Surprising little film
7 December 2020
I started watching this just for a cheesy horror movie to pass some time. I was pleasantly surprised that it was more endearing and funny instead. The horror movie part is used as a setting and to move the plot along, but most of the focus is on the characters. For what seems to be a small more independent movie, the production quality was also much better than what I normally expect. The actor that plays Kurt made me feel like they figured out how to actually go back to the 80's and get a young Jack Black to join. If you're a fan of campy 80's slasher movies and enjoy films that can poke fun at the genre, you might get a kick out of this movie. If you are looking for a straight up horror, you won't enjoy it as much.

A fun little mystery wrapped in a mix of paranormal and sci-fi
1 November 2020
This Halloween I had the urge for comedy horror and was thinking of watching Shaun of the Dead again. This show was perfect timing. It combined a good mystery with the paranormal, merged with modern technology. Of course, with a good bit of British humour added in to the mix. Simon Pegg was almost completely unrecognizable in this show. Not only does he look a little different, but his acting was completely unique to this character. Many of his older characters seem the same, both in personality and tone, but this one was completely different in style.

Used to be a good show
19 January 2015
We used to love this show. The reenactments added to the story and made for a spooky experience. Just closing your eyes and listening to the story without the hints given in the reenactments made for a much more tame story, so we learned to have fun with the dramatization. Lately though it seems more like watching videos from a Christian Youth Camp. Instead of ghosts there are demons everywhere and a constant feeling of being preached at rather than spooked. If you play with Ouija boards at a sleep over, your children will be haunted. If you look at or touch this or that, you're cursed. There are less paranormal investigations and families working together and many more clergymen.

Hopefully they will go back to the old paranormal show that they were before. Otherwise this family will give up and move on to something with more interest and less religion pushing.
