Combat! (1962)
Networks carrying Combat
Combat can presently be seen on the American Life Television Network at 7 Eastern Standard Time. BrightHouse Networks currently carries this independent network. They do have a web site and if not on your cable provider, might call them and see if they can be added. Only network I know carrying reruns of Combat. I do not understand why TV Land will not carry it or Retro TV network. American Life was just added to our cable provider on digital. I was thrilled to find it there and personally called ALTN and thanked them. They used to carry Rat Patrol as well but dropped it. they assured me they will be carrying Combat for awhile as they get good response from it.
Then Came Bronson (1969)
Then Came Bronson
The first 5 episodes of this TV series which was on NBC were shot in and around Jackson Hole, Wyoming. the opening and closing credits are
shot in Grand Teton National Park on the outer park highway. Parks had a minor hit with the theme song "Just Traveln Down That ol lonesome highway" MGM used 5 different versions of the "eye" bike in the show depending on which shots and stunts had to be done. While the pilot episode and the first few shows after that had some promise to be a good hit series, this was no "Easy Rider" wanna be and NBC quickly canceled it. Parks did go on to have a mild good film and television career.
The Wild Country (1970)
The Wild Country
This movie is a good family movie with the exception of the tornado which having lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where this movie was filmed, tornadoes just do not happen at 6,800 feet above sea level. I remember Frank DeKova as chief Wild Eagle from "F Troop". I lived in Jackson at the time of this film being shot and all the cast was very gracious. Ron Howard at the time was a young man still looking to get his post Andy Griffith career started before discovering his talent as a director. The movie really never went anywhere on the big screen. It was shot over the summer in Jackson and the cast rode in Teton County Fair parade. Frank DeKova would hang out at the local steak house and visit with people. He was a most gracious man. The movie was shot between The Triangle X Ranch in Grand Teton National Park and another Ranch which I do not recall. Also shot on Antelope Flats in the Park.
The Monroes (1966)
The Monroes
Lived in the little town of Jackson, Wyoming at the time they shot this series here. They filmed this series mostly in Grand Teton National Park until the weather got too cold in the late fall and then they went back to LA and rebuilt the cabin set on a sound stage which you could easily tell. The location shots had a wide view of the Teton range with few trees and the interior sets had all these trees with a painted vista of the Tetons. That is also when the ratings went downhill on the latter episodes and ABC axed this show. It was quite neat to see the major guest stars fly in and out of Jackson and Barbra Hershey was actually very cordial. The little Twins on the series were cute as well. Anyway a good western.
