Tugboat Mickey (1940)
Nice and Funny Short
This short film was nice to watch and I think possibly watched this at Grandma's apartment on an old TV, I remembered watching the scenes with Goofy and Donald Duck on it. I could barely remember watching it on Grandma's old TV.
Anyways, The story is decent because the radio that Mickey heard was just an radio show and somehow tricked Mickey, Goofy and Donald into thinking that's the ship is really sinking. The animation is quite detailed and I would say the animation had an very good direction.
The art in this detailed as well, but also very nice.
The voice acting is fine, Danny Webb voiced Goofy in this short instead of Pinto because he was possibly at MGM cartoons at the time voicing some characters in Tex Avery shorts.
Danny sounded a bit different from Pinto, it sounded okay nonetheless, I saw some similarities of the short, and it reminds that of Boat Builders because of the boat being a bit similar, The Whalers because of the somewhat similar concept and Clock Cleaners in which Donald fought and talks back to the machine and yet throwing a tantrum at it and Pelican is somehow similar to the sleepy stork and Mickey telling it to leave.
The humor is at it's finest.
Overall, It's an great short film with an great deal of details, good color palettes the same thing with the art and an great animation direction.
10/10.
Astro Boy (1963)
Bad Japanese animation but may not be the best
I know of you liked the animated series from Japan, but let me tell you what's wrong with this series:
First things first, it has to be the animation, before I get into it, let me tell you about the 12 principles of animation, you know that, all animated shorts, film and television series use the 12 principles of animation, all of them have full animation and make the animation fluid, natural and very believable, this series however doesn't, due to cutting cost and everything, the animation has very poor quality, even for television standards, If clutch cargo was bad enough, then this animation is even bad, I mean, animation is just messed up, the movements aren't smooth, it's really choppy, it's very jerky and the frames stay still instead having actual fluid animation whatsoever, the animators behind this series just miss every frame their animating and it's like did it with their eyes closed. top of all, they didn't even bother do the in-betweens or any key poses in which resulting to very jerky and choppy animation, it only has little of actual animation, but it STILL has very jerky and choppy animation, and thus they didn't even animate on twos or threes to due to having little to no actual animation, all on all the animation of this show has very jerky and choppy movements the animators miss a frame and not the in-betweens, the dialogue in the show is laughable, I mean they just talk so fast , sometimes they just talk over the characters and they didn't bother to slow down, but they do slow down, the lip sync is bad, in scenes the character doesn't move their mouth when talking and the character's mouths move so oddly when they're talking, at least the art style is okay and the backgrounds are nice, the characters in this are okay but they just get one-dimensional, at least in the 1980 and 2003 version had more character, but in this they don't act in character, there are scenes they go so fast , they not even time properly, that goes for the fight scenes in which they just still pictures with out any actual animation, some of the animation goes like loop like usual and sometimes the cels get reused in some episodes, Don't get me wrong, I mean there's nothing controversial in the show, but just the animation and the aspects of the series, I know this isn't Disney but the animation may not be the best. I like the 1980 and 2003 versions because they have actual animation, anime has been improved through the years, the animation got fuller and better and start animating on threes, I've seen decently made animated TV series from The US Europe, Hanna-Barbera shows from the 60's and 70's (because the animation is better), Commercials, TV specials and everything that are better than this, It's an okay series, but the animation is unintentionally bad but funny to watch.
Macaco Feio... Macaco Bonito (1929)
The Oldest animation from Brazil.
This is the oldest animation I've seen in Brazil, The cartoon is an about an clever monkey as he escapes, when he's just strolling around you can found some easter eggs of well-known cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse, Felix The Cat and Popeye . Felix The Cat and Mickey Mouse were beginning to be widespread all over the world including Popeye, as an young man appears, he gives the monkey an treat and walk away, yeah that's only the clip I saw on YouTube. but I give it an 8/10 since it's the earliest cartoon in Brazil and the first one to give out the pop culture references. unlike that old Japanese cartoon from the 1930's portraying Mickey Mouse and Felix The Cat as villains. Well that's it for this review as animation in Brazil is getting very good nowadays and having animated adaptations of the Monica's Gang series, This is My review of This film from 1929 in which it translates to ''Ugly Monkey , Beautiful Monkey'' and I might review Amazon symphony soon, so that's all for today, this is Amber signing off, peace out and Good luck!
