Like the bombing of Dresden or the great flood of Hamburg, the sinking of the Pamir gives the background for a 3 hour German TV production. The usual love story, the usual bad guy, the usual heroes. The plot is not historically correct, more fiction than facts. The sinking of the Pamir was a real event, 80 sailors died. They should have used a fictional ship for a fictional story. The producers tried very hard to include something for everybody and the result is a bad compromise. The weather on the outside scenes and even the special effects storm sequences almost never fits the situation. Why still 4 out of 10? Because most of the actors deliver a good performance. If you want to see a wet movie try "Das Boot" or "Perfect Storm" and don't waste your time with "Pamir".

Electric Light Orchestra: Zoom Tour Live
(2001 Video)
genius at work
16 January 2003
ELO mastermind Jeff Lynne is accompanied by excellent musicians who seem to enjoy their job. Many of the classics and a lot of songs from the "zoom" album. Recorded in a TV Studio, picture quality and 5.1 dolby sound are very good. If you´re a fan you will love it.
Freispiel
(1995)
sad, very austrian comedy

I give this movie 7 points. Although it has its lengths I liked the characters and the destructive sense of humour as the story develops. I can understand if younger people think it is boring. Maybe the fun only comes through when you´re getting closer to your own "midlife crisis". But then it is terribly funny...
