Just Go with It (2011)
Was the movie made on 'opposite day'?
Just awful. Sandler is not even trying to act. The rest of the actors are are slighted with such a bad chemistry that it is painful to watch. The pacing, cutting, acting ... you name it is all bad.
The plot couldn't be more further from reality or from values that would help us like these characters. Let's see: here is a plastic surgeon (sandler) who spent the last 20 years lying to women that he was married so that he could get them to bed.
His assistant doesn't see anything wrong with that. To the contrary, she will allow her kids to be bribed and exploited so that this plastic surgeon can take his lies even further. Hey his assistant even agrees to pose as his wife in this scam.
In addition his friend finds out about a trip to Hawaii so he dresses up like some funny accent yahoo and assume a role of his wife's boyfriend in order to hitch a ride to hawaii (all expenses paid by Sandler) In the meantime the woman that Sandler wants to convince that he is not a liar seems to be completely gullible (dumb) and doesn't have any suspicion about this.
It just so happens that (surprise!) the assistant falls in love with Sandler and doesn't really care about him being a liar, womanizer ... whatever else. Basically every character is so thin and so removed from reality ...
actually let me correct myself ... they are all very real characters to someone who personifies the negative Hollywood image. Someone who has no clue about real life, real people... someone who doesn't get that everything in these characters is flawed and therefore it will be unreasonable for them to be likable.
It is all about the world of 14,000 per night suites, eating out and lying every step of the way. Add to this a complete lack of chemistry between the characters and you have a movie that I do not want to ever see again.

Why on earth do you need a German accent?
First let me address some of the previous posters? Why on earth do you need to have a German accent? I have lived in many countries and I have never seen a movie dubbed with a phony accent or I have never seen a German movie about America with phony American accent in German. Let's establish the fact that the movie is not done in German. Done. Not German. If it is done in English then it should be English and not some Hogan's Heroes nonsense.
Now to the movie. Yes, perhaps the character development wasn't exhausting but I thought that overall the costumes, the pacing of the movie and the music were well done. The audience, including me, was captivated.
I enjoyed the story very much. My son wanted to see it and I resisted at first thinking I've seen enough on World War II but I have learned new thing by watching.
I recommend this movie.

Bad pacing, dumb, occasionally funny movie
Oh boy. I'm getting tired of these movies. The acting is horrid, the pacing of the story and the flow from scene to scene is amateurish, the characters are dumb and the ideas are condescendingly dumb. A bunch of writers are trying to write a stoner movie really exposing the fact that they don't even know the stoner culture enough to make a comedy that works.
Instead they present a view that really panders to the teenage crowd who might think they are getting a slice the taboo culture. The viewers are getting shafted. This is an increasing standard in Movies/TV for creating a low budget product and collecting top dollar for it.
There are some funny moments in the movie. It's not a bad Midnight Oil flick on TV but you'll have to wait to see it after all the reality shows finish airing.
El laberinto del fauno (2006)
spellbinding story and cinematography
I came to the theatre not knowing anything about this movie. I had no idea it was a Spanish flick. I expected some sort of Hollywood fantasy and hoped for somewhat decent plot.
Instead I saw a great movie. The movie wpuld have probably stood on its own had no magic been intertwined but it is more interesting as it was. Two stories. One real and one magical.
I think the real story could have been a little less graphic in its depiction of violence. I'm getting really tired with directors going over the line to portray cruelty. We get it OK? We can go on the internet and get as much cruelty from the real life as we can stomach.
But the camera-work, the framing, acting, lighting, music, plot - all wonderful.

Maine, the way it could be.
Good movie. Low budget. Very realistic character development. Maine is depicted the way it is in many fishing communities. Good camera work, lots of non actors in the film. I especially enjoyed the take of the couple in the kitchen and their daughter sleeping on the couch. Wonderful light and mood setting in that clip. On the other side, I think that the cameraman could have been more patient with filming and wait for some morning fog rolling over the boat. It would depict Maine atmosphere better. The sound work in the movie could probably use a little improvement but none of these complains detract from the movie. I would recommend you seeing it if you are looking for non-Hollywood movie without any fluff.
I enjoyed it very much.
Flyboys (2006)
Pretty good
I expected worse. I expected some over-hyped action, computer animated candy ass lollipop movie.
Instead I found the pacing to be pretty good. The dialog was OK. The camera work was pretty good. The story was pretty good. The acting as OK. I ended up enjoying the story and visuals of the WW1.
Don't expect a miracle but it wasn't a waste of money.
Some things I did not like were script decisions to having a lion as a pet - that was kind of corny.
I enjoyed the relationship development between the pilot and the French woman. I loved the low light camera on a lot of takes. Very pleasant.
