Indie Holiday Film
13 March 2024
Christmas is my favorite time of year and so I have a particular soft spot for Christmas movies and this might very well be my favorite Christmas production of all time. Apparently the use of adults playing kids isn't done to be quirky or meant to serve any point, but simply done out of necessity as it's very low budget. In the end it just adds to the charm. You can tell everybody is fully committed and gives it their all. All done in the spirit of giving as a xmas movie should be. The end result is a joyous, lovable and whimsical film. You are even treated to some cute and kooky animation.

On the one hand I'd love to see a remake with a bigger budget and on another I'd worry it might lose something in the process. As it is, it's a very special Christmas gift.

Latinos fight Facism
12 March 2024
A rare and important film that showcases the war efforts of latinos during WW2. A team of seven soldiers are lost behind enemy lines in Italy and heroically defend civilians.

The movie's concept has mainstream sensibilities both in script and execution despite its low budget. Lots of great talent is evident in the movie's production from the Director and Actors to the Cinematography and Musical Score. It's an exciting and polished looking presentation.

Do yourself a favor and check out this excellent indie feature that helps fill the glaring gap in Hollywood's portrayal of Latinos' bravery and sacrifice during WW2.

Deadpan Hilarity

Loved it! Pure creativity and talent. The film hooks you and keeps you glued to the screen. Smartly done. Love the flashes of humor like the tongue-in-cheek reference to the title.

Wonderful performances of the actors - with an excellent protagonist and one of the best villains to hit the screen!

Let's hope there are sequels with bigger budgets though it has a charm all its own as it is! They did a lot with what they had which is in itself fun and inspiring. Truly a gem of a film.

Will now need to check out other films by Kenya Cagle and Michele Hawkins Jones! There's a lot of offerings out there these days and really glad I took a chance on this one.
