Haunted Trail (2021)

It was... okay
10 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Good concept. But... the characters need work.

These people really took dumb horror movie characters to the next level.

How are we lead to believe that Zay is desirable to literally every beautiful woman. I only kept watching in the hopes he would be killed off early. No such luck.

The other characters were fine, but with no real character development or any back ground other than things involving.. guess who.. Zay. FFS. We should have had more insight into the killers background, other than his daddy is mad that Zay was the superior ball player. What caused him to sprial? What other things had Zay done to him? How did the other friends laugh at him? How else did it impact him? He came off as a whiney baby without any background.

The actors were fine for the most part. The mask and set design were great.

Did you even try?

I wish the main characters would have worked on their American accents a bit more or just set it in the UK, it kind of took me out of it. NONE of the characters werent really built out or likable. I was excited to watch this thinking it would be a continuation of the trilogy, but... nope. Rushed cash grab. Boooooo.

The first 10 minutes were just a rehash of the first movie. Theres a "nod" and there is just copying something beat for beat. The only good thing about this movie was being able to see Dee Wallace, such a legend. I wish she was the main focus here and that she had some original stuff to work with during her screen time.

If i watched it as a standard b movie that has nothing to do with the original series I think I would have liked it a lot more.

I loved it
6 September 2021
Let's start out with the negative comments I have: a lot of the horror was off screen. I would have liked to see more of it. I know that's most likely the point of the villain, to have him be elusive.

It came off as a bit anti police, which, with the state of the world, I get it. But, every single cop in this movie are just... evil to the core.

That being said, I loved this movie. It tied in well with the first movie. The actors were great, especially the two leads. The psychological body horror were enough to make me feel scared. I like the backstop of the characters. I would definitely watch it again.

I think it's worth a watch. Fom your own opinion on it.

I liked it!

Warning: Spoilers
Nit going to be a popular opinion, but I liked this movie. With the exception of...the last 10 seconds. I got it up to that point. The windigo are real, they tried to trick him into killing his friend with hallucinations. They wanted him to join then. BUT, in the end, he stabbed himself instead. Him turning into a windigo in the last few seconds confused me, unless, it's just the hallucinations still happening intermittently.

Who knows! Interesting watch.

Eh

Not going to lie, the female lead was insufferable. However, I think that was kind of the point as the story goes.

I didn't mind this film. Did it make a lot of sense? Nah. I enjoy me a good "turn off your brain and watch" movie, though.

I liked the acting and the visuals. Probably won't watch again. Make your own opinion.

Kickass movie with strong women

I LOVED this movie. The action scenes were definitely the best part, but then there is also the CAST. Damn, they were all amazing. You truly got emotionally invested in these women. I will definitely watch it again and again.

It's a no from me

Plot: fine, cool. Basic vampire movie. Nothing new, but not terrible.

It was the characters I had a problem with. Every single one was so flat and boring. You couldn't make any emotional connection with them. Then there was this constant flip flop of emotions towards other characters.

The scares were minimal and basic.

Honestly, don't waste your time on this one. It was a bore rather than a b movie.

I dunno
14 August 2021
I liked the majority of the acting and the lead characters story.

The set design and costume was poorly done, but I assume that's because of a low budget. When they face the "queen", it's blurry as hell (explained away by a plot point).

I didn't find it boring like most people on here, but it did have some slow moments. Interesting story line, but could have been way more ironed out.

Overall - didn't love it, didn't hate it.

Wut?

Warning: Spoilers
The "twist ending" is so confusing. Is she still tripping, or....?

The killing parts were awesome. The lead was great. I'm just confused as all hell.

Good watch, average movie.

The themes and concept is great. Acting is good (for the most part). The ending was anti climatic. Needed more details in some parts, less details in others. It was average.

If you want a feature length anti abortion film, you're in luck! Acting is absolute garbage, story line literally makes no sense, and its not frightening in the least.

You had me... then you lost me.

Warning: Spoilers
The premise was really good. The thrills and gore were decent and then... the last 30 minutes or so. I begged, I pleaded, do not give a happy ending. They did exactly that. Everything was wrapped up in a cute little package, with the lovers traveling to Brazil and even the professor that lost his leg ended up surviving. Sure, there was that unanswered question of "where is her soul?!" Dude. Come on.

And who tha fuh is the woman missing from the leads life? Who was the dude she was talking to on the phone? Huh? I like a good puzzle as much as anyone, but give us enough pieces to be able to figure it out.

Gah.
