To End All Wars (2001)
Eh not great at all. Torture to watch.
Yeah this one is not a winner. I just wanted the narrator to shut the hell up. Kinda skipped through the last hour of this movie because it was torture to watch. It was just a dumb movie and sappy. Everyone is crying for half the movie it seems. It basically just focuses on life in the camp and life in the camp was just so friggin stupid. It almost seemed like these prisoners enjoyed their stay. The music was just sappy as well. Not really any character development. Just prisoners arguing about dumb stuff and calling the captors names and then being punished, over and over and over. That's it. The acting was just lame and soulless. I wish I never watched this dumb movie.
Blue Beetle (2023)
Please stop giving George Lopez work!!! lol
The Blue Beetle was the only decent character in this film and the suit was awesome. The rest of the family has a made for TV vibe. I couldn't have cared less if they all were wiped out. It seems like the creators were looking to get a lot of laughs but It all fell flat. It makes me wonder how much influence Lopez had with the comedic side of the movie because that joke stealing hack never was and never will be funny and this movie never was and never will be funny. The family vibe felt forced. The most adrenaline filled song in the film was used for a slow crawling scene. The other song choices were terrible. The villain never seemed to pose any real threat besides being something Blue Beetle had to fight. Whoever put this together just slapped parts of other superhero movies together and it shows. Not creative in any way. I'd say it's better than Shazam 2 but that's a low bar to overcome. I don't see myself ever wanting to watch this again. Stop giving George Lopez work. This is a bad movie, thus the 5/10 The hero was cool and it's the only thing saving it from an even lower rating. This was brutal to watch.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Definitely a kids movie. Meh
Im a big video game fan but this movie just didn't hold my attention at all. If fan service is throwing everything on a screen and seeing what sticks, this has fan service I guess. To me it all was just a Nintendo themed movie. The music was a big let down. A lot of the music has been over used in movies lately. Kinda killed the musical aspects of the film for me. The whole thing felt kinda phoned in. Chris Pratt's voice is so recognizable now from everything else he has voiced that it ruined Mario for me. It killed a lot of the movie magic. Really wanted to like this movie but it's just a mediocre animated kids movie. The film makers were lucky to have such a vast pool of source material.
Black Adam (2022)
The Rock can't act but the movie was bad too
The rock can't act. Somebody should realize this fact. He sucks. He's only good enough for dumb car movies. Other wrestlers much better sctors. He has a fake look and is no meaning to his voice. His self importance shines through in this film. Whatever is in his head translates to the screen, and what's in his head is nothing. I think at this point it's very clear, what makes a super hero movie great inspirational acting combined with a decent story. The story was not decent but The Rock could have ruined every well scored super hero movie just by being in the movie. Even a non-speaking role. He's terrible. Stop giving this joke actor work.
Spiderhead (2022)
It's a movie.....I guess
It has actors. There's music at times. There is a story that's told. It's basically a movie but it's not worth watching. Waste of time. Try's so hard to be something but just fails on so many levels. It looked like they were going for a shocking revelations and failed over and over. Snooze fest. Basically more Netflix trash. I can't really say much good about this one. They did make a "movie" at least. So bad though. If they did everything way different it could have been better. If you're thinking about watching this, don't bother. I honestly don't know how anyone could give this a decent rating.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005)
Loved the movie. Can't give it a ten though. Close.
Loved the books and loved the movie. I can't give it a ten because it kinda still rubbed me the wrong way. It was the actors. The casting wasn't well done. I didn't feel much for any of them. Freeman did a decent job but not Zooey and Bey didn't bring any to the party. Those two hurt the movie. Great visual effects. Lots of hilarious content. I'm fine with it not completely matching the books but the lead actors really hurt my enjoyment. So....9/10. I can't trash a great movie just because a couple performances were weak. The rest of the movie mostly made up for those flaws.
Idiocracy (2006)
I give this a solid 10 because it's a comedy and it really is hilarious.
Love this movie. It's a comedy and it made me laugh even on re-watches. The most important part of a comedy is if it made me laugh and how often. It's not a cinematic masterpiece but it is a hilarious movie. It's also amusing to me that I'm being entertained by a dumb movie that pokes fun at people for being entertained by dumb movies. I picked this up off the movie rental place because the summary made it sound good but I had never heard a thing about it. So glad I did. Most people I know enjoyed it too. It's dumb. It's funny. It's a dumb funny movie and I think that's what the creators were going for. Mission accomplished!
Ten out of ten and two thumbs up.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Started off good
I enjoyed seasons 1 and 2. I like it less with every new episode since. The acting is all over. Ridged, overplayed and just laughable at times. Oddly enough the only laughs I have had watching this entire series so far was laughing at the bad lines and their execution. I love every live action Star Trek show except this one. I don't see myself rewatching this one. Not sure if I'll keep watching it and praying it will get better.
The History of Future Folk (2012)
This movie is a gem. Very fun. Very funny.
I made the mistake of judging a movie by its cover on this one. I was so surprised at how good it was for a low budget film. I don't even like using the words "low budget" because it's almost unnoticeable with how fun the film is. Heartwarming but not in a cheesy way. The characters were all fun. Had some great lines. The music was very enjoyable and made me laugh. I kinda wish the songs were longer and there were more of them. I highly recommend this movie and everyone so far appreciated the recommendation so it gets a solid 10. I feel like my life is better having seen this and that to me also makes a movie worth giving it a perfect score.
Passengers (2016)
This is a solid movie. Beautiful. Interesting. Fun. Thrilling
I really enjoyed the movie the first time I saw it. It was worth a second viewing. JL was excellent. Chris's acting was acceptable. I thought the visual effects were beautiful. Very cool story line. Was funnier during the first viewing. The comedic parts didn't hold up well on the second viewing. Everything else held up well. I'd recommend this movie to others so it gets a solid 8.
Moonfall (2022)
I watched it once. Not worth the time.
It had some neat stuff but overall I felt I've seen this movie before as it's feels like a conglomeration of other similarly themed movies. Didn't feel inspiring or original. Absolutely not set in reality. Just too silly. The effects of the moon were ridiculous. It was hard to take this movie seriously and it seemed like they were trying for a serious feel. Can't rate lower than a 5 as the visuals were kinda cool and it looked like there was some effort. Can't rate it higher because it otherwise stunk.
Dune (2021)
The only thing better than this film is the book.
Saw it on IMAX. Amazing! Loved it. Excellent set up for the next film. The acting was excellent. Definitely nothing wrong with the story. Visually impressive. The film felt like exploring a new world and discovering its wonders. In that aspect I was really impressed. There was a lot of ground to cover and it did it well given the length of the film. If you watch this and want to see what's next, you are in for a treat.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Sick, Twisted, Gross and Hilarious.
Great movie. I don't have any complaints. I enjoyed the entire film. Starro was awesome. One of my favorite DC movies for sure. Who's Milton?" Very violent.
Mr. Nobody (2009)
Feels different every time I watch
When I first saw this it was great experience and well felt but I failed to understand a lot of what was being shown. The second time I remembered what I wanted to pay attention to and it hit even harder. On a third viewing I thought I had it down and it was good. I just watched it a fourth time and I found things I had still completely missed. Unbelievable movie. I feel like I'm lucky and cursed to have seen it. I'm interested with a lot of the topics that this film highlights. Maybe that's why it hits so hard every time I watch. This movie isn't for everyone but if you like this sort of thing you will love it. It's a bit of a puzzle, it's not easy to understand completely and so it takes focus to feel the whole thing. It felt like Cloud Atlas with a taste of Wes Anderson's Moon Rise Kingdom's visuals. All that mixed with that hard burn and crush feeling of Gattaca. But, The Gattca emotional crush is not just the end but sprinkled throughout the whole movie. The ending seals it all up. Normally i dislike dream sequence's. This movie feels like it does and doesn't contain dream sequences and it's so well blended my mind skips over any prejudice to them if they are there. If you only watch this once and are not ready for it or distracted, you won't get it. It's a trip not a movie. It's not flash bang and spoon fed. It doesn't make you pay attention, you have to pay attention to it. If you don't go all in and allow your mind to just experience it all, you will miss out. I've seen it multiple times and I'm still confused how to explain it. Great movie. So good.
Pacific Rim (2013)
10 Awesome giant robot vs monster action.
It's fun to watch. As far as this type of movie is considered, giant robots fighting monsters action. It's a ten.
Sweet Tooth (2021)
It's just not that fantastic. Meh at best
Netflix is really lowering the bar. Not a fan of a lot of the acting. I don't know why anyone would sign up the guy from Zoo. It's just not that great. I can't really find much good to say about it besides the concept being neat. Didn't grab my interest though. I don't feel like finishing the season. Too much fake feel good fluff. The whole thing just seems off.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
I liked it. Fun to watch. Good movie.
Fun movie. It was a long but I was never bored. Laughed more than I expected. Some of the characters movements and situations were odd even for a super hero movie. I feel this could have been a solid 8 with only a handful of changes. Nothing amazing acting wise. It's a solid 7. Good movie.
Space Force (2020)
Good at first but way better a second time around.
I rewatched this and it was absolutely hilarious on the second viewing. There's so much going on it's hard to catch everything on the first go. Lots of quick jokes that can fly by if you're not paying attention. Had a few rough spots but I really want a second season. Great Job!
Mulan (2020)
First time experience with Mulan
I didn't watch the original but I decided to give it a go. It really didn't hold my attention. Nothing really moved me. Seemed generic and lacked anything of real substance. At a certain point my interest in seeing how it ended went away, I was just waiting for it to end. Felt like it dragged on for ages. I had high hopes for this movie and Disney in general. What I'm seeing is a loss of quality in the brand. At this point I'm worried Disney will be ruining everything in the near future. A forgettable movie, I should have just rewatched a favorite instead of wasting my time with this.
Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020)
This one is bad. Really bad.
Nothing Trek about it besides the theming and lame references. The two red shirt characters are just too much to take. Why is the cast constantly shouting? It's like the whole cast is hopped up on cocaine and loving it but all the viewer gets is that nasty cocaine taste. This show is ear torture. I watched 3 episodes and I can't recall a single character name or the ship. I like every single Star Trek show besides this one. It's not funny. It's not creative. It's just annoying. I was going to give 5 stars but reliving those episodes in my head while writing this made me go with 3 instead. Speaking of 3. I hated episodes 3 the most because as I realized it too was horrible, I began to hate myself for having watched the first two episodes. The Intro to the show has the ship falling into a space phenomenon only to escape followed by an alien sucking on the ship. This was supposed to be funny? Why? These are exact scenarios that happen regularly on Star Trek. Ships fall into holes, Aliens attach to the ship. If the Alien farted...At least you're would have a fart joke. It's as if nobody even tried for it to be funny. BAD!!!!
