Heartworn Highways (1976)
Hell Yeah ! What a blast !
Put it on, sip some Bourbon, enjoy. Then go listen to the soundtrack. First known recordings of a young young Steve Earle, I believe. Amazing music and interesting to see the way of life for these dudes. I got turned on to this from seeing clips on youtube of TVZ, but watch the whole movie its so worth it.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993)
No Idea what I was missing !!
I just finished Deep Space 9 today after binge watching on Netflix for a couple months. I am a huge fan of TNG, never saw TOS, but thought TNG was the end of the road for me and so for many many years I never gave any other Trek's a go. Well, when I finally decided maybe I might give another one a try. I read the threads and understood the caveat emptor that it takes a coupe seasons to get going but then once it does, wow. Well, all I can say months later is wow, myself. TNG NEVER had a story arc like DS9. Never had character building like DS9. Yes, after watching Patrick Stewart all those years on TNG, he's clearly the best actor of Star Trek - that I've seen, but had he been given the story lines of DS9...I can only imagine.
At the end of the day, I never cared for characters the way I did on DS9. Major Kira, Odo, Nog and the episode where he "mends" in the holo suite with Vic Fontaine. I could go on and on but one thing that was amazing was we get a Star Trek with a full scale WAR.
If you are thinking about watching this and have doubts, just watch it. It's sooooo worth it (it takes a bit of character and storyline building to get there though)
