the story with logic errors. When the movie was in the early evening they created an unrealistic blue filter to "look" as early evening. VFX looks like you will hire an amateur and he will make it in one month. It looks horrible.

Acting, locations, camera, music and costume design looks perfect but this is only good in this movie.

This movie was a disappointment.

The Night House is a true horror experience that scares you
25 August 2021
Movie 'The Night House' was written by Ben Collins & Luke Piotrowski and directed by David Bruckner with an actress and executive producer in the main role Rebecca Hall. This is a beautiful and good movie about nothing and about a woman called Beth (Rebecca Hall), who is dealing with the death of her husband Owen (Evan Jonigkeit), who shot himself with a handgun on a boat in the middle of a lake, which they have under their house.

At the beginning the movie introduces us to his story in which we will meet closer with the main protagonist Beth. Movie will take us slowly but intensively through the plot, which is fantastic and very original. This horror movie has very colorful color grading, and that is unseen for the horror genre, because many horrors have dark and sometimes weird color grading. The color grading makes the movie more lively and interesting. Most horror movies have one big problem. The big problem is the high amount of jumpscares when someone will from out of nowhere run to the main character with a random loud sound. This movie does not have this problem with jumpscares and that is much appreciated. Director and writers delivered a horror movie with a small amount of jumpscares and with a dense horror atmosphere. Writers delivered in a very good way very good character development. Actors have a very good performance in their roles. Except for one scene, the camera was perfect and unforgettable.

Horror movies must be a good cinema experience, and this movie has succeeded. This movie is a true indescribable horror experience that scares you.

Good story but bad execution
25 August 2021
Documentary movie 'Shiny_Flakes: The Teenage Drug Lord' was directed by Eva Müller and Michael Schmitt. This 1 hour and 35 minutes long documentary movie is about a teenage boy (Maximiliam Schimdt) who wanted to create a Silk Road competitor on a surface web in his childhood bedroom.

This movie was interesting because this, created in a teen age certainly required a high IQ or very good managing skills. This movie showed us terrible things about his mother and that she wasn't interested in Maximilian because she didn't know that he was running a drug business from his room.

This movie was interesting but a few scenes weren't executed well. During the movie you will see that sometimes they skipped time when it wasn't very necessary, some scenes were not executed well, edit was sometimes too fast that if you didn't know what he is doing at the moment, you will not probably able to read it because it will disappear very fast and the ending could be shorter.

Story of this movie was interesting but the execution in some scenes was not mastered.

Very good movie about witches
24 August 2021
Movie debut from a director and writer Robert Eggers with the name 'The Vvitch: A New-England Folktale' with an actress in the main role Anya Taylor-Joy was a very good movie. This movie is about a pious family that left the colony and settled near the forest. One day the little brother of Thomasin (Anya Taylor-Joy) called Sam disappeared and they blame the wolves for kidnapping him. Over time strange things start to happen.

This movie is inspired by period writings from the court or newspaper and most of the dialogues are from these writings.

This movie is a very good indie drama and horror with a witch theme. You won't find another indie movie with this theme that would be on the same level. The performance of the actors was overwhelming. The whole course of the screenplay is very good and detailed written. Movie can engulf you to the action that you will be worried about. In this movie you will not find any horror cliché, this makes the movie unique. Horror atmosphere was very good and very rigorously built. Costumes were very authentic. Disgusting scenes were very well created. This is not a classic horror movie which bets on jumpscares, this movie bets on atmosphere and intense situations.

Movie 'The Vvitch: A New-England Folktale' is a very good horror movie which will scare you. Director and writer 'Robert Eggers' did a very good job here and for the first movie, it is unique.

CODA (2021)
8/10
Such a unique and good movie
23 August 2021
Movie CODA was written and directed by Sian Heder with an actress in the main role Emilia Jones. This movie was based on the movie La Famille Bélier directed by Éric Lartigau and written by Stanislas Carré de Malberg and Éric Lartigau. This movie is about a girl called Ruby Rossi who has a talent for singing and she is the only hearing person in her deaf family. In her family are dad, mother and brother. All her family except her are fishermen and this is only their source of money. During the movie she needs to decide if she will go to the school in Boston called Berkley or if she will stay fishing with her family in her hometown.

This movie cannot be described as anything other than a fantastic romantic drama movie which is in some situations funny, emotional and it arouses emotions in you too. Actors who have learned sign language were amazing and it looks like they have experience with that. Actors were wisely chosen and the roles were written for them. If I pass a few scenes where I think could have been better camera placement I think that the director of photography Paula Huidobro did as alway a very good job. I'm surprised that this movie does not have a romance genre because the romantic part was made very well. Even if you think that the movie is predictable, it pleasantly misleads you. The music is so perfect that I think better music for this movie could not be.

This movie was very remarkable and unique in its style as well as the story. Conclusively I recommend this movie and I think that we will not see such a very good musical, romance and drama movie in one for a long time.
