Just Awful Everything
11 May 2024
A seriously bad film that started out with such promise. Don't watch it , don't waste your time as I did.

So many plot holes, and points that didn't make any sense, 4 seasons in one film, animals acting out of character.

For example why would Rose, supposedly a 13 year old geek from an upper class family, (but looks 20 odd), break in to a huge mansion and then feast on chippies? How would that house not have had significant locks and burglar alarms, especially as it is left for lengthy periods without occupants?

And the boy, repeatedly pulling out his own teeth, just how dumb was he really supposed to be?

Even the father/daughter renting out their house turning up in the middle of the night was never explained. It was just so unlikely and unrealistic. And even worse in a house that amazing how was it that the father has to sleep on the floor? It looked big enough to easily accommodate 6-7 bedrooms all with their own bathrooms.

All of the characters were and acted numbingly stupid and there just wasn't any chemistry.

And it just ended without an ending.

What I do wonder is how the film makers managed to con people in to investing in this awful (and it won't even become a cult film).

And as for a spoiler alert, what's to spoil, nothing actually happens.

$10M To Make This Film
6 April 2024
It is baffling how the producers managed to convince investors to front up with $10M for this poorly concocted, disjointed story. There are so many plot holes and gaps that from when the 'stowaway' falls from the ceiling compartment the only point in watching is to see the absurdity.

Feel very sorry for those both in front and behind the camera, working hard to make this turgid smelly turd in to a shiny space craft.

One aspect that did confuse me is that the concept behind the astronauts problems is that the space agency had made a 2 person ship in to a 3 person without increasing the size. And yet countless scenes showed compartments bigger than my living room.

Another curious writing decision was that in almost all communication with people on earth, we only hear the astronaut's end of the conversations.

Dumb film, watch something else instead.

Poor Plot, Silly Film, Unbelievable Characters
12 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What a silly film. From the opening scenes where a Police Officer nearly has a crash with some cattle, I was wondering is this the KeyStone Cops? And then he finds shoes, brand new of course, and radios the fact in. It's not like there isn't all sorts of garbage on the side of a road. There were so many holes in the plot and inconsistencies. For example:
  • The killers MO was to keep the victim alive for at least a week, yet we're not told anything about what happens during that week. After a week of torture the child is dumped still with her clothes. Yet the second murder was an immediate kill and dump, and the alcoholic profiler doesn't mention this. - Similarly with the attempted third murder, the serial killer is going to kill her straight away and not have a week of fun times with her.

  • A big deal is made of the 16 year old 'secret' shotgun killing, yet Kate blabs about it almost immediately to the profiler. And his reaction, 'oh it was self defence, I'll keep it secret too' because he's hoping to get in to her pants. A real confession, a body and no Police follow up.

  • When she's stood down as the Police Chief she visits the Police Station the following day and has full access to everything, even giving orders, and no one says anything.

And to turn such an interesting story and locality, into a romance was a significant mistake.

Excellent and engaging movie
31 January 2021
Wonderful film, fantastic story, ups and downs of life superimposed as a road trip. Awesome characters. Fast and slow paced. And reality. A wood fire that actually crackled and sparked, not a gas imitation. Characters that looked realistically like they'd just woken up with no apparent makeup and having bad hair days just like normal people. Engrossing back stories, and that bag was a character in its own right. (Ok they had no roof on the car and it never rained or got cold, mmm but it's a movie.) And a truly nice story with a happy ending, cheesy for sure but lovely. Brilliant film, loved every minute.
