Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Ragnarok
By bringing in Taika Waititi, a New Zealand director who brings in his special vision and kiwi humour into the mix, this an amazing, kaleidoscopic, gut-bustlingly hilarious ride.
Best of the Thors and top 3 of the Marvel universe.
Logan (2017)
Logan
This is a phenomenal comic book movie. The most mature one as well. Now a lot of people say that this is a dark and gritty film and to an extent, they are right. But this is a film that gives us a harsh, harsh reality that wolverine, has to deal with. He is living in the shadow of his old self. He doesn't have his healing factor, making him incredibly vulnerable both physically and mentally. His physical health is awful, and works as a driver for living. The film is pretty simple in its plot. It's not about a hero in a spandex fight crime, it's about a survivor in a hostile world. Logan is trying to have a normal life but he just can't. He is constantly chased by his past and his animalistic nature, as well as his lone wolf attitude. He doesn't even seem to be happy taking care of his professor. He also meets X-23, played by Dafne Keen, who gives a phenomenal performance despite not given much dialogue. Their relationship is tragic and heartfelt to behold. It is truly tragic that all this time, logan does not care about the child, but when he finally makes a connection, he dies in the most brutal way possible. Seeing x-23 crying over her father was a giant tear jerker thanks to the emotions from these actors that they professionally display.
Ali (2001)
Smith as Ali
Cant believe how long its been since ive seen this yet its still fresh in my mind. Wil smith gives a powerful performance as Ali. Some if the critic's were a bit harsh but overall this is a fantastic movie.
Boogie Nights (1997)
Fantastic
This movie is fantastic. It contains so much joy, and so much despair. The unbroken shot at the pool party is technically brilliant. Scene after scene it just gets better, and the last scene.....well, if you haven't seen it, I won't spoil it for you.
True Grit (1969)
Legendary film
This is one of the best Westerns ever made. There's plenty of low-key humor. You can tell that John Wayne and Glen Campbell enjoyed their roles but played them straight. The characters are well-drawn and unique. Even after all the years I can remember the names of even minor characters, J. Noble Daggett, Tom Chaney and The Original Mexican. Who could ever forget the showdown between Ned Pepper and Rooster Cogburn? "Fill yer hand" (with this movie) and see how good a Western can and should be!
Schemers (2020)
Film fail.
Only my second film ive seen since cinemas reopened. Was very disappointed i chose to see this. Was interesting to see Dundee in film but it does nothing apart from that. It was amateurish acting and very over the top accents that ive only every heard the homeless drunks in town talk like. I wish i could say i liked this but i just cant fond anything about it i liked. I heard a few laughs from others seated behind me but think that was at the dreadful dialogue.
The Dark Knight (2008)
Love it.
Best superhero movie and best film overall. Love it and can watch it over and over. Flawless.
