My Sassy Girl (2001)
10/10
"Wanna die? Watch it!"
4 December 2007
Well, I'm not as sassy as The Girl. Thus, i provide some reasons for it! Here are the reasons why you should watch "My Sassy Girl"!!!:

-it's funny! (the acting, the facial expression, the plot and specially all of my favorite train (barf & bet), motel, theme park, story telling and their parents scenes!)

-it's naughty! (the acting by Cha Tae-hyun and part of the editing are TRICKY with a twist of SCI-FI!)

-it's beautiful! (the film score, the cinematography, the scenic views and Jun Ji-hyun, of course!)

-it's innocent! (the acting and the love between Cha Tae-hyun and Jun Ji-hyun and the beauty of Jun Ji-hyun)

-it's crazy! (the series of unexpected events happen in the movie)

-it's wacky! (the character which is played by Jun Ji-hyun)

-it's natural! (the acting by the cast and the beauty, the compositing, the smile and the tears of Jun Ji-hyun)

-it's sweet! (the love, the smile and the interaction between Cha Tae-hyun and Jun Ji-hyun)

-it's romantic! (my favorite piano playing Canon in D major scene! this is not your so-called average love story and it's romantic in an unexpected way!)

-it's touching! (the score, the movie, mountain, balcony, 10 date rules scenes and the ending that i always weep over for several times!)

-it's refreshing! (neither a typical nor ordinary romantic love flick!)

-it's superb! it's excellent! it's tremendous! it's fascinating! it's captivating! It's perfect! (the MOVIE, the CAST, the ACTING, the DIRECTOR, the CREW, Jun Ji-hyun, Cha Tae-hyun, their EFFORT, the SCREENPLAY, the MUSIC, the CINEMATOGRAPHY, the ONE-TAKE balcony scene and everything!)

-it's SASSY! (explanation is unnecessary because it's SASSY!)

-it's LOVE! (well, watch it for yourself!)

-it's a CLASSIC! (no doubt due to its uniqueness and originality)

-it's a MUST WATCH! (don't ask me why!)

-it's my ALL TIME FAVORITE! (i just simply couldn't resist romance movie with a twist of comedy and SCI-FI! Too many favorite scenes inside the movie for me! It's absolutely my pot of Jjigae(Korean steamboat)!) Yum yum!

And here is my final advice - Just watch it and stop reading my review if you are a real movie lover! It's absolutely worth to be watched at least 3 times in lifetime. One alone, one with your beloved one and another one to enjoy seeking the hidden details which are nicely set-up by the director! OK, just watch it! Would you?

You won't be regret! But if you are regret after watching it, sorry for my terrible obsession with this movie or probably infatuation with Jun Ji-hyun!

"I met a man from the future." & "Fate is building a bridge of chance for someone you love." are my favorite quotation from the movie!

Strongly and highly recommended! Too bad i can't rate it more than 10 out of 10! (Personally, i don't fancy Hollywood to be able to bring out the feeling and the message by remaking it!)

The 10 Untold Secrets
16 September 2007
1. familiar plot but with some refreshing elements.

2. beautiful piece of film score which are composed by Jay Chou and Terdsak Janpan .

3. surprisingly good acting by Guey Lun-mei (an adorable and charming girl with potential), great acting by Anthony Wong (such a versatile actor, no doubt), refreshing acting by Alice Tseng Kai-xuan (a girl who possesses sublime beauty and angelic smile) and fairly improved acting by Jay Chou (just being himself by acting cool as usual, i guess?)

4. fancy cinematography with good editing and compositing.

5. intermediate visual effects.

6. cool executed scenes to show off music talent.

7. a combination of sci-fi, comedy, mystery, youthful romance (although Jay looks a bit "mature") and probably horror? (the flashback and liquid paper parts really give me the creeps!)

8. some logical flaws. (eg. the desk in the classroom, get what i mean?)

9. flowing storyline with great atmosphere formed by the cool color theme used.

10. and of course, the director himself-Jay Chou, the Chinese pop icon and idol for many teenagers and young adults.

All of the main ingredients above could be found in "Secret". It's definitely worth your time to explore and reveal the secret by yourself or together with your beloved one. It's quite a touching tear jerker (but not as touching as Be With You, personal opinion...) Well, it might not be the cup of tea for everyone, but it is the bowl of soup for me!

Overall, 8 out of 10 for a freshman film director.

Recommend to all of those who believe in fate and love.

Never Ending Rainy Season...
20 May 2007
Well,i'm having insomnia now, thanks to the movie! I'm terribly obsessed! My head and heart keep on saying "Rain! Rain! Rain! Don't stop!!! Not now!!! Please..." How i wish the rainy season would never end...

Initially, i really thought that it was yet another typical so-called Japanese romance plot. Guess what? I was wrong! When Mio comes back to life, i was full of questions, "is she an alien? a spirit? a ghost? a robot? an angel? or a fairy?" (but definitely not a devil! cause she is too beautiful and innocent for that! well, my personal opinion)

When it comes to the end, speechlessly touching... A beautifully crafted sci-fi (i guess?)... Could you imagine a guy sobbing while eating instant noddle in front of a monitor screen?

WARNING! Don't take this movie as ordinary romance, it's more about courage and destiny. Are you still willing to love, even if it will cost your life? After all, LOVE would be the magical answer to that.

This is no doubt a MASTERPIECE! Strongly recommend, this movie is a MUST WATCH!!! 10/10 stars
