Pride and Prejudice (1980)
Poor acting, and no emotion
While parts of the story are good, perticulary Mr. Collins, for the most part I was disipointed. None of the characters are well developed. Lizzy lacks the fire and wit from the novel, Mr. Darcy has no emotion whatsoever, Jane is brainless, and Mr. Bennet does not have any sense of humor. While in dialog, the movie was faithful to the book, it was not so in interpretation of the vivid characters Jane Austen created. The movie characters come across as flat and bland.
Titanic (1997)
"This is really bad"
Quite possibly one of the worst movies ever made, this film ignores the heart-rending stories of the 2000+ real people who were one the Titanic to present to us a redundant romeo/juliet storyline. Kate Winslet plays a spoiled "free-spirit" who is being forced by her mother to marry the wealthy Billy Zane. On board the Titanic, she meets Jack (Leonardo di Caprio), who teaches her to be "free", or in other words, be trashy and self-centered. The movie is filled with bad acting and even worse writing. The only redeeming features are the special effects which are stunning and the beautiful soundtrack.
Laura (1944)
A psycological mystery with an unbelievable twist.
Laura is quite possibly the greatest film noir ever made. Laura Hunt is a woman everyone loves, except for the person who murdered her. As detective Mark MacPherson investigates, he finds that htere was more to her life then met the eye. He also finds himself falling in love with her after hearing her story and reading her diaries. Dana Andrews shines as the tough detective who won't let even his love for Laura get in the way of finding the killer. This movie will leave you guessing at every turn.
