Kimi no na wa. (2016)
One of If Not The Best Anime of All Time
Masterpiece of an anime that is almost perfect in every aspect of it, from amazing animation, incredible soundtracks, interesting concept, and an engaging story, this anime have it all
you know an anime have an incredible art when every frame of it is a wallpaper worthy picture and that is the case with Kimi No Na wa, it looks breathtaking & eye pleasing every single seconds of it, the way they did lighting and shading is just so perfect it gives off this semi realistic look while still keeping it animated
The animation for this movie is nothing ground breaking but its still pretty impressive and looks pretty smooth.. its worthy enough for a cinema release
The soundtrack is incredible, im not just talking about the main OST's with vocal singing in em, im talking about the OST's as a whole including the instrumentals that plays in the background of the movie
the concept is pretty interesting as it takes the word "Soul-Mate" and took it literally, its a simple premise and concept but its interesting enough for me to keep watching till the end
The story is pretty engaging especially after the the second act of the movies (i dont wanna spoil anything so i wont say much about it)
this anime is the anime that made me realized that anime is an art form and not just something for kids to enjoy but also for grown ups.
Shin Ultraman (2022)
A Love Letter For Classic Tokusatsu Fans
Shin Ultraman really is a movie made by fans and for fans, you can really see the passion behind it shines through in the work with the reference & little nods to the classic show here and there while still being its own thing and not being overly relying on them
Shin Ultraman kinda feels like "Rebuild of Evangelion" of The Ultraman franchise, i guess it make sense considering the people who worked on Rebuild of Evangelion (Hideaki Anno & Shinji Higuchi) also worked on this too, so the style and vibe kinda rubbed off into this movie
it faithfully captures the spirit of the Original 66 Ultraman show not just by using classic design, sound effect, & amazingly remade soundtrack (which are composed & arranged by the talented Shiro Sagisu) but also by understanding the core theme massage & philosophy of the classic show while still putting its own spin to it by adding stuffs like social & political commentary in them
but the movie aint perfect i feel like the movie is structured kinda weird, it felt like watching 5 different episodes instead of a 1 cohesive movie and also the CGI while it looks amazing most of the times it can look wonky sometimes i hope they improve that in the sequel but overall its a must watch for a tokusatsu fans..
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
One of The G.O.A.T
This movie is one of the G. O. A. T cause its a superhero movie that is not afraid to focus more on the "Man" aspect of Spider-Man
it really fleshed out Peter Parker as a person and how he struggles living his two lifes as a Poor College Student and an All powerful Superhero, even tho his hero life is ruining his personal life, his grades, his romantic relationship with MJ, and also his friendship with Harry but he still keeps going and push through cause he needs to bear the great responsibility that comes with his great power, also Peter as a character parallels with main villain Doc Ock who happens to be Peter's idol who peter looked up to and wants to be like, Doc Ock also has a great power (His Intelligence) but the difference between peter & him is he let go of his own responsibility (of only using his Intelligence for the good of man kind) to pursue his own goal unlike Peter who almost did it by giving up being Spider-Man but after Aunt May's pep talk & he realized that the people of the city needs him, he pick back up his mantle.. Sacrificing his own happiness for the greater good, Which is very inline with Spider-Man main core theme massage and that is Responsibility, Sacrifice, & Choice
its really simple story wise but i dont see that as weakness of the movie, i actually see it more of a strength, cause with simple plot they could focus more on the character complexity and how they developed especially Peter.
The Movie could be cheesy at times but i see it as charming and adds to the style & flavor of the movie.
Ultraman (2004)
One of My Fave Toku Films i have ever watch
This movie is amazing it has decent writing, awesome soundtrack, and awesome redesign the only downside of this movie is the CG i know this movie is a 2004 movie but still it could have been handled better
with all of its flaws it still a great toku movie for me, it's kinda sad that this movie didn't do well because of it's darker tone and serious story.
