Vikram (2022)
Brilliant action thriller from Kamal and Lokesh
Beautifully scripted and done, movie is well worth. Has a great story and Kamal, VJS, and Fahadh killed it. Suriya also does great but that's something you'd have to see in the movie itself. Loved every second of it and ani's bgm rocked it!!
Favorite tamil movie in the last 2 years by FAR. Expecting great things from Lokesh in the future.
Hagane no renkinjutsushi (2009)
The greatest anime next to Attack on Titan I have ever seen
I am the BIGGEST fan of Attack on Titan, but let me just say, that objectively, this anime is 100% how to write a breathtaking story and keep you engaged for its entire duration with lovable characters.
Story: FMAB is about two brothers, one in a suit of armor and another with a metal arm (fullmetal, lol) who embark on a journey to recover their lost bodies after performing the taboo of alchemy. Along the way, they uncover the truth behind the society they're living in.
There's really multiple narratives going on here, but that's the main one. What a story, honestly, I've never seen anything like it. So many lessons in life, that to this day I apply, and is the ONLY anime thus far that has made me shed a tear. Chilling moments throughout.
Music: Best music in anime, period. Akira Senju, you have done it again, and what does a good OST do? It reminds you of the moments in the show when it plays, and almost every OST in this show makes that happen. Soul piercing.
Characters: Ed is a top 3 protagonist of all time. His character development from episode 1 to episode 64 is actually amazing, and there is actually one moment where you can see how much he's truly learned and changed. Absolutely chilling at that moment. The other characters also go significant changes, and the antagonists are so well written you can empathize with them. Make sure you watch Dub, bc this is one of the few anime's where the dub surpasses sub.
Such a complex and intricately woven story with heartful characters and life messages. I loved every minute of this one, doubtful there will ever be a Shonen like this one again. 10/10.
Ghilli (2004)
One of Vijay's best
This is a childhood favorite and I have seen it 37 times now, and counting. Hasn't gotten old and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. So so fun and engaging.
Karnan (2021)
honestly what is this...??
Karnan: The story of nothing. Like honestly, what is in this movie? There is 0 story and no characterization whatsoever. The climax is the worst part of this, some symbolization bs of a woman screaming her head off giving birth for like 8 min straight (I counted) and worthless story. Like honestly, I just got a headache after this one. Dhanush, you missed man, pick a better story. Great issue to deal with though, just needed an actual story for audience to connect with. I could not stand it, god what is this. And his sister poking her freaky head into the damn screen every 10 seconds. Not it. 1/10 at best.
Shingeki no Kyojin (2013)
I'm at a loss of words
Attack on Titan is not just one of the greatest animes, it's one of the greatest shows of all time. Rivals that of breaking bad, GOT, FMAB... the ever developing story, the twists and turns, the character development, foreshadowing, how human alike everything is even in this dystopian world. Watch it, I promise you for that you're in for a good good ride, this show did not miss and season 4 is going AMAZING
