Classic!!
27 September 2005
Can you remember the first time Dorothy opened the door to Oz and it was in COLOR??? It still makes me excited!! This movie has all the hokey standard Hollywood gimmicks--home is the best place of all, good girl vs evil "witch"--but you still find yourself rooting for Dorothy every time, and waiting patiently for them to get the witch. It never grows old for me!! Even with all the pre-production problems this movie underwent, it is a visually stunning movie (the afore mentioned change to color being the highlight). Judy Garland is perfect as the young naive girl who thinks she can find happiness "over the rainbow", and the rest of the cast is sublime, especially Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch--and yes, she still can give me goose bumps!! Might be a little scary for really young kids, but it's sooooo much fun!!

A Fantasy Come True!
20 November 2001
Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone was everything I could have imagined after listening to my 11 year old son talk about this for two years now! Not having read the book the film is based on, I was completely swept away by the grandeur of the entire film. The cast is both familiar and new, and the blend works perfectly. The direction of Chris Colombus moves the story along, and the scenery and special effects are dazzling. If you have a young child that lives within your soul, let him/her out for a few hours to enjoy a magical journey!

Awful, simply awful!

Sophomoric humor with a lack of humor. The plot (what little there was of it) was incredibly thin, and it just seemed to get worse the more I watched. I think Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott are both talented young actors, but in this movie they just looked stupid.
