The Walking Dead: Rogue Element (2022)
Now that the writing is at the top, the ratings are going down...
Well, I gave many reviews on TWD and it was around 1 and 5 stars for reapers arc. And for a good reason, it was bad writing, bad coherence, bad tension, bad characters.
But now that we are in the Commonwealth, I must admit that they have upped what I thought of being unsavable.
The Commonwealth's arc is the better thing since season 9. We don't put explosions, CGI fireworks, but we have a great writing, and a great acting.
I love Eugene and his evolution and it is still good to develop him. Even if the plot twist at the end was predictable by the credits, etc, everything around was well-written.
The dialogue, the face to face between Eugene and Lance, where Lance is at the top of the stairs and Eugene at the bottom, the obsession of Eugene about Stephanie, Princess and Eugene... It's well-done, and it's good to see these characters that can be developped more instead of seeing the ones who are already at their max.
Carol and Lance duo is again a good thing. They are collaborating, but we know that sometime in the future, one will betray the other. We can see that with Lance at the end who is smarter than we think.
So it was a great episode that gained my full interest in this arc. I hope people will like it because when it's bad like reapers, everyone rates 12/10, but when it's good like Commonwealth, everyone rates way lower because there's no action.
I want to say : good writing and good characters > fanservice and action.
The Walking Dead: New Haunts (2022)
Finally after 8 episodes of suffering
Reapers arc was horrible in everything. But now that we are in the commowealth (that I don't know at all), everything went up.
Characters are finally getting interesting ; Daryl does not have to bear Leah and have a good duo with Connie, Carol and Lance duo works very well, Mercer is charismatic, Judith has to get adaptable with this new world... Sebastian is hatable but the actor is really well.
There is a tension that is hidden in the commonwealth which works pretty well for a start.
We finally have more than 5 people per scene, it's not 50 000 persons, but it's like 200 which is pretty good since the last 2 seasons.
But the timelapses make it too fast, things are starting slowly but will rise in the next episodes. It would be good to know where are the others and what happened in the first 30 days.
As a conclusion : It's a slow start, but it's good, and it's x50000000 better than 11A (which was really bad).
The Walking Dead: No Other Way (2022)
depends on how you take this episode
If I want turn off my brain at 100%, it's a 10/10 and the best episode of the season.
If I don't turn off my brain, it's a 1/10
If I turn off my brain, but can't turn off at 100% because I want to find some things interesting, it's a 4.75/10.
So it's a 4.75/10 for me. And if you want to know more before you dislike : predictable, bad CGI, no tension, Alexandria useless plot and everything is shown 30 sec the timelaps, timelapses
But finally reapers are done, 8 episodes of suffering and a good scene to end that.
Fear the Walking Dead: Cindy Hawkins (2021)
more coherent than 2 before
This episode was great. Maybe it will not fit for the ones who just want action, but it is well written. It is good to develop John Dorie Senior, his trauma towards the fact that he didn't solve completly the case. June who is scared about going outside is comprehensible and the relation between the two is touching.
Even if it's only for few minutes, but the ambiance outside is well done. I love the apocalypse in the apocalypse.
One default is again the end. Even if it's logical that a serial killer keeps a body in his secret place, it's really easy that they find Cindy like that. The part where they arrive to Victor is also easy and fast. But they try to justify with the radio, but it's like they had only 5 min left for 10 min of what they wanted to do.
The face to face on the radio between Morgan and Victor is great, but i don't fully understand why Victor is so agressive against Morgan.
American Horror Story: The Future Perfect (2021)
euuuuuuh
I was finding the episode a little good until i reminded myself that it was the finale... That full time jump in black and white makes it so rushed. Nixon part is useless it's like they wanted to put everything they wanted but had only 2 min to do it. Didn't understand Mamie changing her side. Present part : really good using of the young (lel there is one who is barely laughing everytime she appears). It seems unfinished because it is.
This season 10 was excellent until 10x06 and Death Valley was less interesting and really less developped than Red Tide, even if both have the worst endings of the series
Really interesting the Reptilians arc of 1min54 tho xD.
Fear the Walking Dead: The Beacon (2021)
Good starting, but 1 big default
Well after having a season 6 that i found 7/10 imo, iwas really hyped to see that season 7. And for now, i want to see more of the rest of the season and all the characters left.
Positive point : It's really beautiful to watch, great camera, colors... It has a great ambiance, all feels dead. Even if it doesn't move all the episode, i found it good to discover this "new universe".
Negative point : Radioactive fallout seem random. The writing of Victor seems so brutal, i thought that Victor was more like sending someone to death than killing directly and throwing Will, that i liked and was too bad that he died in 1st episode, was a bad idea. Maybe they could have keep him and doing a duo then a conflict with Victor to finally dies but many episodes after.
This is still a good episode and i want to see what will happen to everyone (we have surviving, Alicia's mystery, morgan vs victor and CRM). I put an 8 stars for now, i need to reanalyse it to see if it goes down or not.
American Horror Story: Inside (2021)
better than the 10x07
Black and white part : it is slowing down a bit but i find it good and interesting. The acting is good. We know more about aliens. The next episode should probably reveal more than what we have.
Recent part : hmmmmm. Let's see a positive point, it is better than the previous episode. They stop talking about sex 95% of the time. We see what's inside of them, they get kidnapped and at the end, we have an alien that is gonna born. Really much more than the previous episode. The acting is really not the best and i'm glad to see Leslie grossman because she acts better than the young people. I hope we get a good plot twist... because the episode feels like it could be a 23 min episode.
The Walking Dead: For Blood (2021)
done
I'm done of doing reviews with showing incoherences and defaults. So for my last review of the 4.5/10 season : ultra-super-extraordinary mercenaries don't know strategy.
American Horror Story: Take Me to Your Leader (2021)
1st part interesting / 2nd part issou
The 1st part with aliens is really interesting. Even if it looks cliché, AHS had always the quality of doing something complex and interesting. I want to see more of that.
And by seeing more of the 1st part, i want to see nothing of the 2nd part. The acting is bad, the dialogues is horrible. They aren't interesting characters, the plot too. We had 5 min of discussion about sex in the restaurant. 5 min of walking in the desert. And 2 min of talking about sex. This should have been 20 min of the 1st part and 9 min of the 2nd.
The Walking Dead: Promises Broken (2021)
commonwealth good, reapers as good as season 8
The commonwealth is still interesting. Eugene is growing more balls by punching this stupid Milton's kid. I wanna know what will happens next.
The reaper's arc. Because i'm so tired of this arc which i found is the worst arc of the show that i would rather watch again all season 8 than 11A because season 8 had 5 or 6 episodes good, i'm going to say my opinion in one sentence : As horrible as their CGI at the end of the episode.
The Walking Dead: On the Inside (2021)
As horrifying than My little pony
I must be horror-proof but not any jumpscares surprised me. I wasn't scared at all. Glad to see Connie and this is why the note that i give is not lower. Jumpscares are so predictable, the ambiance is not well done (watch AHS season 10 and you'll see how to place a good horror ambiance). You totally know that Connie will not die because after 12 episodes where she's not there, they'll not kill her in 1 episode. One positive point : it's interesting to not hear anything like Connie when we focus about her like in season 9 with the whisperers.
Kelly and others that save them at the last minute is predictable since when they went to search her but Kelly finally finds Connie was touching.
I'm done with the reapers. I had interest in the 3 first episodes, then i completly lost interest in episode 4, then i'm laughing everytime they appear in episode 6. You probably forgot but i remember you, reapers are meant to be scary so when they are 12 as a group and 12 yo, they are not at all. The one who is against Daryl is boring. They have guns when in 11x02 and 11x03, they're attacking with knifes. They don't wear mask because we don't know, they attack Maggie because we don't know... I don't care about Frost, they should have put Gabriel instead of him because i like Gabriel and it would be more painful to watch.
Pls, put commonwealth.
The Walking Dead: Out of the Ashes (2021)
The best episode of the season for now
After losing interest in the reapers group, the Commonwealth is here to keep me watching it. The commonwealth's arc is the most interesting in this season. I love Eugene and princess, Yumiko is really interesting and seeing her with her brother is touching. Mercer is badass, he can walks that i would say that he's badass. We're getting more in the Commonwealth system with politics, justice and i want to know what'll happen.
In Alexandria's side, it's good. It's better to see how Alexandria has a hard life than the reapers's arc with the horrible episode 4. Aaron is finally getting timescreen, thank god ! I like how the whispers are not totally eradicated. I want to hug Judith, she's adorable and everything that's happening to her is tough (michonne gone, rick gone, alexandria almost gone). The kids that insulted her are probably from oceanside to not know Judith Grimes.
Negan-Maggie i don't give a damn. It's not interesting. There're too much useless talking. I mean, Negan killed Glenn but you can't deny what he's saying. Waiting here while Alexandria is starving without sending anyone. And even at the end to say "see maggie is right for waiting Gabriel and Elijah" they're gonna stand there for many days because Daryl and Frost are not gonna come soon. The scenarists are forcing into the conflict.
The Walking Dead: Rendition (2021)
bored the entire episode
Predictable writing. Reapers accept easily Daryl. But when the center of the episode is a character that has been introduced in the bonus episode, you know there's something wrong.
The Walking Dead: Acheron: Part II (2021)
Great episode !
This episode was much better than the one before. It has great ambiance and with the kid's death, it makes everything darker.
Positive :
The ambiance is great. I love when they are in the wagon and they are surronded by the walkers. Gage's death, even if i don't care about the character, makes the episode darker because the thing to see the death coming... Alden is not boring. Daryl's part is cool too and the gun scene is badass. The fight against the walkers and the others. Negan and Maggie are finally in a stable relationship. And the end with old man taking the bullet reminds of Axel's death or denise's death, the way of a surprising death and being afraid of a too long scene because you're scared to lose someone from a bullet... And the reapers entrance makes me want to see the next episode. The commonwealth is still good. Stephanie and Eugene made me smile. Yumiko gets some nice character development, she's the only one with Connie to have some importance from Magna's group since season 9.
Negative :
Maggie's backstory was boring to me, it was too long and it would have been better if we had flashback to see the corpses and being really touched by that. The grenade was awful, how the wagon or the glasses do not break with the explosion ? Daryl going out for dog to make a "deus ex machina" is a little too much. Too bad the deaths weren't about people we care for. Even if i love Princess, she makes everything in the Commonwealth less stressful, frightening...
This a 7.5 or 8/10 episode. The part 2 is always better than the part 1 and TWD succeeded.
The Walking Dead: Acheron: Part I (2021)
Better than 10x01
Positive :
The commonwealth's arc is really interesting. I love princess and Mercer looks really good.
The subway's ambiance is well done, it's really dark and original in the TWD universe. There are many walkers, it has some budget. The end makes me want to see the part 2.
Negative :
The commonwealth's part ends so easily. Princess seeing the tiny little paper on the big pannel...
The beginning of the episode is stupid. Walkers sleeping, ok we already saw that with hershel in season 3 BUT how did they not smell them ? Why the group didn't used walkers's blood to make it much easier ?
I don't like Maggie, she dares to Negan to angry her more when all the episode she's insulting him. I just want to see Maggie's group dying fast, they are not interesting, they have all 12 years old to push Negan on the shoulder... It's not stressful in the subway because i don't care about maggie's group, alden... Daryl is.against Negan when in season 10, Negan gained his trust.
Well, ok-good episode, i hope the part 2 is better and this episode is still better than the season 10 premiere.
Fear the Walking Dead: USS Pennsylvania (2021)
50% of good scenes and real and 50% of wtf
It started well. The submarine had a good anxiety ambiance and I love Teddy. But only half or 3/7 of the episode is interesting and the other is really slow. Victor is acting like he is since the beginning BUT his actions are stupid. Morgan did again "deus ex machina" and how did he survive against 10 zombies on the floor while in the beginning of the episode, he needed help for only 1 zombie (when June shot it). All the other group are just watching and doing nothing (and why did the other woman bring her baby ?).
My thoughts : The beginning is good, then the half is stupid and slow (it's to fill the episode), and the ending is pretty good.
