I really don't understand the poor ratings. Maybe they're all guys, but as a daughter the movie borders on hysterical. Seriously, there are some laugh out loud moments.

Sure it's cliche that the father leaves for weekend then comes home to find his nerdy little girl now looks like a young woman. My own father had a cow when boys started showing an interest in me. Poor man had 3 daughters.

I read the Dune series. Both movies condense the time line and make Paul much older than he actually was when he was submitted to the gom jabbar. He was a child and not a teen. That goes a long way in explaining how remarkable he was. In my opinion both movies have shown little respect for the character and the story.

While the original movie and this remark really are ok to watch those that have read the series need to take it with a grain of salt or risk disappointment.

To be fair I had not seen the trailer before watching so I wrongly thought this would tell us how Nurse Ratchet became the cruel woman from One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest. Boy, was I ever wrong. Ratchet from the movie was practically a saint compared to this version. While talented, Paulsen is already 5 yrs older than Fletcher was 15 yrs later in the storyline. The actress should have been age appropriate for a prequel - unless we find out she was sacrificing patients to the devil in exchange for hardly aging. Anyway what could have, and should have been an interesting story is full of boring stereotypes. I won't be finishing the series.
