This movie should teach one quite a bit about poor moviemaking. There are some good things for sure, like some of the characters, the idea, the scenery, costumes, etc. The problem lies with a lazy script, the abundance of clichés, and problematic character behavior. This is the new trend with movies today. It's as if an algorithm spits them out.
I do respect the fact that, for once, they mentioned that people are complex, not one dimensional, good or bad. They were onto something and they could have expanded the idea a bit and played around with the how there is some bad in everything good and some good in everything bad. However, they were too all over the place for this. Instead they had a prince who fell in love with 3 different women, a forced friendship where one character would sacrifice anything for the other, like she had no life of her own, a woman treating her love interest like garbage or like he didn't matter (what message are they sending young girls?!?! There is a way you can be true to yourself and act decent, you know?!?!) a creepy wizard grooming a young girl (no one is disturbed by this?), and the rest was just stuffing of bland characters and clichés.
A movie is well done when it makes the moviegoer feel something, when it leaves an impression. This is the type of movie that made me feel like "Wait, what?" or "What the...?" or "Why would someone do that?". And even with the good things it had, it still made me regret wasting 2.5 hours on this.
