The Bling Ring (2022)
This was fascinating
Yes everyone involved --apart from the prosecutors--is absolutely horrible but the Bling Ring story is crazy and the doc is worth watching. The now-grown-up kids have absolutely zero shame and a million excuses for their crimes but I gotta give them credit for great story telling.
Regarding their awful lawyers, I am horrified how badly these kids were represented by their legal counsel who were clearly just as obsessed with celebrity as their loser clients. But since one of the lawyers was chosen based on HIS LOOKS (he's not that great BTW) what do you expect.
This is a good doc for someone who didnt know the Bling Ring story --especially the reality show angle--and wants to get the full scoop.
The Sex Lives of College Girls (2021)
Fun, breezy humor
Like most of Mindy Kalings work, this series stays upbeat, has no really evil characters and lots of laugh out loud lines.
If you want some fun diversion and nothing dark, check out this show.
Hunting Bigfoot (2021)
An interesting look at "Bigfoot Obsessives"
I watched this at Cinequest Online--not recommended for someone who wants a traditional Bigfoot horror flick but rather a psychological study of a BF obsessive mocked by his friends but who gets vindicated at the end.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
This amazing show caught me by surprise
I was slogging thru my Netflix offerings, willing to watch any piece of crap they threw my way when I halfheartedly clicked on The Queens Gambit. Normally I bail after 10 minutes but this one had me totally mesmerized from the start. I'm now on Ep 5 and it just keeps getting better. Watch it you will love it.
Mighty Ira (2020)
Very Interesting and Well-Paced
As a (former) member of the ACLU I was curious to learn about the organization's golden era, which I'm informed took place under the stewardship of Mr. Glasser.
The doc doesn't disappoint--Glasser's life story is fascinating, the historical footage is well used and the defense of the 1st Amendment is perfectly articulated..
