Much Better Than I thought-A Really Nice Love Story
13 November 2012
When this movie first came on, the somewhat cheesy text that represented the "truth" gave me the impression that the movie would be sub-par at best. However, soon after, I actually liked the idea of the subtitles and became used to it with no trouble. I was quickly caught up in this realistic story or a real life super hero (in her own way). The main actress was cute, I felt for her and the story in general was quite beautiful. To the writer of this movie..for some reason it made me feel as if I was reading a fanfiction that I never wanted to put down. The chemistry between all the actors, excellent. Sure, i could def. tell this was shot on a budget and some of the actresses left a lot to be desired but story itself, fantastic. I've actually gone through a similar situation with an ex and his best friend so I guess this resonated a bit more for me. This just shows you how "real" a story like this is and I give much koodos to everyone involved. I think I will buy this and keep it as a staple in my romantic comedy library. Well worth it!

A waste of my intellect and money
27 May 2012
I must say I was looking for something much more. This was just Dull! Without the obvious dynamic chemistry between the two lead actors...i think I would have stopped watching this movie well before half way through the movie. There could have been so much more involved in this movie. I understand that it was based on a true story...however, even this is a bit unbelievable. The concept is not..but the way everything happens..i doubt a true story would have been so perfectly packaged. Instead of basing this on a true story, why not take the basis of the story, which was memory loss...and run with with. It almost feel like I was just getting into the story and it stopped. I feel a bit cheated actually..If it wasn't for Channing Tatum's occasional booty/chest shot..i would have just turned this mess off! Not even cheesy...I could have dealt with that...The actors were good..the writing left a heck of a lot to be desired.

"Over the Top" ....
18 March 2012
As a child of the 80's AND a huge action movie lover, I got the best of both worlds while watching this movie. As I mentioned in the title of my review, Over The Top is the first movie I thought of as the credits rolled by. This movie was so much like my fav. Stallion movie from the 80's that I had to revisit the story line a few times to make sure they just did not substitute a "arm wrestling" with a "robot". In the end, it seems that since this movie is based on a short story that was written in the 60's, it could not just be a remake of the classic 80's movie so just MAYBE Over the Top used snippets of this short story to create the Stallon movie...who knows. All I DO know is that this movie has it all...action, drama, humor and sci-fi all wrapped up into a enjoyable movie that the whole family should enjoy. I did not want to look away..the action followed well, the drama was not too intense and the story line was believable enough that Im starting to wondering WHEN exactly we will see ROBOT boxing in our future.. They often say inventions are based on movies and TV right? Well, when Robert boxing starts...i will be there for sure thanks to this movie! Loved it and its well worth the money you spend on it. Its a keeper..kinda like an Ironman or a Spiderman movie. Get this one! Cant wait to #2 comes out in 2014.

Only worth it if you did not get your fill watching UFC last night...

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I AM A MMA fan and I also fight. (female fighter btw). Anyway, Mixed Martial Arts Movies are not always the best and this was one more bad movie to add to the file. However,I must confess, the action and fight scenes in the movie did have me cringing. Cringing in a good way because they were very believable and real. Its not surprising that REAL fighters were used and most did not seem to be pulling punches either. By pulling punches, I just mean, they were not stunt choreographed fight scenes where "pretend" punches and kicks were placed. Sure, some of them HAD to be faked but most...were not. That was the ONE cool thing about this movie. Besides this, the camera angles were HORRIBLE and the acting just as bad. The HD camera being used to film this wasn't so bad but the editing sucked and these things combines made the look of the film cheap and hard to watch. After about 25 mins...you really just want to turn the sad thing off! I would not pay money to rent this nor would i watch it on TV for more than the aforementioned time frame. Might be worth it if you are doing a bit of training on the side and just want to pick up some super cool street fighting moves...lol:P

Wish I could go to Cuba right now...if only for a moment
1 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This doc literally made me cry. Although I caught it towards the middle of the program, I found it heartfelt and also made me disappointed in our health care system. I could not believe the story of the lady who was paid 5cents for an item should would have spent more than a hundred dollars for in the U.S. I can relate as I have been without a medication that although is not a necessity, would make my way of life a lot better. All because it cost $130 for a one month supply. I called my boyfriend this morning who work as a medic in the U.S army to let him know that I would like to go to Cuba one day just to see if there is something we can do for a country who gives so freely to others in need.

One thing about living in a country such as Cuba that was NOT hit on in the documentary was that although they might recv free health care in places like Cuba, there are still not many more places on this earth that gives you as many opportunities as the U.S. I lived in Brazil were meds. cost almost nothing (not quite as cheap as the ones in Cuba). The downside of this was, the country was filled poverty and corruption. I wish this doc focused, if only for a moment at the negative points on countries such as this one...not just on the fact that the health care system was supreme.

The most important thing about this touching movie was that there were 100% right about our American Health Care system. It is very much flawed and it hurts me to see how so many have suffered that really have no need to.
