Mr. Birchum (2024)
There is timing and rhythm issues
Good premise and potential, but the jokes fall flat. The timing just isn't there. It often feels like people are simply reading lines and not actually developing a joke. It's like with any type of comedy, the joke may be there, but not everybody can make you laugh when they tell the joke. It's all about delivery, and the delivery felt choppy and scripted in the first episode. Plus, the jokes are a touch on the predictable end. With that being said, I have only watched episode one thus far, and like most shows, I'm sure they will improve as time goes on. I enjoy Daily Wire and I will be rooting for the show to do well.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)
Movie sucked
It's just a bad movie. So many moments where you say to yourself "really?" Almost to the point it's laughable. The writing sucked. The actors tried way too hard to be cool. Jokes blew. And even the auto bots went from being real cool, wise, and tough to being unserious, way too talkative, and not funny. The nuances in the story also did not come together at all. Just a high budget movie that was written and directed by people who simply aren't great at it.
It's just like a lot of new movies these days. It doesn't feel like a big movie that has a well connected story with at least solid writing and directing. It feels small, cheesy and like it was directed by a 7th grader.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
Fun-ish, But Not Good
Story was sort of fun. The visual effects were cool. The acting was solid for the most part (except for the mom who never should have been cast to play a mysterious serious character).
Ant Man didn't even feel like a main character. Everything he did. He came up short and the women bailed him out.
The writing was lazy. No clue how Cassie went from not being able to punch, to putting people in arm bars and flipping them. The ants mysteriously going into some separate portal and becoming really advanced seemed like a real convenient coincidence, which was the way they killed kang. Like where did that even come from. Not apart of the story at all. And there were lots of "oh I didn't see that one coming" moments
The story line feels super cliche because not serious or intense. Big battle scenes don't work when things aren't intense. And also when the movie development just isn't there.
Uncharted (2022)
Fun
Not a Mona Lisa but a fun popcorn movie. It's not a deep movie at all but that's honestly kind of refreshing. Don't need some serious heavy movie all the time.
And the antagonist chick was absolutely terrible. She may be a great actress but it was a mistake casting her in that role. But it was almost helpful because I couldn't stand her so I found myself rooting even harder against her.
The Batman (2022)
Very good, not as good
The movie was very good. I was entertained the whole movie. Don't listen to anybody that tells you that these are better than the Nolan Batman's, cuz they're not. They are a completely different style and type of movie, so based on the style they went with, they did a very good job. The Nolan movies just felt bigger; they got way more into Bruce Wayne, Gotham, politics, Wayne enterprises and the character development was much better. This movie, you are thrown into the story, and it is much more focused on Batman vs Riddler, not much outside of that. And it got PC, which I really hate.
Sounds like I was ripping on it the whole time, but it really was cool and fun. I just think some people are getting a little ahead of themselves. If it were not a Batman movie, I'd give it an 8; but since I know what Batman is, and can be about, it's a 7.
