The Witcher (2019)
Not worth renewing a subscription for
It's been all downhill after the first season. It didn't get better this season. The editing in this season is at a all time low.
This is so poorly put together you wonder if you somehow fell asleep and missed something. There were several times a scene takes place and you don't know if it's a dream or real. Then you find out it's real and wonder what the hell is going on and how the charters even got there.
Then there are scenes where the charters were working toward a goal, they reach said goal but don't follow through. It would be like going to the grocery store just to buy milk. You go to the store, walk up to the milk, look at the milk then turn around and go home. It makes no sense.
The cast is good. Well, Ciri and Geralt are good. The rest are just doing the best they can with the hand they were given.
I didn't like what they did with Jaskier. He looked like crap and his charter seemed awkwardly weird. He was a fun likable charter and now he's like a back ally creeper.
The scene with Jaskier and Ciri is so far the best in the season.
This season was not worth renewing a subscription for. I don't think part two will be any better.
Beef (2023)
Like watching a train wreck
Finally Netflix is making something worth watching. I had just about given up on them.
This is not a feel good series. It's about two driven, morally bankrupt, people making one bad decision after another. Just when you think things are slowing down and leveling out it all falls apart again. Its a sad exaggerated reflection of life's ups and downs . Poor choices followed by more poor choices.
Its like watching a train wreck, I couldn't stop watching it. I was holding out for a happy ending that refused to be.
The cast is amazing. Not that I would watch it but I am sure there will be some well earned awards given.
Glass Onion (2022)
A fun mystery movie
A fun mystery movie with a dash of comedy. Defiantly one of the better movies that's come out this year. A must see if you liked Knives Out. It doesn't have the as much excitement as the first movie Knives Out but still a very good movie. Daniel Craig plays his part well. He really hams it up as Blanc, and Monae is absolutely fantastic in her rolls. There is a little spool up time but it's hardly noticeable. There are plenty of twists and turns that keep the movie ticking along at a good pace. The casting was well done, and everyone fits. A good follow up to Knives Out. Hopefully there will be more to follow.
The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)
It deserves a lower rating
I had rather low expectations about the series, but it surprised me by being so much worse than I could have ever imagined. Without a doubt one of Netflix's worse series ever. Bad acting, terrible dialogue, rushed story that makes absolutely no sense. Total disregard for the Witcher lore. Easily one of the worst things I've ever watched. A grade schooler could have done a better job. Netflix should take this down and apologize for even producing this. My only regret is not listening to the bad reviews. I should have skipping this. If I could have given a lower rating I would have. It doesn't deserve a single star.
Prey (2022)
unbelievable
In the land of make-believe its unbelievable. This is the least entertaining, and most ridiculous of the Predator movies. The main charter has a chip on her shoulder that makes her unlikeable. She goes from entitled Instagram model to an axe-wielding master ninja in just hours. Another of many things that bothered me about this movie was how she instantly understands the technical aspects of alien weaponry enough to use it against the Predator. Really? The story makes no sense. The Predators have always gone after the most dangerous threats, but for some unknown reason, this Predator seems out to get her.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Total waste
This was so disappointing. Just skip this one. Even if you ignore the source and watch it as a standalone show this is bad. Galadriel has a major chip on her shoulder. A selfish attitude that immediately makes her unlikable from the very first episode. No one has seen as much, suffered more or sacrificed as much as she has, bla bla bla. And for such a supposed big budget you would think the effects would be better. What is up with the ears? The elven ears looked like a plastic slip-on. They were the worst. I have seen more realistic-looking ears on cosplayers. I have to admit Arender must have an exclusive deal with the only hair stylist in Middle-earth because that fade was on point.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022)
Its good
The storyline is actually good. I expected a real stinker considering where its coming from, but they actually did a good job on this one. The anime is colorful and in a style that make me think of the old anime Cowboy Bebop. They really tried to capture the Night City, and took a lot of Qs from the Cyberpunk 2077 game, and ran with it. The apartments, slums, dialog, everything screams Cyberpunk 2077 and its awesome. If you liked the game
Cyberpunk 2077 then this is totally up your alley. Its defiantly one of there better anime and worth a watch. This is so much better than some of the more expensive TV offerings curranty available.
Prey (2021)
Boring
There's no new ground here, a bachelor party turns into a slaughter fest, as two brothers, and three friends venture into the wilderness.
I really do like atmosphere and tension as a rule, but this takes it too far, and apart from a few nice scenes, it drags on way too slowly.
The characters are all clichés, we have the family link, the quiet and scared one, the gay one, the cute one, and of course the angry one.
I watched it with friends, and they enjoyed it, I'm afraid I yawned through most of it, just too slow, the major plus point has to be the visuals, it does look very nice, but to reach the end, it's a slog. Worst of all is the embarrassing ending.
Once again I find myself struggling to find a good film on Netflix.
House of the Dragon (2022)
No Surprise. Its Good
I liked GOT with the exception of the ending. So it wasn't a surprise I would like House of the Dragon. Its defiantly off to a good start. It has the same feel as the early episodes of GOT. The cinematics look good and the charters are interesting. The music is annoyingly similar to GOT. Some might like it but something more original would have been nice, but I am just being nitpicky. The story is interesting if somewhat predictable. Not surprising since it just started. I expect it will get less so as the story progresses. There is plenty of action and brutal violence. Hopefully they can keep it up. There are few new Tv shows out that aren't shoving some message down your throat when all you want to do is disconnect for a bit. Good job.
Atomic Blonde (2017)
Good Spy Movie
Not your average blonde. Charlize Theron really looks good in this movie. A fun spy movie with lots of action from beginning to end. Fight scenes, car chases, everything was well done. The main story is a little weak but there is enough action and twists that you may not even notice. Great soundtrack that really takes you back if you were around at the time. This one you can watch over and over.
