Andor (2022– )
6/10
Slow pacing and to many characters make the slow forgettable
6 January 2023
Star Wars "Andor'' is the prequel to "Rogue One a Star Wars story" that follows Cassian Andor's life during the spark of rebellion.

"Andor '' Is very well made production wise. Lucasfilm chose real life sets for this show, unlike "The Mandalorian" or "Obi wan" which both used the new dome screen technology. It's great to finally have a Star Wars show that is up in runtime too. Each episode is about 50 minutes and makes it feel like a real show.

But with these improvements from other shows, it sadly has a huge problem with its pacing. The story is very boring to say the least and has too many characters. It's always good to have new characters to further the plot, but many of them are unlikable and don't seem to have a reason in the show, other than to lengthen the run time. With a 50 minute runtime for each of the 12 episodes, the show can really drag at times. There are countless scenes where characters chat for long periods of time and it doesn't even help to further the plot.

Sadly, in the end the show is very forgettable to me. There are some great moments, but with so many slow scenes and unlikable characters it's just no fun. And maybe that's the reason for all this bad Star Wars content right now. Star Wars used to be fun. Likable characters with a fun plot of good versus evil. Simple even. Lucasfilm is complicating Star Wars and changing it from the childhood innocence that George Lucus intended. Maybe the days of good Star Wars content are gone for good. Somewhere in a galaxy far far away.

The God of Thunder Returns
20 July 2022
Thor Love and Thunder continues Thor's story after "Endgame" as he seeks to find meaning in his chaotic life. When Gorr "The God Butcher" starts killing all of the gods of the universe Thor must put together a team to destroy Gorr along with his magic Necrosword.

The movie, Directed by Taika Waititi (Thor Ragnarok) is filled with many jokes and is overall intended to be a fun film. Taika's humor is filled left and right throughout the film, but surprisingly he adds a bit of heart as well. Gorr is a well written character and is played wonderfully by Christopher Nolan who delivers a believable and creepy villain. With all the films so far none has given Thor a good ending. The movie created a perfect surprising ending that just works really well for Thor's character.

Unfortunately the film is far from perfect. Some of the jokes tend to fall flat when pushing a little too hard for a laugh. For a film that the whole family should enjoy, there is quite a bit of unneeded content as well. The story line was good but we've seen Thor so many times it can feel kinda bland.

Marvel seems to be at a stand still. Ever since it reached its peak with endgame it seems the storytelling has been quickly falling apart. Love and Thunder is definitely one of the better Thor movies but at times it can be just plain meh. Unpredictable. Kinda like thunder itself.

Is this the show your looking for?
29 June 2022
Ten years after the events of "Revenge of the Sith" on the desert Tatooine, Obi-Wan lives a slow life as he keeps watch over young Luke Skywalker. But when events occur involving the Inquisitors, Obi-Wan must re-awake his Jedi ways to save Princess Leia and confront the ever powerful Darth Vader.

The show works well in following the story of Obi-Wan and keeps you intrigued as every episode goes by. It does well in showing us new characters as well as a bunch of familiar ones. Filled with action there are some great epic scenes between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan that any Star Wars fan will enjoy.

Although it's a good show it does have some issues. I've noticed a trend with some Star Wars shows/movies. The writing. At times Lucasfilm decides to make a project just because a character is popular, when there isn't a good story idea to tell. Take "Solo" or "The Book Of Boba Fett '' both which had big story issues. Sometimes no matter how good a character, there just is no story left to tell. Obi-Wan has a few plot issues, and Reva's character seemed a bit forced at times. (no pun intended) Not everything is explained, leaving viewers to guess, which is not always a good thing.

Out of all the Star Wars shows so far this one has a more movie-like feel. It keeps a good pace and thankfully stays away from filler episodes. It's by no means perfect, but as a whole I would recommend it to all my fellow Star Wars fans out there.

A Missed Opportunity
3 June 2022
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness continues the story of Stephen Strange, as threats concerning the Multiverse unfold. Is this a worthy sequel of the first Strange installment, or is it just pure madness?

The Movie itself is visually great. With cool action sequences and plenty of magic spells it seems that Marvel spent time on making the movie look good. Directed by Sam Raimi the film has plenty of Horror vibes and it's plain to see that's the way Marvel intended it. The main issue of the movie comes with the plot. At times it doesn't seem like the story knows which way its heading. The story idea overall was intriguing, but I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed as I left the theater.

After game changing films like "Infinity War" and "Endgame", and the most recent "Spiderman No Way Home" it's hard to settle for a story that isn't quite as significant. For something as huge as the Multiverse I figured Marvel Studios would have leapt at the opportunity to dive deep into the complexity and Madness of this new world. Yet the plot focused on a story that in the end doesn't lead us not very far into story building. Maybe a little more madness and creativity would have made this a better movie. It's one of those films that just could have used a bit more movie magic.

Dune (2021)
4/10
Irritating, Like Sand Inself
15 March 2022
"Dune", based on the 1965 book by the same name, has been attempted before. When the 1984 movie didn't do so well Dune was left alone for many years. This time Warner Brothers has taken the helm to try to make a movie worthy of Frank Herbert's book.

The movie has great actors, and is made visually well, but too many issues make Dune a failure in my book. The story can be very difficult to follow and the film takes to much time explaining the world of Dune, that this two and a half hour movie seems more like a history lesson then a actual story. And the little bits of story we do get are just round and round storylines that make no sense. Granted this is just part one, and there will be another movie coming out. But I was left so unsatisfied at the end of the film, that I don't even want to bother with part two.

The best part of the movie was the main character Paul. He was an interesting and engaging character that I enjoyed watching. But the film pushed him to the side to focus on world building instead of its characters. And let's face it. No one wants to see two and a half hours of a sandy planet with little to no action. After watching the movie I still don't know the reason for any of it.

Like the sandy planet in the movie itself, this film is just too dusty and irritating.

The Marksman (2021)

Does The Marksman hit the Target?
13 March 2022
"The Marksman" starring Liam Neeson, centers around a retired marine, who lives his life on a farm near the Mexican border. He soon meets a young Mexican boy who has crossed the border and is fleeing a group of dangerous cartel. Bringing him to relatives in Chicago will be anything but easy.

The Marksman as a whole is a good movie. The story is entertaining and heartfelt, focusing on Jim and Megauls Journey dodging danger at every turn. Great acting, and story make this movie worth a watch.

That being said, some people might be disappointed. The movie is marketed as Action/Thriller which is not what this film is. Sure there's violence and plenty of gun fights, but the movie focuses on the relationship of the characters as they make their journey. I think that's partly the reason the film didn't get many good reviews. Too many people walk into the theater wanting to be entertained by nonstop action which this movie isn't.

The Marksman is a good film about helping others no matter what. Even if it doesn't come as a benefit to you. I would recommend.

The Book of Boba Fett (2021–2022)

The Dreams of Boba Fett
4 March 2022
A few years back, there were plans to make a Boba fett movie. When "Solo" crashed at the box office, stand alone star wars movies were put on hold. Lucasfilm tried a new direction. Star Wars shows. When season one and two of "The Mandalorian" became a hit, many more shows were announced. Including the most recent to air, "The Book of Boba fett"

The show takes place after season two of "The Mandalorian" but often shows Boba fett dreaming in a boca tank to "cleverly" show us his past. Besides for a 30 second scene of escaping from the Sarlacc, we waste the first three episodes walking in the sand and talking to the Sand People. Even though episode 4 is loads better (and could have easily started the show with this episode) Your burnt out from all the Slow moving Banthas, that only a true fan can manage to continue.

And then the last three episodes happen. It's great exiting, fun, Star wars at its best. You think to yourself "The show is saved! This is the Boba fett show I wanted" And then you realize that the best episodes of the show have nothing to do with Boba Fett. That the show has suddenly turned into the Mandalorian.

So is the "Book of Boba fett" good? No. Not at all. Skip it. Watching a old man sleep in a bacta tank, and riding a bantha in his long johns isn't very fun.

What about The Mandalorian season 2 and a half?(Which is the last three episodes of the so called book of boba fett) Is it any good? Yes. It's amazing.

Loki (2021–2023)

Could have been good.
15 December 2021
For me the Loki show started off on egg shells. The first few episodes weren't that great. A little slow and too confusing to fully enjoy. But then it got more into Loki's redemption and I began to start enjoying it. The whole TVA plot was was to much for me but I wanted to keep watching because of the good characters. Then came the final episode, ending on a cliff hanger, leaving the TVA to be the plot of yet another season. By this point I've given up and just want to see something different. Good characters wasted.

Not worth a rewatch
13 December 2021
The show started out fun and clever. Diving deeper into to Sam and Bucky's characters and introducing some unique Villains. As the show continued though, it started to get preachy. Throwing political and racial views at us left and right. The final decision to make someone a new Captain America, felt kinda dumb and blah in my opinion. With Steve Rodgers gone, I think Captain America should be too. Some things just have to end or new things will never begin.

A fun sequel to Iron Man
4 October 2021
The second Iron Man movie is a great sequel. It introduces some new characters and adds more Iron-man fun that we got in the first film. As always Marvel does a good job in making there movies funny and exciting. The movie is not as original as the first film, but It's still a worthy sequel.

Good... but not great.
8 January 2021
This movie wasn't Pixar's best. I thought it was confusing and a little weird. It had a great massage and was funny, but just not like the others Disney has made over the years.

It's Tom Hanks, what else can I say?
8 January 2021
Tom Hanks did a excellent job in this movie just like he always does. Although it was a little slow in the beginning it got better as it went on. It's a good western with a good story, and I'm satisfied with the way it turned out. We need more movies like this where we can be entertained and uplifted at the same time.

Do not waste your time on this movie!
7 January 2021
This is by far the worst movie I have seen in my life! And believe me I've seen some pretty cringe-worthy low budget movies. I don't know how to explain this movie except by saying it was completely and utterly TRASH! The plot made no since whatsoever, and neither did the characters. By the end of the movie my brain was spinning I was completely confused! TRASH! TRASH! TRASH!
