Superb!

Warning: Spoilers
Excellent plot, although borrowing part of the plot from Agatha Christie's "Murder On The Orient Express". The difference is those scenes in Lady Vengeance were aptly described by some here, poetic indeed ! And I'm not easy to get emotionally touched, but I was in this movie - mixed emotions of sadness and even nervously laughing a bit, not because it's funny, but due to the brilliance of the actors and director to evoke such emotions.

Prey (I) (2022)

Worthy Prequel
6 August 2022
I've seen all the Predator movies, I give the first one a 9/10, second one 8/10, next ones were bad. Adrien Brody came in and I gave that a 7/10. This one, inspite of its lower budget, I give an 8/10.

I like the setting and the time period. A woman as the hero ? Well, I'm fine with that, she was agile, fast, and did move like a man, so no issue there.

Slow pace ? I didn't think so, I'm fine with it. Only those who want non-stop action will be disappointed I guess, like those superhero movies.

And I like dogs, so having the dog in the movie was a nice touch, reminded me of the movie 'The Last of the Dogmen', and the soundtrack reminded me of 'The Last Of The Mohicans' - and both of these movies involved Indians.

What I didn't like is the ending which was shot in darkness. I preferred it to have been daylight.

Beautiful

Excellent action movie with a touch of comedic moments. No over the top fighting scenes, just bone-crunching scenes close to realism - e.g. Sometimes one punch is enough.

From sublime to the ridiculous in 3 steps

I agree with @nigelmcdonald in his review of this show, so I just used his same title. I'd give 8/10 for Season 1, 6/10 for Season 2, 2/10 for Season 3.

Surprisingly good
13 June 2022
I had low hopes for this, intending to just skim through the movie, but that wasn't the case, I ended up watching it completely. It was engaging, a simple story about a legendary gunfighter and his family relationships.

I keep a lot of movies, including lots of westerns (Winchester '87, Unforgiven, The Naked Spur, Lawman, Once Upon a Time In the West, Day Of The Outlaw, Stalking Moon, The Revenant, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Ox_Bow Incident, My Darling Clementine, The Searchers, Open Range, The Last Gunfighter, etc I can go on and on), and this movie is not going to the garbage bin. It is not as great as those I mentioned, but it's decent enough to keep and rewatch one fine day, 6/10.

The G.O.A.T. of Westerns
13 February 2022
I've watched hundreds of westerns, and this tops them all. Truly amazing, a combination of the best spaghetti and American western in one movie. A great epic, beautiful cinematography, excellent story.

I just love all 3 main leading actors, and even Claudia Cardinale fits into the story nicely. Henry Fonda's facial expression is priceless, the face of a killer. The close-ups done by Sergio Leone is all good, beautiful in capturing various expressions, or even just the stoic expression of Charles Bronson.

The new generation shouldn't miss this picture, it has aged well, and I just watched it again in its restored version yesterday.

Other great westerns - Unforgiven, Day Of The Outlaw, Lawman, Winchester '73, and so many others :)

Good Thriller

Warning: Spoilers
Excellent in most parts, gripping story, but ending stretches too far in believability. On the other hand, this ending was true to usual thrillers, you know, where protagonists start to do dumb stuff ...

Enola Holmes (2020)

Refreshing
23 September 2020
I have watched a lot of Sherlock Holmes, with Jeremy Brett and Basil Rathbone as favorites, as well as a lot of Poirot shows etc, and I really like this light-hearted refreshing movie. The only thing I didn't like is the portrayal of Mycroft, they could just have brought back the Mycroft portrayed in the Jeremy Brett movies.

Sure, Enola is not found in the books (but so were many films with Basil Rathbone), but that doesn't detract from the entertainment value. Hope for more to come ...
