Too many unnecessary songs make the plot a bit dull, but SRK stardom was off the charts
20 September 2023
The storyline is quite decent, and the important messages sent to the mass people throughout the entire film made it better. However, at some points the plot seemed rushed and low-depth - arising several plot-holes in my opinion. One more thing what irritated me was the excessive use of songs every now and then, which felt totally unnecessary. Well, given that it's an Indian cinema made for mass people - a few songs won't hurt but there's just too many.

Factoring all those issues in, this film should've gotten a 7 at best.

But. The SRK effect. His performance and aura alone were sufficient to make this film thoroughly entertaining, and the lead villain role as well as the supporting actors did pretty well too. The action sequences combined with good background music were enjoyable, although they were... very... Tamil. Nonetheless, like I said, enjoyable. Not to mention a decent use of humor as well. A combination of all these manages to deliver a good theatre experience to the public - hence, an 8 - a tribute to the last of the stars!

Blue Beetle (2023)

What could have been a really cool superhero film ruined by terrible writing.
19 September 2023
Anyone who follows DC or even comics as a whole, knows how promising of a character Blue Beetle is in the comics-verse. Guy has been a featuring member of Teen Titans for decades, holding his own as one of the coolest drawn characters that has a very interesting backstory regarding an alien symbiote. The character had immense potential to be turned into a promising live-action film-series out of it. And frankly speaking, I think the cast choice was good as well - they could've pulled off the hype. The only thing that ruined this film, however, is the writing. It's terrible - felt so rushed and low-depth at some points that you'd feel like pausing to not continue watching anymore. CGI was bad for some parts too, but that can still be overlooked as most of it gets the job done quite well. But the writing, man, it's awful. DCU won't have much to build on if they continue doing such pathetic job at writing stories like this.

Amazingly far-sighted
17 August 2023
Got to be one of the most fascinating science-fiction movies I've come across in recent years. Very interesting concept, good story buildup, fantastic cast, and terrific vision - all combined into one. Unlike most other movies of this genre, it does not make you feel entirely lost, while still manages to deliver a plot where you keep wondering what's going to happen next.

I did not expect it to be nearly as good, the initial story building process alone had me sold. It was realistic, science-backed, and intriguing to say the very least. However, the first 3/4th of the movie was comparatively more engaging compared to the last part, which felt a bit out of place and rushed. Nonetheless, a really enjoyable watch.

You're in for a treat - ONLY if you're an attentive viewer!
26 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not sure if I'm educated enough to review this film. That's how historically accurate it was, that's how successful Nolan was in terms of helping the audience visualize a 3-hour long biopic about one of the most important figures in the history of mankind.

Murphy was fantastic. So was RDJ, Blunt and the rest of the cast. The script was well-written, and I felt Nolan intentionally made the audience jump back and forth between events occurring in different points of the timeline so that the audience have to connect the dots for themselves. This is, in my opinion, what made the biopic even more epic as you'd have to be attentive and figure out what's been happening by yourself. The thoughts it can provoke inside you - specially as part of the future generation - is remarkable. This is pure storytelling, in its most raw and accurate form.

However, if you're only expecting to see irrelevant nuclear detonations and blasts throughout the entire runtime, you probably should reconsider. What history says, Nolan shows. Nothing more, nothing less.

Barbie (I) (2023)

Misleading.
24 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I personally expected the movie to be fun and adventurous. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that what it is supposed to be? It's literally a movie about Barbie. Instead, it felt more like an agent of woke culture, and basically Mattel's (the company that produces Barbie dolls) way of capitalizing the emotional aspect of the cinephiles to make their business more popular and trendier. It continuously tried to portray the fact that Mattel is no more producing white barbie dolls, it is now producing dolls of all colors and races. Well, that is definitely a good thing, but making most of the movie focus on that aspect felt very boring and wrong. If they didn't quite make a movie that is fun and adventurous, why make the marketing events misleading? They could've just focused on the audience for whom it was made, rather than on the entire world through their absurdly irrelevant marketing events that made the world think that this movie is going to be all about fun and adventure. Sadly, it was not nearly as enjoyable as the misleading marketing made it seem.

Cruise delivers once again, but the plot & the characters were not well written at all.
17 July 2023
Tom Cruise once again delivers what he promised - visually stunning shots combined with amazing stunt work. No stones were left unturned there, hence the theatre experience you'd have is highly likely to be very good. The sound effects need to be mentioned here as well, they were effectively as good.

However, I personally expected the storyline to be a lot better - as both the last three films of the series (Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation and Fallout) delivered uniqueness. However, I personally felt that this one, unfortunately, lacked that particular aspect. On top of that, the characters were written horribly, in my opinion this is what made the plot seem even more dull. It's as if they were written in a rush and had the bare minimum connection to each other. Therefore, if you've been a MI fan for long, you would easily be able to detect that something's missing. The chemistry just wasn't there.

I honestly hope they make part II better than this one.

To be honest, better than I expected.
3 July 2023
Well, let me be frank here - the last couple transformer-films were not up to the mark; hence I find the generic public disappointment towards the franchise to be logical. In fact, I was disappointed myself, and was skeptical whether I should take the trouble of going to the theatre for this or not. Despite not having the enthusiasm to go, I ended up going and had a good time.

The storyline is alright - not the best I'd say, but just alright for you to enjoy. It felt a bit rushed at some points, but not something too noticeable. The lead actors were new, and they did a good job. But if you ask for my opinion - I'd argue that it'd be more charming to see someone a bit more heavyweight - as that's the way how Transformer-films have always been. As for our GIANT SPACE ROBOTS - some of their characters should've been more well-written. So, there were multiple factors that needed improvement.

Nonetheless, a good watch. I enjoyed it to quite an extent, which I originally feared I won't.

Magical
17 June 2023
This is not just a film. It's an emotion, an experience.

Coherent storytelling. Amazing characters, each with perfect design. The entire animation style is revolutionary, I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. Pair all these up with soundtracks that if called masterpieces, would be understated. Each of the soundtracks are so good that you'd really find a hard time choosing the best one. Not to mention the perfect timing to utilize the soundtracks so that you get the best possible experience on the theatre.

Honestly man, I thought its predecessor already set the bar too high, and it won't be able to cross that. But I got to tell you, I was wrong.

The Flash (I) (2023)

Below average for a FLASH film!
17 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm going to keep it short.

Why is it below average?

  • Terrible CGI. And when I say terrible, I mean it. Specially the first half of the movie felt like total cartoon. Say, for example, the newborn-saving scene. What was that?! Come on WB super-fast heroes saving the world isn't new. We've seen quicksilver in X-Men Days of Future Past, even Flash himself in the series and JL movies before. Making an immensely potential DC character like Flash seem like a joke felt really sad.

  • More grade 7 humor than a serious story.

Still why a 7?

  • The flashpoint paradox. Finally. We've all been waiting for it. Gladly, that part's CGI was slightly better.

  • Keaton's batman was fantastic. For me, he stole the show.

  • Some parts felt nostalgic. And yeah, contains some good catchphrases, probably will make you laugh too.

Come and get your love!
8 May 2023
Honestly, the finest Marvel movie in a while. Had the perfect amount of everything - nostalgia, emotions, and a fitting ending.

I was never much of a GOTG fan to begin with; therefore, my expectations were low as I only decided to watch it for the plot. However, I ended up having a really good time. In my opinion, this was the best one amongst the three. The visual effects were good, definitely worth watching in the theatre. Not to mention the amazing soundtracks used, and boy they did make perfect use of the soundtracks to hit you right in the feels.

Confused whether to go watch it or wait? Here's a hint that might be helpful - Groot loves you all, so come and get your love! Happy watching :)

The Night Agent (2023– )

Good enough to empty the bucket of popcorns, not good enough to place it among the bests of its kind.
3 April 2023
I'll be honest and give it to you straight - whether you will find it half decent or not depends upon what exactly are you looking for to watch - something that should be enough to keep you engaged to kill your boredom, or something that needs to be very logical and up-to-the-mark so that it leaves you dazzled?

As for the first option, it's a green. Watch it, you'll enjoy it. The leads did okay, the storyline is okay (it's not GREAT but it does manage to change the character you suspect quite a few times), and you'll even find the ending decent.

However, if you're more on the side of the second option, I'm afraid you may find various faulty logic-induced situations that might annoy your analytical mind. Therefore, you might not enjoy it that much.

Nonetheless, some episodes are better than the others, and overall, it's still quite a thrill-watch to sit back and enjoy.

Happy watching! :)

Different!
19 November 2022
Unlike the larger part of the audience, I haven't read the book. Therefore, for me the storyline was something new, and unique. On top of that, films like this are hard to come by these days. And whenever they do, most of the times they go unnoticed - as we are more hyped about the big budget ones, or the ones filled with popular casts.

As for myself, I liked the story, the cast, and the acting. The experience was, as I said already, different - in a captivating way. It had a calming charm to itself, slowly pacing towards the ending and while doing so, always keeping the audience wondering what might happen next. I like it when I find films like this one - that are underrated and went unnoticed.

If you're looking for something unique and touching that won't disappoint you - try this one. Happy watching! :)

Top-of-the-line plot.

No random mumbo jumbo.

Such good visuals.

Beautifully designed character relationships.

Such good portrayal of two sides of one coin.

Does not fail to show reality.

Absolutely GOAT-ed soundtracks.

Breath-taking ending. Yes, it's that good.

It's a shame that it's this much underrated. Seriously, it has everything. If I could rate some of the episodes 11/10, believe me I would have. Here's a fair warning: if you do watch it, you'll end up feeling empty. Why? Because you'll start missing it the moment it ends. Good thing is some of the soundtracks are likely to stay with you for a long time. So are some of the characters, and their quotes, and their memories!

I strongly recommend you watching it :)

As cool and cyber-punky as it gets!
2 October 2022
Undoubtedly, one of the best of this year, if not of all time (of this genre). Been a while I've binged an anime series in one go - this one made me do so after a long, long time.

Each episode develops the plot in its own unique way. There's fun, emotion, raw violence, realistic battle sequences and - most important of all, which is rare these days - maintenance of flow. You will not feel out of loop suddenly. Another thing that I liked is that it doesn't show you an unrealistic ending just to make you feel better - it shows exactly what was supposed to happen. The voice acting was good, the character designs were distinctive, cool and of course - CYBERPUNKY. AND, THE SOUNDTRACKS WERE FIRE!

Also don't worry, you don't need to play the game to enjoy this beauty. Give it a try, I'm pretty sure you'll love it. Happy watching :)

Could've been an easy 8, but instead gets a 7.
18 September 2022
Honestly, like I said, it's a good film but could've been better.

A good storyline combined with even better storytelling will make you feel totally hooked to the plot. You'll find yourself asking "Wait what?! Now happens next??" - after all, that is what we all like about good mystery thrillers, right? Well, this one is no exception. Good news is, there are multiple twists in it - making it even more watch worthy.

But unfortunately, although the plot that was being developed initially would seem perfectly balanced and flawless, it eventually loses the flow somewhere in the second hour - and continues to do so until the end. I was questioning myself throughout the first one hour "This one surely should've had a higher rating. Why this low?" Well, my take is that the disrupted flow is to blame for that.

Anyway, it's still a good watch. Definitely worth trying! Happy watching :)

The best of this year - set the bar so high, it is likely to remain that way - uncrossed.
23 August 2022
Beautiful. This is what you call a blockbuster. I've missed blockbusters like this - for I don't know how long. An absolute treat to the eyes. Trust me, you'd run out of emotions if you have been a Top Gun fanboy since watching the first one.

The script, the cast, the synergy, the acting, the timing - everything was top notch. The recreated scenes from the prequel (Top Gun, 1986) was hitting nostalgia hard - and felt like a cherry on top. It's astonishing how remarkably the entire team has managed make the sequel this good - and I'm not overacting. A worthy sequel to a classic, era-defining prequel.

My biggest regret of 2022 (yet)? Not being able to watch this one in theatres.

Not your average disaster film!
18 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This one's different. The entire POV of the film is from a camera - somebody is taping the entire situation throughout the runtime, so you get this kind of a real-feel. Unlike most, this one doesn't really focus on the ending though, like what exactly happened afterwards with the monstrous creature. Rather, it focuses more on the personal lives of the people that got affected. To be honest, plot wise this probably doesn't deserve a solid 7, but the reason I decided to do so is because this film was quite unique on its own.

Give it a try, you may like it! Happy watching! :)

Certainly, one of the most well-written of its kind!
14 June 2022
A 90's classic. That's what it is.

No over-the-top acting, no trying-to-be-too-mysterious of a plot - but serves just the right amount of suspense. The cast were good, which made the storyline stand up even better.

Not bad for a holiday night how-does-this-end (??). Try it! Happy watching :)

A worthy sequel!
14 June 2022
Is it just me, or this one is actually better than the previous one? Although I've rated both 7, I think this one's gonna be my favourite amongst the two.

The clues are well-thought, the connections are well made - and the journey itself did not bore me at all. Ed Harris did an amazing job, and so did the rest of the original cast. The side characters also did a pretty nice job - and overall the film did not make me feel out of the loop all of a sudden, which is actually a common case in treasure hunt categories.

Give it a try if you haven't already. Happy watching! :)

One of the best disaster films out there, no cap!
10 June 2022
Like I said, surprisingly better than expected. Firstly, I wasn't expecting this one to be this good as I rarely heard of it, compared to the likes of 2012- which seems to have been marketed heavily. Regardless, I decided to give it a go. Verdict: it was really good.

The plot will keep you hooked up till the end - the casting is very good. Of course there are a few *unrealistic* moments - but c'mon it's a disaster film it's supposed to be that way, no? In fact, in my opinion, this one is far better than most of the other disaster films out there. The tension, the adventure and the emotions - all align in a subtle way. However, I do think in the end the flow was a bit lost.

Still, probably going to be one of my favourites. You too, should give this one a go. Happy watching! :)

The power of goodwill that will most definitely make you feel-good :)
8 June 2022
Personally, I absolutely love when I find films like these - underrated films that very few people know about, films that help you change your perspective of looking at the world - through promoting the essence of goodwill, unity and wholesomeness - alongside leaving strong messages.

Through this one, you'll get to know about a true story - where a bunch of heroic people give it their all to rescue a couple of trapped whales. The story is miraculously adventurous, and even heart-breaking at some point - and you'll find yourself quite attached to the journey of those people at the end. Needless to say, it may even teach you a good heart-warming lesson or two! Happy watching! :)

Warning: Spoilers
Loved how they brought so many links throughout the entire series. From Laura's (potential) link to the Mockingbird (Agent 19 of S. H. I. E. L. D) to bringing in detailed-Yelena and her upcoming potential link to the future marvel films - I think this series did a pretty good job.

And of course, Kate Bishop (partner/best friend of our Hawk-eye), was amazing.

Yes time to die T-T
12 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Apparently, like you all guessed by now, the title itself lied to us.

Bond, James Bond - is permanently offline.

The story explores the post-retirement era Bond, and how he eventually gets caught up to his past. I think the plot had some holes in it which an average spy film lover would be able to spot - so in my opinion there were scope for better plotting. On that note, to be honest, it doesn't deserve a rating over 7, at best.

Then why the 8?

Being a part of the gen Z, I grew up watching Daniel Crag as the Bond. Although the previous Bond endorsers were quite the perfection themselves, no doubt, but Craig will still be my most favourite. I guess this was just an emotional kid saying goodbye to his favourite Bond.

Thank you DC 007. It's been an honour. To saving the world!

Way better than expected! RECOMMENDED
15 September 2021
The best part about this movie? It's real. Unlike most other movies of this genre, this one doesn't try to give you a feel-good unrealistic touch. Rather it manages to show you the beauty of love in its most raw form - reality.

Both the male and the female character fits in their respective roles perfectly. The side-characters also play along with the storyline. The storytelling process is captivating - you'll find yourself dazed and amazed at the same time.

Trust me, and watch it if you like this genre. Specially if you had a first love in your life.
