Sam Elliott is correct
5 March 2022
I cannot give a review as succinct (nor as vulgar) as Mr. Elliott's, but it quite eloquently summarizes my opinion of the 126 wasted minutes of my life spent watching this dull piece of ... cinema. With the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst and Keith Carradine, my expectations were high and, sadly, ultimately sorely disappointed. To nominate it for best picture is a comment upon how far the Academy has fallen. (But then, they did bestow the best picture Oscar on an empty piece of nothing like LA LA LAND ... )

Any resemblance to the Middle English chivalric poem is purely incidental
11 August 2021
I re-read the poem (in the Tolkien translation) in hopes of better following the story line. This was a grave mistake. There are some points of convergence, but they are few and far between, and contribute nothing towards making this hodgepodge of incidents and images in any way an intelligible and meaningful film. I should have begun my journey home long before Gawain began his.
