Three's Company: Jack Goes to the Dentist (1982)
Season 7, Episode 2
9/10
I Lay Awake All Night Thinking...
15 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
....,thinking of what I could do if I got pyjama boy in my dentist chair." As the dentist (Jeffrey Tambor) straps Jack (aka Pyjama Boy), extra tight, into the dental chair with what looks like an airline seatbelt.

I won't spoil how it got to this point though. While this isn't on the same level as Jeffrey Tambor's guest appearance in Season 6. (For me "Two Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" was a Three's Company masterpiece). This was a very entertaining episode.

You'll get a nice dose of John Ritter's physical comedy prowess on a kids rocking horse.

Janet puts on a clinic of how to break up with a man. Hilarious bit.

As you can see by my rating I enjoyed this show!

Laverne & Shirley: Guinea Pigs (1977)
Season 2, Episode 14
10/10
Is There A Place We Could Lay Down?
1 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Laverne really needs some sleep and Shirley is starving from participating in "science experiments" to earn the money to go to a fancy party.

It is a funny episode throughout. From Lenny & Squiggy letting the girls in on their little secret on how to earn extra money. To the girls participating in the sleep deprivation and not eating. To the climax of the girls arriving at the party and the chaos that ensues during the party.

I agree with other reviews that the scene at the party is outstanding. There is some great physical comedy in that scene. Both Cindy & Penny shine. We get a little surprise in the tag as we see "Charles Warner" again. He was introduced to Laverne by Shirley. When Laverne shook his hand she asked if there was a place they could lay down. Sleep was the only thing on Laverne's mind.

Shirley's pounce on the cracker that fell to the floor was hilarious.

One of my favourite episodes from the series!

Man's best friend? Sort of...
22 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
My disclaimer, if you like The Peanuts, this is one of the top episodes in the short run of the show. In my experience, The Peanuts are not for everyone. My sense of humour is suited for Charlie Brown & the gang.

Lot's of fun shorts. Turns out Snoopy isn't much of a watchdog as witnessed by Peppermint Patty.....but he sure can bounce on a waterbed.

For me the most enjoyable scene was Charlie Brown in the woods with one of the birds from Snoopy's Eagle Scouts. Some excellent moments with Peppermint Patty & Marcie looking for a "lost" Charlie Brown. Marcie is driving Patty nuts at times....but Marcie was prepared for the weather. At home Sally moved her things into Charlie's room figuring he was gone for good. Funny stuff.

That takes us about half way through. I won't spoil anymore.

Dive in and enjoy the episode.

The Nanny: Fran's Gotta Have It (1997)
Season 4, Episode 26
9/10
Niles has an emergency
4 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode starts off in the kitchen with Val & Fran and who comes in on inline skates? Niles. After looking like he had a good workout he went straight for the carrot cake. His eating habits and his sudden urge to get back in shape sets up the bad news later in the episode.

In the synopsis, you can read that Fran followed Maxwell to London to rekindle the romance they had in France. (Val's idea). There is some romantic footage of Maxwell & Fran in various places in London. Celine Dion has a concert in London. Maxwell wants to recruit her for a Broadway production.

It looks like Fran & Maxwell are finally going to consummate their relationship but Maxwell gets cold feet as he would prefer a long term relationship rather than a one night stand. An argument ensues and Fran is getting ready to leave when the phone rings. Maxwell is informed Niles had a heart attack. (Spoiler alert it was a mild one).

When Fran & Maxwell arrive at the hospital, that's where the comedic chaos really begins. No more spoilers.

Some of my favourite scenes are Niles dying his hair. CC and Yetta have a bit of fun a his expense.

Fran at the hospital wondering what is going on in Niles head while he's sedated. The dream sequence quite funny.

...and last but not least, CC at the hospital explaining what happened to Niles. It was hilarious when CC jumped on a gurney that she thought Niles was on.

I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone do a blood curdling scream better than Lauren Lane.

An excellent episode.

Three's Company: The Life Saver (1979)
Season 4, Episode 6

Jack says I'm working at the Le Petit Salon tonight
30 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Janet - "The Le Petit Salon! That's the fanciest restaurant in town."

Jack - "Oui, oui."

Janet - "What are you doing? Parking cars?"

This episode begins with the heat not working, plaster coming off the wall when Jack demonstrates the correct way to hang a picture and no hot water for Jack's shower. The apartment is in need of repairs, which sets up the rest of the story.

Jack comes back from "The Le Petit Salon" and informs the girls that he saved a man's life in the restaurant. (Not before another zinger from Janet). He used the Heimlich maneuver to save a man from chocking.

That man turns out to be a Phil Leeds. Who just happens to be a remorseless eating machine. Watch the episode and you will see why. No more spoilers here.

A very good episode from Season 4. Not quite the calibre of Jack the Ripper, A Camping We Will Go, Snow Job, etc....but a very good episode.

No one has left any type of review here. I thought it was time. JMHO.

The Nanny: The Two Mrs. Sheffields (1995)
Season 3, Episode 9
10/10
That Girl
28 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The opening of this episode begins in a flower shop. While Fran is looking at some tulips, Max's mother strolls into the shop and is looking for tulips as well. The salesman in the flower shop asks if he can help Max's mother.

After Mr. Sheffield's mom comes on to the much younger salesman, she tells him she's looking for tulips. The salesman tells her that someone is already looking at the tulips and Max's mom ask who. The salesman points at Fran as says "That Girl". Cue up the music from that girl. Perfect.

Max's mom and Fran argue over the tulips for a great opening to the show. Of course, neither lady is aware of their relationships with Max. This is probably my favorite episode from Season 3.

In less than 30 seconds, Grace does an imitation of Fran that's worth the price of admission.

Dina Merrill plays Max's overbearing mom beautifully in the show.

The end, where Fran plays with Maxwell's mind, is also terrific. An excellent episode from beginning to end.

I believe if you are a fan of the show, you'll really enjoy this one!

Corner Gas: The Good Old Table Hockey Game (2007)
Season 4, Episode 14
10/10
Best Of Eight Series For The Championship
26 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Best of eight for the crown of best table top hockey game champ of Dog River. A clash of the titans to be sure. (What if the series is 4-4)?

Not trying to spoil too much here but the undisputed champ of Dog River is none other than Brent. ...or his he? It turns out Karen is no slouch at this "great Canadian pastime". (Actually everyone I knew had a table top hockey game in the 70's & 80's). Video games likely took a chunk of the "table top hockey" popularity. People still play the game though, so it is relatable to many.

I enjoyed this episode. The championship takes place in the basement and Hank films the games while broadcasting it to the TV upstairs. A lot of fun.

The B-plot with Lacey and Emma is quite good as well.

An excellent episode. For me, one to the top from the series.

Three's Company: Downhill Chaser (1980)
Season 5, Episode 4
9/10
The Flying Dutchman
25 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
As the other reviewer pointed out, this episode from Season 5 does not show the trio's apartment. I believe there are three sets for this show.... The Reagle Beagle, the Ski Lodge and the Ski Hill. (Top of the Flying Dutchman ski run).

Also this is the first episode that we would no longer see Chrissy other than the phone call to Janet. Usually in the tag.

How do they do without Chrissy? Well....excellent. This is a very funny show. Easily in my top five of Season 5. Apparently Don Knotts took over many of Chrissy's lines.

Got to love Jack's tales of his (imaginary) skiing skill to impress Inga, when Jack really can't ski. Although in Season 4 for the episode "And Baby Makes Two", the trio have a ski trip planned. Three's Company never really cared much about continuity. I agree, the laughs are more important.

If you're a fan of the show, I'm sure you'll enjoy this episode.

Laverne & Shirley: The Playboy Show (1982)
Season 8, Episode 5

Rhonda asks Laverne to pick up a job application...
24 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
....and lo and behold Laverne gets the job offer. There were only a few episodes of Laverne & Shirley that were real entertaining after Cindy Williams departed after the 2nd episode. This is one of those episodes. Really the show couldn't have possibly gone on much longer even with Cindy. Sometimes you can only take a show so far before exhausting many of the possibilities for a creative new episode.

Penny had quite a few friends on speed dial for Season 8. Jim Belushi was in an episode. This time it was Carrie Fisher. She turned out to be an excellent foil for Laverne. Not to mention she looked fabulous in a "bunny suit".

No real spoilers her but this is a very good episode.

One Of The Classic Episodes
3 February 2022
No spoilers here but this was the conclusion to a fantastic two part episode. Lots of belly laughs and hilarious situations. Shirley's "outfit" is beyond priceless. Great chemistry between Penny & Cindy.

Highly recommended.

Three's Company: A Black Letter Day (1979)
Season 4, Episode 13
9/10
"Cookie" and a farewell to Lana
29 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A Dear Abby letter has Lana believing Jack was the author about being in love with one of his roommates. (Spoiler alert: Jack didn't write the letter).

All the women pour liquid on Jack's head in the episode in disgust. Jack eventually asks Larry if his hair is on fire, as it happened 3 times that day.

A highlight of the bickering between Janet & Chrissy is when Janet does a classic impression of Chrissy's snorting.

It's priceless when everyone reads the wrong Dear Abby letter before being redirected by Lana to the correct article.

When Larry shows Jack the Dear Abby letter at the Reagle Beagle, Jack understands why the gals are all upset with him. The climax is Jack attempting to get revenge on the girls by pretending to end his life. Janet catches on and Jack gets upset the girls make no attempt to save his life.

Farewell Lana as this was her last Three's Company episode. A shame as she was extremely skilled.
