Dragons: The Nine Realms (2021)
An honest review, after watching all from S1-S5.
To start off, yes I know the show is maybe not as good as the original we all loved. But it's still good. The characters are interesting just like in the original show.
A lot of people watched the first season, thinking it was going to be exact or even better than the original dragons show, and then they were let down. What were you all thinking? This was meant for a younger audience, it was meant to show dragons and the riders in a different light, and a very different story arc. The show is about modern people, with modern problems. Not vikings.
Most of the bad reviews here are from when the show was on season one, which to be honest wasn't the best season they've had. But with every season it has gone better. The characters and their story became interesting, there was more about the dragon lore, and how Tom is connected to the dragons.
It is interesting to follow how the writers wanted the audience to see Tom's connection to the dragons, and to hear more about his family. We still have a lot to uncover about Tom and his family's past, but I can already tell it's a very interesting story. The other main characters also seem to have more story in the show. We get to see Eugene evolve, slowly but surely into a better person because of the dragons and other riders.
The fact that in the end of season 5, the riders actually have to show their dragons to their parents, because they need to save them from trouble, shows character development. It's interesting to see how Tom's mother was the first to know, and the riders actually showed her how it is to be a dragon rider, and what they actually do. The fact that they show parent-son trust in this, is pure amazing. Showing the kids watching this that, "it's alright, you can tell your mom anything and she will understand and help you."
So in the end, the show is going better now. And in my opinion it doesn't deserve the ratings it has, since the show is so far from what it was in the first season. So don't judge the movie by its cover or by all of these ratings here. Watch it yourself, and then decide, was it worth it?
