Nope (2022)
Nope is dope
Jordan Peele strikes again with, what I would consider to be - his second best films so far. It's is behind Get Out, albeit not by a lot. I'm really enjoying seeing him tackle different horror concepts with each new film he makes (this one focusing on creature/monster horror). The cinematography was well done (as it turns out Peele has brought the cinematographer from Her). The music was well done, although nothing particularly mind blowing. The performances were all around well done and I find it pretty amusing how Steven Yeun seems to be in everything these days. Perhaps Michael Wincott's performance might be viewed as a bit over-the-top, but it definitely seemed like an intentional ''over-the-topness''. The highlight though have to be Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer's performances - who have a very natural and watchable chemistry on screen. Like the other films from Peele, the horror is spiced up with a some well incorporated comedy. The film also has a lot of symbolism in many scenes, some of which I probably haven't even noticed until I see the film again. Overall this is a really good film.
