The Menu (2022)
Overly pretentious waste of time
Complete boring claptrap lecture on wealthy vs poor or something along those boring contrived lines.
No connection, sympathy nor empathy for any of the characters, so no vested interest in their fate.
Should never have been labeled comedy or horror as there is nothing funny or even that horror ish about it (save for murder).
Would have served better suited as a stage play for the same pretentious people this movie seems to preach against.
Utterly boring, no moments of shining perfomances... Fiennes could have kept his Harry Potter Robes on for all the difference it would have made.
No idea how this is satire as it was as blunt as a cast iron skillet across the face.
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)
What do you expect when everyone has been replaced
Despite claims Salva won't recieve money from production, he created the Creeper...though this movie produces a sad sad knockoff of what the Creeper used to be... so Salva undoubtedly did recieve some money from this movie.
They should have never made this movie, or just went ahead and used Salva's script because the script they did up using was an utter abortion. Rosemary's baby BS had no place in Creeper mythos.
Add to it they replaced all the prior people who worked on the Creeper movies and shipped the jobs over to the UK including the irreplaceable Breck ( The original Creeper), sorry new guy, you just don't have the stage presence nor the threatening body language to pull it off.
Also the new Creeper makeup? Pitiful.
They were in to much of a rush ( should have waited until after covid died down). I mean the list goes on and on....
If you can watch it for free, go for it...
Otherwise don't waste a penny.
Martyrs Lane (2021)
Beautiful old fashion ghost story
A little slow to start, but it's solid story telling.
The two young actors are fantastic! Beautiful sad story of dealing with loss or not dealing with loss.
Whomever wrote the dynamics between Bex and Leah got it spot on, it's a weird play between sister siblings when there is that much of an age difference.
Where the Scary Things Are (2022)
Good form of birth control...
Is the only redeeming quality of this movie.
Sci-fy meets lifetime movie of the week with no scares or plot sums up this movie nicely.
What little plot there is, focuses on a young teen girl manipulating her friend group with her sexual wiles, and the children/teens of today being little narcissistic psychopaths in training that strive and live for the approval and adoration of strangers on the internet.
I want my time back.
Revealer (2022)
Interesting 80s vibe
Funnily enough, the end credits are almost better than the whole rest of the movie.
Other than that, pretty predictable plots points, special effects are good though.
Monsterland: Plainfield, Illinois (2020)
Depressing as hell like the rest of the series, deserving of it's own trigger warning
Like a train wreck I haven't been able to stop watching this monstrously depressing series. Though this one might hit horribly close to home with those with mental illness that have tried to kill themselves or have felt like doing so. I would put a strong warning as it might play into worst fears, however I must admit it might be the best visual/allogory to someone who doesn't understand how someone can just feel like dying if they haven't seen/experienced it first hand.
