Léa (2017)
The culmination of all horror fans' dreams
If you're a fan of The Creepshow, Tales from the Crypt, or would like an adult Are You Afraid of the Dark, you've hit the jackpot. Grisly, ghostly fun with beloved practical effects make this flick a worthy addition to any horror collection. We will all undoubtedly be seeing Jay Palmieri in the credits of Netflix seasonal specials. And that's to say the least.
Taste (2016)
Gripping and bone-chilling. A real up-and-comer!
I was pleasantly surprised by this short film. Everything including the casting, acting, music, cinematography, lighting, and writing, pertains to an eerie tone reminiscent of classic French thrillers. Short films are notoriously difficult to convey fully fleshed out stories and create emotional investment in their audiences, but this film grabbed me and didn't let go until days afterward. The writer/director responsible is sure to be the new Jordan Peele with his eclectic skill for storytelling and such a touching love letter to the genre.
