Knock at the Cabin (2023)
Once again...
Once again we have another film with a pretty awesome concept but is executed poorly. I feel like they could've explored the concept of the apocalypse and of the choice of sacrifice so much better.
Cabin in the woods had a similar plot except the heros didn't really get a choice. And even though it was really cheesy with all the horror movie cliches it was still such an awesome use of the apocalypse theme.
As viewers we want answers and this story just created more questions rather than answering anything. A little bit of vagueness and suspense is a good thing but this was just dumb.
I know he's trying so hard to recreate the awesomeness of the sixth sense and of signs but lately he's really been missing the mark. Which really sucks because signs was an absolute masterpiece.
The Harrisville Haunting: The Real Conjuring House (2022)
The Eric Connor Show
This dude is an absolute joke. He tried so dang hard to make this whole thing about him. He's loud and obnoxious and ruins this whole documentary.
The camera movements and sound in this documentary are so horrible that there's no way any of their "debunking" can be taken seriously.
Why can't someone with all this equipment actually do a good job?
I get that no one wants to watch a show where nothing happens but I also don't want to watch a show where all of it is made up.
This whole thing is a joke. Stick to your YouTube channels. And in the future keep Eric out of it. He really just ruins the whole thing.
Evil Dead Rise (2023)
Zero entertainment, all disgusting
Let me start off by saying that I am a horror movie buff. I absolutely love all things spooky and scary. But this is one of the worst pieces of cinema I have ever had the misfortune to sit through.
Blood and gore is one thing and can sometimes really make a movie. But the lengths that the creators of this film went to to disgust their viewers is above and beyond.
We need more movies that are actually scary and not just disgusting. This definitely misses the mark.
I recommend skipping it altogether. If you absolutely have to go see it just to say that you have, then definitely skip out on the snacks.
Slumberland (2022)
Would've been so great except...
SPOILER ALERTS
So this would've been absolutely fantastic except for one major thing.
The visuals in this movie were absolutely fantastic.
Jason Momoa gives Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice vibes and it was fantastic.
The little girl that played Nemo did such a great job. It was an exciting adventure throughout.
HOWEVER. The fact that Flip is her Uncle is just absolutely stupid. How could Phillip be awake and still be dreaming at the same time. It makes no sense and actually kind of ruins the entire story for me.
Would've been a 9 out of 10 except for that one major plot hole that ruins the whole thing.
