007: Road to a Million (2023)
Such a let down
I had been looking forward to watching this, knowing full well that it was a reality show, but somewhere in the production this seems to have missed the mark.
The choice of editing the team of London wide boys to run the games first will just turn off a huge part of the audience and makes it quite painful to sit through. The contestants lack any feeling that they could or would be a part of a secret intelligence service.
The tasks the teams run lack the panache or real feel of the Bond-movies and is quite evident that the show is just an amazing race/the pack type show with a massive void where the community between the players should be.
Visually stunning, like most Amazon shows is about the most positive thing about the show.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Just when you think it might redeem itself
Just when you think it might redeem itself Discovery manages to do something that makes your opinion of the show worse.
Although a handful of episodes have been on par with the Trek shows of the 80s/90s/00s, on the whole Discovery is direly painful to endure.
Most episodes have so little story that you could leave the room for most of it and be just as caught up when returning.
The superhero nature of Michael's character makes the show seem like it was written a teenager who thinks that all Science Fiction has to match the Marvel Universe.
As the show progresses, it becomes less of an extension to the Star Trek universe and more of a way to destroy some of Gene Roddenberry's original aims and ideals, and have the writers/producers mark their territory and damage the brand permanently.
Murder Island (2021)
Sleep inducing
Such a slow show with a very bland murder plot. The mix of drama and game show doesn't work in this instance.
The phrasing of the victim's script takes you totally out of the vibe. The audience is getting a very different view to what the contestants see which makes what they're inquiring about null and void.
Go and find the BBC's Murder Game from 2001 if you want a show like this to watch.
Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020)
Mickey taking
If the aim was to take the mickey out of Star Trek, they've certainly accomplished it. Jibes at the franchise disguised as references and homages. In a few years time CBS will likely regret what they've done with Trek shows of recent years which ultimately are damaging what ever legacy Gene Roddenberry left.
Corporate (2018)
Dilbert
Not bad, basically a live action Dilbert. A little silly, but is a humorous view of office politics and culture.
