The Beach
25 October 2007
Episode 5 of the Avatar: The Last Airbender, series 3 Book of Fire. Shows the 4 antagonists (Ty Lee, Mai, Azula, Zuko), on a forced holiday to a beach island called Ember Island. Where this episode shines is that it gives the audience the an understanding of who and what the antagonists are. Where the series has focuses on the protagonists, it gives the audience depth to the antagonist's' characters. What has made the characters the way they are. It seems slightly slow at first, the protagonists run into a hit-man from hell which can blow things up with his mind (better than it sounds). Not the best episode in my opinion, but the touching and insightful scene at the end gives it a 7 out of 10.

An Enjoyable Movie
2 September 2007
I know what you're thinking "oh snakes on a plane, what an awful name it's going to be rubbish". Admittedly I thought the same thing but I was pleasantly surprised.

The story is simple, but it works for the type of film it is. A young man is witnesses the murder committed by a notorious drug boss. He escapes the clutches of the boss; and must take a plane to testify against the boss. Asps, boas and every evil snake you can think of is put on his flight Flynn (Jackson) must save the day or plane.

Pretty simple but enjoyable. Don't rent/buy this movie expecting "The Usual Suspects" or "The Bourne Ultimatum". Instead rent/buy it expecting a fun movie. It is guaranteed to have you going "ooo" or "aaa" as you see the unfortunate victims of the snakes. I would recommend it for a lazy Saturday night in, with friends or family (although if you have siblings under 13 it may frighten them).

IN SHORT: An entertaining ride. Though it is not Jackson's bets film, it is entertaining. When he says the infamous line "I've had it with these mother****in' snakes! On this mother****in' plane!" You will laugh or at least smile. It will provide you laughs as you see those around you jump back in surprise as a snake appears out of nowhere.

Madagascar (2005)

A boring ass film
12 August 2007
I found this film brain-numbingly boring. Though the film has a formidable voice-cast (Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer) but it is really dull. The story consists of 4 animals Alex the Lion (Stiller), Mary the Zebra (Rock), Melman the Giraffe (Schwimmer) and Grace the Hippo (Jada Pinkett-Smith), who have a comfortable life in New York but find themselves shipped of to Madagascar. Now looking at the voice cast it seems like a funny film, and don't get me wrong there are some funny moments but they are barely memorable. You know just one-liners about animal antics really. I don't know whether it's just me but I had to force myself to watch the film with my sister who found it dull as well. In fact she had similar thoughts on how the characters were designed, and how ugly they looked. For me this is a great disappointment from Dreamworks Animation, I mean Shrek, Shark Tale, Flushed Away are funny and at the least decent. The jokes I felt were not satisfactory for a cast like that, and the studios who made this film. The jokes were meaningless one-liners, the character models were ugly (thugh the animation is good i cannot take that away from them). Hopefully the second one will prove more successful.

Afro Samurai (2007)

So much potential, but was sold short
1 March 2007
i have to say i didn't enjoy this at all. The best thing was the animation it was slick and sharp (though Afro looks 30 when he's supposed to be in his teens)and is why i gave it a 6.

The story is basically his father is killed by a man called "Justice", this leads him on a journey of vengeance. Yes quite a cliché story, but i had hope, i honestly thought it was going to be like a better "Samurai Jack" marvelous in its simplicity. NO WRONG!! This series is just violent, not in a good way just violent. People being dismembered, blood everywhere but no real entertainment. Every episode is him confronting someone and killing them in a gruesome way, there are no major twists in this series only a blatantly obvious one which you will be able to guess when you see it.

The character of Ninja Ninja (Afro's sidekick) has been classed as annoying i personally found him refreshing it was change to a flash of blood. I didn't see the point of Samuel Jackson, his character hardly talks at all waste of money.

If bloody violence makes your day then go ahead, but if your expecting a classy futuristic, thriller with style this isn't what it is. Instead a graphic, animated bloodfest.

Twitches (2005 TV Movie)
4/10
a typical film
30 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Twitches is another sad cheesy film. The plot I found was stale and feeble. The basic plot without giving anything away is two girls reunite on their 21st birthday after being adopted by two different families blah, blah they unite to fight the evil called the 'Darkness'. I won't tell you what the Darkness in fear of spoiling but if your over 15 you may smirk at what you see. The film is really, really predictable 20minutes in the film and you'll already have the story summed up. With the cheesy joke here and the failed drama there it is eventually twitches. This film is really for young girls, I saw it at my 12 year old cousins' house they liked it and I was appalled. Boo Twitches, Boo Twitches
