Pushpa: The Rise - Part 1 (2021)
Unpopular opinion.. exaggerated ego problems!!
The concept is nice to begin with and then the movie drifts off to exaggerated ego problems amongst the different males of the movie. Everything about this movie is extra. 3 hours is a long time for just seeing boys taking revenge for useless ego issues. Songs are good but again oo antava song is overrated, nothing special. Would have loved a little realistic approach in the film and it would do wonders for me.
Indian Matchmaking (2020)
Indian mentality is beyond 'Seema aunty'!!
I agree that indian arranged marriage system still follows some typical guidelines about color, caste, creed and kundali...wow did that just rhyme?? but it is not the ONLY representation of this whole system. How Seema aunty convinces us that girls need to 'compromise', guess what, i have seen guys change places or lifestyles to match that to the girl's. Not everyone goes on looks and kundalis, but people now care about personalities and respect each other's differences as well. This show generalizes this whole arranged marriage system and is projected as a male dominating, traditionally prevalent and women compromising system and projects a wrong picture about Indian culture in front of the whole world.
A Suitable Girl (2017)
Why do they always show India as 'gareeb, traditional culture'?
India has so much of diversity with different strata of people. However, the shows that i have come across show camels walking on the streets?? How frequently does that happen?? This show highlights the Seema aunty mentality once again!! I am myself in the process of matchmaking as the directors put it, but never came across this 'kundali', 'allowed to work', 'stop the job and be a housewife' kind of hype that these shows show. Which mother has asked her daughter to stop working and focus on saying yes to a guy? Please guys, india is beyond the 'gareeb hindustani' vibe now, please show our IT hubs, educated women, working people, wonderful architecture and expensive cars rather than camels, poor people with flowing noses and old shattered buildings, thats not the ONLY presentation of India!!!!!
