Napoleon (2023)
Not what I was expecting....
(Theatrical Release) To be honest, I don't know much about Napoleon Bonaparte but this movie was very interesting. I was never overwhelmed with information and the quick pacing was not too fast to keep up with. Overall the story was not quite what I was expecting and I kinda wish it was more thorough.
SPOILERS:
Ok, so Napoleons past was not covered at all and I really don't like that. Especially with the "He came from nothing. Conquered everything" tagline that the movie tries to sell. His two exiles were short and barely touched upon, his journey through the ranks of the military were too quick in my opinion and there were no breaks to display what he was conquering and what the people really thought of him. There was one small example when he was walking to his cart where the people cheered for him but other than that not much. I liked his return from the first exile but they didn't even show him taking back France?!? The movie went on very quickly and Josephine's storyline was played very well, they portrayed their love awesomely however they needed more time. I never really felt what Napoleon was feeling but I understood his anger and rage. It was good for a movie biopic but not something I would recommend to those who want to feel like they are Napoleon and know his history.
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
Most quotable movie ever...
Easily one of the greatest movies to rewatch a few hundred times. I've probably seen this movie 20-30 times in my life and each time it gets better and better.
One of my favorite things about O Brother Where Art Thou is how quotable it is. From "My hair" to the funny scene with the color-guard. The music is also special as it never gets old and has a very good beat to it.
Once you see this movie for the first time, you'll instantly fall in love with each character and their quirky perspective on life. No matter how many times I see it I will always be incredibly biased and laugh at each turn.
Loosely based on the Odyssey by Homer.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)
I mean like
It was aight, they could have made a few changes to the writing and a couple of characters and dragged out the dramatic scenes and made the score a little longer and probably had a few more epic shots throughout the movie but.....
I did find myself smiling and feeling pretty nostalgic as well as having a few good laughs.
The movie may not amaze you with beautiful views of a gorgeous South American landscape but it does have some enthralling moments where you may feel like it's taking you along for the ride.
Michael Bay's transformers movies had a lot more action and a little less story than this one. So if you're a fan of the OG transformers looks and like a heartwarming feel-good action movie this is one for you.
