Jack Ryan: Old Haunts (2022)
Unbelievable
The writers of this series have absolutely no clue about geopolitics. A Russian agent giving the Athens police orders? Greece is a NATO member. There is as much chance of this happening as there is a Turkish agent giving them orders. And Turkey is also a NATO member. One of the plot points has Russia casually moving their army into the Ukraine to threaten the Eastern European countries. There is no mention of Ukraine resistance at all. It's as if Ukraine is still a part of the Russian Federation. I'm sorry but I cannot buy what this show is selling. Two episodes was enough to put me off. It's a shame because I enjoyed the previous two series. Goodbye, Jack.
The Villains of Valley View (2022)
Laugh track?
Why do Disney think that laugh tracks are still ok in 2022? The show may or may not be decent but the canned laughter just kills any chance of enjoying it. I couldn't get through the first episode. This is where I would add a "boo" track if I could.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Just NO!
I'm actually kinda ticked at KR for doing this blatant cash grab. Whoever greenlighted this disaster should be thrown off a building to see if they can fly...like CM...who I'm also ticked at for doing this blatant cash grab.
Motherland: Fort Salem: Abomination (2021)
Setting the stage for season 2
An excellent start to the intrigue of season 2 after the excitement of episode 1. Raelle's new powers are explored as is Tally's growing confidence in herself. The first day of War College throws a few curves at the witches. Meanwhile Anacostia contacts Scylla as they begin to investigate the Camarilla. A cease fire between the Army and the Spree seems in the offing. In general this seems to be a Tally-centric episode with not only her confidence but her dreams of, and connection to General Alder from her brief time as a Biddy being examined. She is seeing events from Alders past and there is a mysterious and powerful witch present who seems to have been scrubbed from history. Amanda Tapping directs this episode with her usual skill.
For All Mankind: Rules of Engagement (2021)
Bravura performance
The penultimate scene with the Baldwins is one of the most powerful scenes I've ever watched. Brilliant acting and so well written. I came to this series for the alt-history and the space science. I stayed for the drama.
