Just finished the last episode of series 2 and finally pinpointed what I don't like about this show - The main character is such a know all. Sally Lindsay, who created, writes and stars as the titular Mde Blanc, explains literally everything, showing off her vast knowledge on every single subject known to man. For example, in the last episode, she explains who the clowns from commedia dell'arte are, tells us all how the brain's smell centre is very close to the memory centre so therefore scents trigger memories, that the smell of rain is called Petrichor, and then all about Ambergris.
She is also expert in EVERY antique, and knows the price of EVERYTHING without having to refer to any price guides or listings.
All of this would be fine if someone else got a look in, but no, Lindsay selfishly gets all the lines to herself and everyone else just stands around intently listening as she imparts her wisdom. Everyone just looks stupid compared to her vast intellect.
Its a shame, because the mysteries are quite good, but the writing needs to improve to make me watch any more.
