The Acolyte: Revenge/Justice (2024)
Still good, but major issues remains
Before starting the review I will address a mistake from what I write on the previous episode. I was talking about Mae and not Osha.
Now Osha is teaming up with her old master and his team. If I'm being honest with you, none of these characters feel interesting, but it's not the point I guess. My other main grip is the lighting, why is it so dark ?
I also see what happens with Amandla Stenberg's acting (my bad for the typo on her name in my last review). She's pretty good when it comes to Osha but when it comes to Mae she clearly does too much.
The pacing was much better. It feels less rushed, but still keeps you entertained. It has what Andor lacked, meaning good pacing.
So overall it was still good but I know what this show will become (and I hope I will be proven wrong). It's the type of show I will enjoy while watching and forget about it right after it ends. I don't expect greatness, and I don't have it. However, it's still enjoyable.
The Acolyte: Lost/Found (2024)
Better than expected
This was better than expected. Like WAAAAAAAAY better. I've been a Star Wars fan for years, but let's say I've lost interest in almost everything they've done since the insult that was Episode 9. I enjoyed Mando season 1 and 2, even if s3 was a disappointing mess. Andor, even if critically acclaimed pretty much bored me, so much that I didn't even finish it. I tried to watch Boba Fett but the pilot was so bad that I ended up giving up (and only watched the two Mando related episodes). Didn't even watch Ahsoka and Kenobi was mostly forgettable. So yeah, let's say I wasn't very hyped for this.
Now let's get my grips out of the way. The acting is hit or miss. I mostly like Amanda Stenberg but she sometimes does a bit too much. The other actors are fine. I do also think the pacing is a bit rushed. There's a lot happening in little time and there are a couple inconsistencies here and there (could the Jedi at the beginning not sense Osha can use the force ?)
The cinematography is your average Disney+ show but even worse making it look increasingly more like a CW show. I had the same issue with the Percy Jackson show even if I had a great time watching that one.
The plot feels kinda cliché, it's nothing new but guess what ? I'll take something cliché but that does actually work than an over complicated plot that loses itself. The dialogue is....... eh. It's sometimes really cringe.
The choreography is pretty great, as usual with the recent SW content. It's maybe the best part of the show.
Overall I'm engaged enough. I don't get the low ratings (or actually I do get it knowing the SW fandom). Let's hope it gets better even if knowing Disney, it's probably gonna get worse. Let's hope I'm wrong though.

9-1-1: All Fall Down (2024)
Interesting episode, but not that great finale
That was a fine episode, but I don't know if it really works as a finale. It certainly felt rushed and should have been a two-parter. I just feel like Athena was a bit off-character but that's fine.
The season itself is fine. ABC gave this show a bit of fresh air after two previous seasons that were pretty stale to say the least. They don't have everything right (the whole Eddie-Kim plot line felt super off-character for him), but at least you know, they try. One thing they also don't have right are the emergencies. It's supposed to be a show about first responders, and we've barely had any this season, so fix that for next time.
ABC also single handedly this show's biggest problem: Buck. Let's hope they don't mess it up next season but it's a pretty big achievement to make this character consistent after how butchered he constantly was by Fox. The whole arc of him figuring out his sexuality is also great, and makes the character evolve a bit.
The Henren / Mara storyline was maybe the best thing this whole season, and I think Mara is genuinely a great addition to the show. I don't have many things to say about the others. It was a better season than season 5 and 6. Let's hope season 8 keeps it that way.
High School Musical: The Musical - The Series: HSM v. HSM (2023)
We're back at it
I'm not gonna review every episode of this season but here we go.
Where should I start with this show ? I know this isn't the greatest thing ever, but it's still a lot of fun to watch, and this episode is no exception.
It's so unserious i even forgot it was coming out. Anyways.
I prefered the premiere over this one. And it's maybe the best premiere the show had. Knowing it's the final season, I'm scared of what they're gonna pull. Season 1 was great, season 2 not much. And the season 3 was great only in its second half.
First of all the character dynamics are still here, you see the actors still have chemistry even if they're not as enthusiastic as they used to be. The episode itself is fine, it's typical from this show but I still have a few gripes.
It seems the show has totally forgotten about EJ. He was never the main character but he was still important right ? But it seems like no one even remembers him. It's a shame but not so much. This show never knew to write him correctly. He was always seen as a simple love interest when he could have been much more.
Then it feels like the writers are running out of ideas. I'm sensing a love triangle here. They already did that, multiple times. Can't you just leave your couples alone ?
Also I would like to say, but it doesn't feel much like a final season so far. Maybe it will pick up at some point. I'm still happy this show is back but I'm scared where this is going.
Secret Invasion: Resurrection (2023)
Skeptical
I can't believe I'm about to watch this. I promised myself I wouldn't be hyped for any future MCU project, but I guess we're here. I had little to no hype going into this.
First of all, I'm kinda happy to see Samuel L Jackson back as Nick Fury. We haven't seen him since Far From Home, and he was missing in Phase 4.
I'm also glad to see Emilia Clarke. But now Marvel, don't pull an Oscar Isaac on us, and ruin a great actor with some awful writing. Actually, the acting was never the issue with the MCU.
Also, I want to point out the improvements of « Secret Invasion ». Firstly, we don't have cheesy jokes every thirty seconds. The show looks like it takes itself seriously. Also, it has a darker and grittier vibe, and I like it. It also looks bloodier (Blood in the MCU ?!?! WOAH).
The show is rather slow paced, so it will be hit or miss. It's only 6 episodes so it's pretty much a challenge. I hope it will pick up at some point, because it will be rushed.
Now that I've given my fair share of compliments, let's talk about the main problème here... the story. It's not that interesting, and Marvel Studios literally did a similar story in 2021 with « Falcon and The Winter Soldier ». Also, it is not that engaging, none of the new characters feel interesting. The only stuff we care about are the characters we already know about.
About the plot twist, it's definitely a twist. I can't say it's good. It comes out from nowhere, and idk how it will be useful to the plot, but we'll see I guess.
So yeah, there is some progress basically even if there is nothing new. It is mostly your typical MCU formula. Now you're gonna ask me if it is good. The only thing I can say is not really. I found myself being bored multiple times through the episode. But it's only the first episode, so it has room for improvement.
6/10.
Superman & Lois: What Kills You Only Makes You Stronger (2023)
S&L proves its greatness once again
It's hard to believe this show is made by the CW right ? It actually respects its viewers, and this episode proved it once again.
This show achieves everything other CW show has failed at, mixing superhero and family drama. The Flash tried that, and failed. Arrow also tried and also failed. But what's the difference between S&L and the other two ? The side characters are actually interesting.
I see a lot of people on IMDb complaining about the fact there is too much family drama. Just a reminder, this show is called "Superman AND Lois", so of course Lois is gonna be a main character.
Lois having cancer was the biggest part of the season, and they handled it perfectly. They made us feel worried the whole season. And again, they achieved what Arrow failed at, with Felicity not being able to walk again in season 4 (as much as I love this show, I'd rather forget about the snoozefest season 4 was). It could also be compared to Iris time sickness in The Flash season 7 and 8. But unlike Barry, Clark actually cares about Lois.
FINALLY, we are done with Jordan and Sarah. I've been praising this show but this was honestly the only thing that annoyed me. It reminds that this is a CW show. Also, can we stop with the focus on Jordan ? I know he is supposed to be Superboy but he has been acting like a whiny and spoiled kid since the beginning.
Jonathan's new actor is surprisingly better than the previous one. I was skeptical at first but he won me, I'll admit.
Now let's talk about the biggest part of the episode: Luthor, Clark and Bizarro.
Firstly, Tyler Hoechlin proved he is the best Superman we might have seen EVER. Don't get me wrong, I love Cavil's take on Superman, but he is better as an injustice Superman. Hoechlin managed to encapsulates everything that makes the character.
Then the actor who plays Luthor is great. Even if he doesn't feel much like a Lex Luthor, he is still menacing and smart enough.
Spoiler alert: Bizarro is Doomsday here, and I see what the writers have done here. Remember in season 2 when we all thought Bizarro was Doomsday, they literally did it now ! Doomsday CGI's is AMAZING. The fact that this show's CGI manages to be better than any recent blockbuster is mindblowing. He looks menacing enough and maybe even better than the one we've had in BvS (but this movie was a snoozefest so it's maybe why). The transformation from Bizarro to Doomsday is amazing, and I found myself feeling surprisingly worried for him, since he had a redemption arc in season 2. It is also surprisingly violent and bloody for this show, and I hope they keep it that way in season 4. The fight between Clark and Doomsday might be the best fight we've had in the whole show.
The cliffhanger made me mad, but in the best way and I'm glad it was renewed for a fourth season. Now, let's be honest I'm scared. I know the CW has an habit of messing up their fourth season in one way or another, so I don't out as much trust in them as I should.
10/10.
The Flash: A New World, Part 4: Finale (2023)
Disappointing and rushed... as expected
That was..... the most expected thing we could have planned. After the last two episodes, I knew for a fact this would be rushed. A lot of things don't make sense, let's talk about it.
The episode started where we left last week. Eddie accepted the crystal and every speedster Barry had to fight throughout the show came back. It's not a bad idea, and I was honestly hyped for this when they announced it, but I forgot who was writing this. To me, this final arc should have, at least, had one more episode to bring everyone back. I like the references, but the execution was just messy.
This team of speedster is made of Cobalt Blue, Zoom, Reverse Flash (Wells version), Savitar and unfortunately Godspeed. The first thing we have to point out here is that Barry only fought Cobalt Blue. If you bring back everyone, at least make Barry fight everyone at the same time to really show how fast he has become in 9 seasons. But it didn't happen.
Godspeed and his clones were handled by Cecile. How come a speedster AND HIS CLONES get destroyed by a non-speedster. Even Barry in season 7 needed help to fight him. At least, he didn't look as goofy as in this previous season. Also, how the HELL does Cecile fly ? They never explained that, and we've never seen it.
Now let's talk about Zoom, and how bad they made the character. They ruined my favorite villain from this show, what a shame. How do you stop against an army of police officers ? You literally killed a whole squadron back in season 2, can't you do that now ? I guess no. Then it's the same problem as with Godspeed. How did Khione react to his lightning ? I guess it's just the CW. And again, Chillblaine (or should I call him Chill-lame like Damien Dahrk during Armageddon) was useless.
Then Savitar getting defeated by Nora actually makes sense to me. Since she's born in 2023 and that she comes from 2049, she's actually older than her dad when he defeated him. I also believe Barry and Iris trained her her whole life. So it's not totally illogical. And I liked the reference to season 3 and the parallel with her mother's « death ».
The last scene with Reverse Flash, the show's iconic villain, was getting defeated... BY ALLEGRA ?!?. I know we already had a « fight » in 9x10 but it was still disappointing. I thought RF was fast enough to react to her. It again shows the inconsistency of the writing.
Now let's talk about the big part of the episode, Barry vs Cobalt Blue. First of all, the CGI this episode wasn't too bad. However, Cobalt Blue's running was goofy. The fight in the negative speed force was kinda cool, but again, rushed. They also brought back the Speech Force for the last episode. Cobalt Blue taking everyone's speed was also not a bad idea, but ONCE AGAIN, it was rushed and wasted.
Now you're gonna ask me, after absolutely trashing this episode, how the hell you rated it a 5/10. It couldn't be rated any lower for the last 15 minutes, which were wholesome and actually respected the viewers. I think every fan of this show got emotional watching these last minutes. But even these last minutes were far from perfect. I know Carlos Valdes couldn't be here for the show but they didn't even reference him. Where the hell Wally and Diggle also are ?
I'm happy with Caitlin being back. Her coming back actually made a bit of sense. Also, it might be a nitpick but there is no way a NEWBORN is that big. You could at least have taken a baby that was younger
Overall, it was a disappointing finale. This review is long enough already so I will give my opinion on this show in the global review. I thank everyone for making this show that was with me through middle school, high school and further. Thanks Grant Gustin, Candice Patton and everyone else for their amazing acting. I thank everyone except the writers which created a chore these last few years. Thanks for making us discover amazing heroes and villains. For these reasons, thank you for everything (almost) The Flash.
The Flash: Partners in Time (2023)
OH. MY. GOODNESS
This show finds new ways to be bad every week. This felt like a bad Legends of Tomorrow episode. Speaking of LOT, Eric Wallace actually never wanted to give the show a conclusion on The Flash, since we've had three pointless episodes in a row.
I don't know where to start. This felt like a sitcom episode. And again it feels like the writers lack inspiration since this is the third time this season Barry or Iris are stuck somewhere. But actually Barry was the main character this week. This is already an improvement. Then I will not even bother review the rest of the episode... because there is nothing to review. Between Barry revealing his identity to complete strangers (even if it was cancelled later in the episode), the absolutely awful villains, the pointless flashbacks for stuff that happened two episodes ago and the cringey dialogue, it felt a lot,
At this point I'm just looking forward to the next episode. And someone on IMDB seriously needs to change the airing date because people are already rating it. Anyway: 2/10.
The Flash: Wildest Dreams (2023)
Well... I actually liked this. I can't believe it:
Yes, this was probably the most logical and less nonsensical writing they gave us so far this season. Don't get me wrong, it's still a filler episode, and Barry is barely in it. I'm not gonna repeat myself saying it's bs to have so many filler episodes in your last season but it's the CW, and Eric Wallace and it seems like they don't care about what the fans want, unlike Todd Helbing who actually learned from his mistakes with S&L.
Now let's talk about the episode. First of all, I will congratulate Candice Payton for her acting tonight. I always felt she barely had no occasion to show it off because of how her character was written. The fact that the writers wrote Iris better than Barry this whole season is not even disappointing, because we expect that from the CW. And guess what, we actually had a bit of character development from Iris with the whole article thing, and I liked it.
I never watched Supergirl fully so I didn't know Dreamer / Nia, but her character looked interesting, and it's a shame we haven't seen her powers more.
The plot itself isn't too complicated, but I'd rather have that that some complicated stuff the writers can't handle.
However, there is still a bunch of stuff we don't care about: Khione and Mark's relationship and Cecile. But we say that every week so I'm not gonna repeat myself.
Anyway, this was quite enjoyable, but I feel I shouldn't have liked it this much. I would've hated this if the previous episodes didn't exist. This was decent.
7/10.
Gotham Knights: Under Pressure (2023)
Finally getting somewhere
Let's say I'm pretty much impressed about how good this was. I had my fair share of criticism on the first two episodes and it feels like it's getting better. I didn't review last week's episode because most of my criticism on the pilot were still there, even if it was a slight improvement
The whole Mutant thing was actually interesting. And the actors / villains were actually convincing. The acting seems better too, especially at the end of the episode, which was quite heartfelt. The hostage situation wasn't the best we've seen from the CW but they actually found a way to make it interesting.
Overall I'd say this was a pretty good episode. But my hopes aren't too high since I know who makes this. They're probably gonna mess this up in the next few episodes.
Feeling a 8/10.
The Flash: The Good, the Bad and the Lucky (2023)
Might be the single worst episode of The Flash ever
What the hell did I just watch ? I had to watch this at 1.5x speed. I just feel like the writers don't learn from their mistakes. Just remember the last time Barry and Iris left for a whole episode... it gave us 7x14 « Rayo de Luz » aka the worst rated episode of the Flash ever. But I have a feeling this one is worse.
The best part of the episode has nothing to do with the episode at all... because it is how beautiful Iris is looking... anyways.
The rest felt like a mix between 4x3, 7x13 and 7x14. The episode felt like a comedy but two problems come here: all of the humor falls short. And also, you don't do a comedy episode for the last season of the show. We've already wasted one episode that could have been used for the last arc. The plot was boring and uninteresting. The CGI was ok. And worst part of it... the dialogue... MY GOODNESS. It made the Gotham Knights pilot look like an absolute masterpiece.
This show manages to fail everything they try to do. They couldn't even pull a Legends If Tomorrow if they tried. At this point I don't even have any hope for the rest of the season. Just kill this show with fire now.
Gotham Knights: Pilot (2023)
Ok... i guess
The pilot was quite mediocre, but at the end there is still some potential. I wasn't convinced seeing the trailers and this episode didn't convince me much more, but here we go.
First of all let's see what I liked in the episode:
The plot isn't too bad, however, it feels recycled. The acting is ok for most actors but I think most of the actors are starting so I can't really blame them. I also remember "Naomi" from last year where the acting got increasingly better, even if the show was boring. The highlight was Harvey Dent's portrayal, and it's maybe the best part of the episode.
Then, I like the portrayal of Gotham City here. It isn't as good as in the "Gotham" tv show but it's definitely better than "Batwoman" which looks like an offbrand Star City.
Also, spoiler alert, but the effects for the head at the end were ok. It doesn't look as cheap as some other CW effects (like the Eobard Thawne head ripping in The Flash season 8).
Last thing that I liked, or at least that got me intrigued is the portrayal of Robin. We haven't had much backstory in the episode so I hope to see more in the upcoming ones.
Now let's see what I didn't like.
First of all, Bruce Wayne's death here is stupid and cliche. The writers could have found a a better death than falling through a window (but it's The CW writers so we're all used to it).
Then let's say one thing, most of the characters here are absolutely bland and uninteresting outside of Dent and their version of Robin. Yes I know it's a pilot but Arrow, Flash, S&L and even Naomi's pilot episodes got me more interested in the characters only in their pilot episodes. It really feels like some reused characters and they lack personality so far.
The dialogue is sometimes abysmal, but again it's a CW show so what do I expect ? "This is blood money" like you didn't know what you were doing ?
Then how does a bunch of teenagers take down a trained officers ? I know it's not meant to be realistic but there are limits to this.
Last thing, the suits look cheap. However it isn't as bad as some other CW suits (e.g Red Death).
Overall it was a mediocre / ok pilot episode. There was some good stuff and I feel that there is a potential. But I shouldn't forget who makes this and how bad CW shows can become sometimes.
5/10.
The Flash: The Mask of the Red Death, Part 1 (2023)
On the right path...
Before reviewing the episode, I want to address something. Please stop rating the episodes before it has even aired. It's pointless and not interesting.
Now let's talk about the episode. As my title suggests, this show is on the right path... to have a worse last season than Game Of Thrones. This was a mess and probably one of the worst episodes this show has ever had. Because nothing made sense... NOTHING. Or it was just boring.
First of all... the speech force is back. They quite forgot about it in season 8 but it seems like it's back. Barry trying to pep talk Red Death was ridiculous and almost funny. But if he doesn't do that, the episode can't happen i guess. And the special effects were awful (I mean we are used to it so I don't know what I expect)
The whole cosmic treadmill thing is not a bad idea but wait... didn't they already do that in season 2? Last week was a copy of « Infantino Street » in season 3. And now we're doing a copy of a season 2 episode ? I guess they are so lost in their own show they copy what they already did.
I mean the whole thing about Chillblaine switching sides was also pointless. If he is still alive (which I hope not), he will switch teams again in two episodes (the fight between him and the villains wasn't too bad ).
Then, don't get me wrong, I liked Batwoman and I like Javicia, but the acting as Red Death was bad. I didn't remember her being this bad in Batwoman. And her acting when talking to Iris wasn't bad so I'm confused. In terms of acting, Candice Patton was the highlight of the episode.
Then there is a bunch of stuff we don't care about: Joe and Cecile moving, Allegra and Chester's relationship. But I guess it's The Flash, we are use to useless stuff in this show.
I'm not having any hope for the rest of the season. 3/10 (and I'm generous)
The Flash: Rogues of War (2023)
Meh. So much meh
This episode was better than last week, but not by a mile. First of all let's see what I liked in this. I was glad to see all the characters they brought back (I might be one of the only persons liking Goldface here). Then I'm also glad they brought Javicia and Ryan back to give a proper ending to her character. But this leads us to a problem now. The CW doesn't have the rights to use the Batman character. A lot of people are complaining about it but they just can't use him, so they used Batwoman, which is not a bad idea. But I would have liked the CW to go further with their idea. This is why using the « I am Vengeance » line felt off. And how she said it wasn't great. Then about the rest of the episode, most of it felt like filler. Don't tell me they couldn't have done better, since they did Season 3's « Infantino Street » which is the same type of episode. Overall I'm starting to be scared for this season. If season 8 (which wasn't bad) is better than this one, it's gonna be a waste.
The Flash: Hear No Evil (2023)
Boring
This episode was simply boring. The fact that this arc is five episodes long and that they already wasted two is really frustrating (and from what i've seen in the promo, the next one will not go further). I understand they didn't want to start from the first episode which I pretty much enjoyed (it's actually pretty normal from my point of view). And I just feel this show barely learns from its mistakes. Stop focusing on some characters we don't care about, like Chillblaine. And I don't know why they killed off Caitlin just to add a new character (I'm still looking forward to see what they will do with Khione). However, I'm still happy to see Hartley back. And Barry actually didn't get destroyed by the meta of the week (which is just a copy of what we've already had in season 4)
Giving this a 2/10.
Naomi: Don't Believe Everything You Think (2022)
Promising start
The first episode is pretty cool. It's nothing groundbreaking but it's enough to keep me interested. I still don't understand where all the bad reviews comes from and why are people saying that politics are involved when there is nothing political...
Still a promising start. I will tune in for the rest of the season.
The Flash: The Speed of Thought (2021)
Really good episode
This episode was better than the whole season 6. This is what I expect from this show.
