Red Notice (2021)
2/10
Don't know why this was made
12 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I just watched this movie and I have so many questions. A lot of them have to do with the fact that this movie has no idea how the real world works. Bullfights do not work like that, police can't arrest someone with only a "suspicion" and prisons don't work as portrayed.

The characters have zero personality. Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds are exactly the same characters they are in all their other movies and Gal Gadot's character only exists to make men look dumb and women look cool. She shows up whenever she wants and then beats up Dwayne Johnson, a guy with "THE ROCK" as his middle name, with ease.

The action was also marred by poor editing. I usually don't notice this in a movie but the extremely fast-paced editing made the action scenes look even worse than they already were.

These are a few of the hundreds of questions that I have.

  • The Russian prison is located on a large mountain and the only way to leave the mountain is by helicopter. But when Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds try to escape by helicopter, the Russian guards still try to blow it up? Don't they have a life outside the prison?

  • How does a vehicle from 1931, that has been in an underground coal mine for a little less than a hundred years still have gas in the tank? Also, how can a fleet of three cars effortlessly drive through a hidden Nazi coal mine?

  • WHAT IS ED SHEERAN DOING IN THE MOVIE? Why does Interpol try to arrest Ed Sheeran? Why is Ed Sheeran singing at a secret criminal gala with people dressed up as ancient Egyptians?

A normal negative review of mine would have a score of a 4 or a 5, I'm not a very critical movie watcher. The reason I rate this movie so low is because of the astonishingly high budget. I still can't believe that Netflix paid 200 million dollars to have THIS film made, making it the most expensive Netflix original of all time.

This was one cliche, average, boring movie that has been done thousands of times before. The plot was thin, almost non-existent, the characters were their actors' default characters, even the CGI bull looked bad.

2/10, + 1 because Ryan Reynolds pretty much carried the movie.

I grew up watching Wild Kratts and I am now a zoology student, what more is there to say?
