Inglourious Basterds (2009)
Finally.....My Belief in Quentin Tarantino has been restored
Inglourious Basterds (IB) is an awesome movie, praise that I seldom lend to movies, especially recent Quentin Tarantino (QT) movies........ The last QT film that was worthy of my praise, was Pulp Fiction, as the characters and dialogue were some of the best ever written, IB is a true return to form by QT.
I went to the movie theatre to watch this movie, dreading the 2.5 hours that lay ahead, as my husband wanted to go and watch IB, and I had been cajoled into attending with him. Within minutes of its start, I was hooked, the Colonel Hans Landa character played by Christopher Waltz was amazing, what a sense of intense buried evil he portrayed beneath the outward cool exterior. The dialogue between him and Monsieur LaPadite was intense, what a menacing portrayal. I hope to see Christopher Waltz in more movies in the future, as usual QT has found an excellent unknown actor that perfectly fits the role.
What a revelation Brad Pitt was in this role, Diane Kruger held her end and the lovely Melanie Laurent was brilliant.
I can not praise this film enough, loved it, loved it, loved it!!!! One of my favourite movies so far this year, in my top 5. I hope that QT can follow up this movie with something of a par, as no-one writes dialogue like QT, if he can, then I for one will be waiting with baited breath for his next movie.
Well done QT, I salute you.
Dakota Skye (2008)
Dakota Skye is a wonderful little movie
Just watched Dakota Skye, and loved it. Of course Im a romantic at a heart, but the performances are awesome. I was hooked from the start, the movie was at the right pace and was just the right length. The cast were excellent, its a shame that Ian Nelson hasn't done many more movies since Dakota Skye, as he is a wonderful actor, he was believable in every scene. When Jonah opens his heart to Dakota, and tells her how he feels about her, his monologue was so beautiful and heart felt. The scene where Jonah watches Dakota singing with Kevin, you can really feel the pain that Jonah is experiencing, and ultimately you really care how he feels. I felt for the characters in this movie, which is rare these days. I hope that Chad J Shonk writes another movie, his dialogue and character development are excellent, of course the direction is brilliant too. I felt really happy after this movie, and prepared for the day ahead.....hope to see Ian Nelson and Eileen April Boylan in more movies in the future.
