Feluda Pherot (2020)
Thank you Mr. Mukherjee
To tell the truth, i was a bit skeptical regarding this version of Feluda. Like many other 'Bangalis' I was disheartened time and again by the 'feluda attempts' done by the directors other than the great Ray. But Srijit shocked me this time. If someone had asked me how will you like to see your favorite most hero on silver screen, then that would be exactly like Srijit's one.
'am no film director. But since childhood i had my fare share of fantasies regarding this trio ( sometimes duo), how they will look, how they will walk, how they will talk etc. Satyajit Ray's illustrations guided me in this fantasy imagination. And boy! Srijit somehow has made this impossible quite possible. Some of the frames are straight from the book illustrations.
Acting was good. Script good. Camera good. All the other things are good. But in case of background score, there is still chance of improvement. Sometimes it felt unnecessarily loud on ears.
Last and the most important thing, is the approch to the great Jatayu. Well, someone are finding Mr Anirban is not up to the expectations. But for me this is Srijit's masterstroke. He rebuilt the jatayu for us. He consciously avoided to make jatayu act like his predecessors. He consciously avoided to make his jatayu to be compared with Mr. Santosh Dutta's legacy. And that, made the film so fun to watch.
Thank you Srijit. Thank you.
Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020)
Do Watch it, don't go by the overall rating
For a society run mostly by the terms of emotions , there is a newly favourite term going on, or should I say "selling on" fiercely. And the term is 'Nepotism'. No need to say why and how this term has become the mostly talked about subject these days, but what we should think carefully before using this term, what is the meaning of 'Nepotism'.
So, what Nepotism really is? By the definition that dictionary gives us, Nepotism means
" the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs." But really, is that it? Is it what really nepotism means? NO. There is a small catch. Nepotism basically means -- the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs WHO DOES NOT DESERVE THAT OPPORTUNITY IN TERMS OF THEIR TALENT.
Said that, now we should come to point. This film ' Gunjan Ascena : The Kartik Girl ' is getting so so much bad ratings from the general audiences initially. There are so much talking about how Janhavi kapoor is a fine example of nepotism, as her parents are bollywood giants and we should boycott this film and all the other films which give chances to the actors with a Pedigree. The point which we are forgetting is again the word ' talent'. Rather than judging who is who, we should focus on one point only--- Does this person deserves this opportunity? Or not?
Try to keep this mind before judging any creation , be it film or music or any other thing. Try to watch this film ' Gunjana saxena' with a mind of a curious ' movie watcher'. And you will find that this really is a fantastic film with some beautiful performance by Pankaj Tripathi and Jhanavi kapoor. Outstanding background score, a bit dramatic but good script. And overall a bit dramatic film with a positive note.
I will request every one to watch this movie, rather than going by the sheer rating the IMDB is showing. 'cause the rating is basically a result of that recent 'anti nepotism' trend.
