Ted Lasso: The Diamond Dogs (2020)
Season 1, Episode 8
10/10
Dart scene = all time great TV scene
5 April 2023
The Dart Scene is one of my favorite scenes in any television episode ever -- the setup with smug Rupert, the "oh snap!" twist when Ted switches from right to (natural) left hand, the monologue Ted delivers about being underestimated his whole life (which speaks so much about his character's past and present), the subtle stunned/guilty look Rebecca wears when Ted mentions playing darts "every Sunday with my Dad from age 10 until he passed away when I was 16" and the viewer realizes she didn't know that information (and she realizes how self-absorbed and awful she is)... just pure TV perfection.

American Horror Stories: Milkmaids (2022)
Season 2, Episode 4
1/10
The worst episode of television in the history of human civilization.
15 October 2022
The title says it all, consistent with the countless other 1* reviews that provide an adequate synopsis.

There is not one single "horror" element to this episode. Producing the most abhorrent "gross out" moments imaginable does not count as horror.

The half-baked allegory and writing were mind-numbingly awful. All that was missing from the priest character was a Dr. Evil-esque cackle mid-sermon, perhaps alongside a mustache to twirl.

As a physician well-versed in the history of vaccine science (and naturally a huge proponent of vaccination), I picked up on the milkmaid-cowpox-as-protection-against-smallpox connection immediately, and found it interesting for about 7 seconds. But that was ruined once it was made clear that the world never needed brilliant scientists like Dr. Edward Jenner to develop the first ever vaccine when apparently there were poor, uneducated milkmaids present who possessed the scientific understanding of 21st century physicians.

The writer and other main creative forces behind this episode should be banned from the television industry.
