Wolf Hollow (2023)
6/10
Despite slow start, Wolf Hollow manages to establish a rising final girl and a loveable character
18 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
At best, I have mixed feelings about the plot of the movie, but it managed to finish strong. Alex Romero and her crew go on a location scouting trip, to find a spot to film. The dialogue and delivery lacked a little, but once the first death occurred, I started to let that slide. Christina Krakowski established herself as an up and coming final girl, and Lucky Steve just might be lucky enough to get some toys of himself. The score got a tad repetitive, and the gun sfx felt like they were overcompensating for that, but the story carried on and held my attention. I felt bad for the wolf getting friend zoned. There were things done right and things done wrong, which will make this film a great learning tool on both ends for up and coming film students.

I kinda enjoyed it because it brought out my snarky personality
24 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I guess I was supposed to hate this flick, but I just couldn't. It was very enjoyable watching this group die because they were over the top superficial and douchey. Normally I don't give a rat's ass about influencers, but they were such douchebags, I cheered almost every minute for the killer to wipe them out. In the plus column, it doesn't take itself even remotely seriously. I think I had a snarky comment for just about every conversation that was had within the movie. I'm not saying it's incredible or captivating, but it didn't suck. I liked how there was a twist at the end that was a plot to thin out the heard of celebs by getting rid of annoying clout chasers. If you want to have a good chuckle, give it a watch.

This was just a dud

I was bored and annoyed from start to finish because their was no real plot to this movie. She's supposed to be hunting cannibals, but for the majority of the film, it's just pointless conversation. Whoever wrote this script, had no idea what direction they were going because the characters were completely uninspired and dull. I can never get the time back that I spent watching this train wreck of a movie and for that, I am deeply resentful. I just wish I had jolly ranchers to throw at the screen because nobody should be subjected to this much stupidity in none session. Please don't make a sequel!!!

You can't take your eyes off it
16 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It's very difficult to say whether this movie is good or bad, but one thing's for sure, you can't look away. A lowly office worker who constantly gets stepped on, befriends a group of crazy imaginary friends in a world where most people would have to do a full eighth of mushrooms to discover. However, their zaniness, that tops even Troma films, is so over the top, it manages to hold your attention. There was always a wtf moment, with another one waiting around the corner. Even God is a part of this crazy universe, yet he reminded me of The Dude. It was like The Big Lebowski meets Monty Python. Finally, the guy breaks out of his shell in the end and quits his job. I got so caught up in the madness, I was able to let it slide that there wasn't much plot. I recommend watching this stoned.

Solid

Mark Cantu really impressed me with this movie in several aspects. First of all, the timing on mood, kills, and especially editing, were on point. There was never a dull moment throughout the movie, and the twist at the end only made it better. I recommend this for any die hard horror fan.

A real test of handling trauma
28 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I had heard how traumatic and disturbing this movie was so I decided to give it a go. A retired porn star gets hooked back in by some very bad people. There are some seriously disturbing things that can make a lot of people physically ill so if you have a weak stomach, this movie is not for you. There's rape, murder, torture, and sometimes I think the director wishes he could get away with making a legit snuff film. I can honestly say I take comfort in the fact that I'm not like these characters, which is probably what you should take away from this. Still definitely worth a look if you want to test your metal.

This movie at best, is a learning tool for what not to do
28 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Where do you begin with this movie? I'm gonna start with the dialogue being dull and having absolutely no flow to it. The characters weren't even remotely worth caring about because they just sounded like they were reading their lines off the ground. From minute one, it felt like the movie was begging for an audience and tried too hard from start to finish. Oh it gets better, the movie constantly overcompensates for lack of plot by frequently shifting to a news story. Were the audiences falling asleep that much? So here's what the supposed plot is. Uncle John is kept in hiding by his half wit niece and quarter wit nephew who share a brain that doesn't work. Then, suddenly, after an interview with a super bitch reporter, he becomes famous and plays the dirty old man entitled to women a third his age. Sorry Russo, but Vince McMahon already beat that concept to death in the Ruthless Aggression era. The only thing redeeming about this movie was the nostalgia of Night Of The Living Dead, which will always be the GOAT of zombie flicks. This movie was crowdfunded so lack of funds is not an excuse for being bad, I've seen better movies made on a no budget. The lessons to be learned by aspiring filmmakers from this movie are simple, create characters people care about, don't beat a concept to death, and tighten up your cinematography and editing skills before you put yourself out there.
